Charlesworth Hotel & Restaurant

Stayed here last labor day weekend for my birthday and it was a great experience. We had the room with its own bathroom and having a corner room gave us amazing views of the water and the sunset. When I first glanced at the reviews and I saw someone say it was the best restaurant in South Jersey I laughed. I was expecting a casual beach vibe but boy were we wrong. this is fine dining and everything we ordered was phenomenal. my friend ordered the tomato side and I never knew tomato could taste so good. This place is truly a gem. This year I will be staying in an airbnb around the corner but very much looking forward to eating here again for my birthday dinner. this place is definitely worth it. best restaurant in South Jersey? quite possibly

I don't think there's enough space in Google reviews to explain how incredible this restaurant is. From the stunning views of the Delaware Bay to the exceptional customer service, our dinner here was one of a kind.

Not to mention the food was incredible. We had clams and linguine, steak, salmon, cod, and scallops - all the best we've ever had. For dessert. We had their key lime pie which was the best we've ever had.

Dinner at The Charlesworth is a magical experience. Stunning views, lovely environment and absolutely delicious food. The service is top-notch! They go out of their way to make it the perfect dining experience. It was a very special dinner for our friends get together ❤

My wife and I decided to have dinner here after family pictures and by far one of the best meals I’ve ever had. I had the pasta primavera and it was excellent!. The kids had kid meals with Mac n cheese they raved about. The owner was always checking on us and making sure we were good. The view of the Delaware Bsy at sunset is camera worthy.

Had dinner, and it was excellent. The staff was incredible. They could not have given us a better experience. They worked as a well-built team. The food was outstanding. I had the steak with pepper corn sauce and you could have cut it with a butter knife. The dining room was beautiful, and the view of the bay is gorgeous. This is a gem you have to give a try.

Best helpful hint is remember this is BYOB. We celebrated my Birthday at Charlesworth Restaurant at the end of summer. As we walked around to the Bayside entrance the sun was setting. The view is stunning. Inside, the Charlesworth is a step back in time with live piano music lightly filling the background. Our party of seven shared appetizers of Oysters Rockafeller, Lobster Mac & Cheese, Tuna Tartare and a Bisque Soup. I highly recommend the Tartare. I had the NY Strip which was cooked to perfection. It was heated throughout while still remaining a juicy medium rare. Everyone loved their entree's as well. We had no room for dessert but that didn't deter us. My husband loves Creme Brule which he insisted I taste as he described it as one of the best he had. For seven people, because there were no alcohol charges, the price seemed reasonable comparing to places with similar menus. This is a special place to visit. The staff are great, the owner is welcoming and the piano player just takes it to another level.

My daughter, my sister and I were lucky enough to have dinner there the other night. It was one of the best meals I’ve ever had anywhere! The view was absolutely amazing and Syboll, the owner was delightful, knowledgeable, attentive, and made us feel like family! We will definitely go back there again and again.

This destination on the Delaware Bay in New Jersey is truly spectacular. Everything about it is top-notch. From the food to the service and the accomodations. If you're looking for a quick getaway in a non-touristy area, this hidden gem in Fortescue is for you! The hospitality is quite special. The owners go out of their way to make you feel welcome and taken care of. And you cannot beat the view. It's breathtaking! You will not regret visiting this destination. I cannot recommend it enough!

Our First experience at the Charlesworth Hotel-Restaurant was one I’ll never forgot . I’ll start with the service the owner is very generous attentive and friendly to all his customers , the ambience was warm and comfortable .

Now the food the owner /waiter recommended a number of dishes to try he walks we a little bit of everything for us to try lobster Mac and cheese , stuffed shrimp , and stuffed crab shrimp .

For our Entree Naji got the pork chop with caramelized apples and onions served with spinach and mash potatoes . Annnnd I Got the Pasta Primavera with roasted peppers and onions spinach and cheese.

My stomach was about to explode 🤯 but wait there’s more ! Dessert .. another asortment of options chocolate mousse , cheesecake with cherries that have been imported from Paris etc but there was one that stood out and it was a key lime pie 😋 We our both stuffed until tomorrow night lol but I highly recommend this restaurant 5 stars ⭐

One of thr BEST MEALS WE HAVE EVER HAD.. Plus the MOST COMFORTABLE AND FUN ATMOSPHERE.
If you havent been here since Syboll ( I LOVED HIM), his Sister and his Friend from College that is the Chef have owned the restautant ..You need to make a Reservation ASAP!

