Beautiful though small state park. We enjoyed our afternoon here yesterday and would like to come back in the spring. We did the Mounds tour and found the extra information helpful and liked the ability to ask questions.

We stayed overnight in the rv park with our motorhome. Didn’t know what to expect. But we were pleasantly surprised to find a nice nature center and then LOTS of trails through the hills and along the river. There’s a historic home there open on the weekends I believe.

My 6-year old daughter and I walked for 2 hours and cleared 3 miles. She never complained about it and we enjoyed it so much!

Always a great hike. A couple of trails have stairs but nothing hard. Camping and swimming pool are clean. And the visitors center is GREAT! Educational and a sun porch to relax and listen to the wild life. (Speakers inside)

Very, very nice park. Spacious spots. Mature trees everywhere! (several do need cut as they are not good for tall tt's, 5th's, etc) We visited friends staying there. Beautiful and lots of trails. No sewer but they have dump stations. Very nice, paved windy roads back to the campground. Would definitely recommend!

Beautiful park with great archeological sites, a historic home, a nature center, hiking trails, and more. A must-see if you're in Anderson.

Really nice State Park. $7 per car, unless you have a State Parks pass. Lots of trails that cross each other so