My Husband and I along with My Brother-in-law and Sister-in-law drove an hour on Saturday in pouring rain for our 5:30 reservation.
We use to go here years ago 30-40 yrs ago for “All You Can Eat Crabs.”
There is No Liquor License BUT we did bring our own Wines!
From the appetizers which included Deep Fried Oysters, Ahi Tuna Tartare,Stuffed Shrimp to the Entrees.. Chilean SeanBass ,Chicken Parm and Penne Pasta, Linguine with Scallops in Creamy Lemon Sauce and The Moat Delicious Pork Chop with Roasted Apples and Bacon. Lots of Sides also Delicious and Dessert did not Disappoint..
Creme Brulee, Bread Pudding,Key Apple Crumb Pie with Vanilla Ice Cream and Cherry Cheesecake..
We had a Blast talking and Laughing with Syboll..
He brings around Bowls of Jewelry that belonged to his Mom and invites everyone to take something that catches your eye in honor of his Mom.. So sweet!
Let me also say that our Server a young man named Andrew was Pure Perfection.. He was Gorgeous and So Informed about the Food and So Attentive… We never had to ask for anything and we had everything we needed before we knew we were going to need it!
The only thing we wish we could change is the fact that it is an hour away..So next time we may Reserve one of their 5 Rooms they have available at their Hotel!
Cannot wait to go back..It is worth the Ride there and Back .. If You are Lucky enough to get a Reservation..
It was packed that night too even with the Heavy Downpour all night long!

I haven’t been here in a very long time and I wasn’t even aware that new owners took over a couple years ago.
Cybill, my apologies if misspelled, is a gem!
He and his staff are very friendly, personable and attentive.
The food… everything from the appetizer to the entree, sides and desert are all made in house and couldn’t have been any better.
Plan your visit to time it with a beautiful del bay sunset and request a window table if possible. You will not be disappointed.
Will be going back again soon.

Great experience in a little remote location! The dining room has excellent views of the bay and the service was super friendly and quick. We got the stuffed crab flounder and the salmon over pesto pasta, and both were to die for! The host was impeccable as well, making sure we felt right at home as soon as we walked in!
*No alcohol on menu, but have a great wine bottle selection

We had an absolutely exquisite experience at the Charlesworth, highly recommend! My wife and I are new homeowners in Fortescue and we went to the restaurant for dinner. The food was out of this world. Syboll served us personally and our experience with him was as delightful as the food was. He personally recommended the pork chop, claiming that if it wasn't the best pork chop I'd ever eaten he would buy it for me. He wasn't lying. I now have a new favorite meal at a new favorite restaurant!

The Charlesworth has the best food, the best ambience, and Amy and Sybil Are the best host that you could ever find anywhere. This is a gem that South Jersey has. An off the beaten path, unique dining experience. Food was as good as any five star hotel. Sybll the owner, and his sister were very gracious and accommodating. We were offered complementary rings and earrings from his late mothers, antique jewelry collection. The bay views and sunset were incredible as the food and the staff. We would highly recommend this experience to anyone. It is worth the trip!! We are planning on staying here for our anniversary..

We had an AMAZING time at the Charlesworth Restaurant. We were staying next door for a long weekend and ended up eating at the Charlesworth Restaurant TWICE because Amy and her staff were PHENONIMAL! The food was very tasty and the staff just made the experience that much better! I look forward to our next meal when we are in the area in the future!

We found the Charlesworth while looking for a winter weekend getaway and had a lovely stay! The view of the bay from our room was beautiful, especially at sunset. We walked around the small beach area just out front during the day, and went to the restaurant in the evening.

All of the food was really tasty! The tuna tartar was highly recommended and ended up being our favorite menu item, but we also loved the lobster bisque and scallops. The owner was extremely accommodating, and the bottle of white wine (offered on the house) went great with the food. He let us select an antique ring on the house at the end of the meal which was a nice touch, I wear mine often.

All in all, this place was a hidden gem and the restaurant/hotel had awesome, friendly service. We will gladly come back sometime.

Wonderful dinner and atmosphere at the Charlesworth last night. Beautiful bay views and hospitality by the owner were top notch. We had the ahi tuna to start, salmon with a basil cream sauce over linguini and the seafood platter, and to end the meal , the mud pie which melted in your mouth. Amy was our wonderful server and everything she suggested was excellent! BYOB which we love. Kind of a throw back little town which is unique! Will definitely be back!

My husband and I had dinner here last night, and as expected, it was incredible. We used to go to Fortescue Bayside, so we were excited to try Syboll and Amy's new place. The food was amazing, and this is also coming from my husband - who has very high expectations when it comes to food. The atmosphere was lovely, from the sunset view on the bay to the live piano to and Syboll and Amy are amazing. They make you feel right at home, are very attentive, and had us laughing the whole night. Be aware that you do need a reservation, which we did not have, but they were kind enough to find us a table. All in all, I highly recommend the Charlesworth!!

Enjoyed an absolutely stellar meal in a location far off the beaten path. When a jewel like this is found you feel like you've found a city of gold. The owner and his staff are warm and attentive and the food is 5 star. Recommend the scallops, lemon parmesan collard greens, pork chop, mac & cheese, and creme brulee.
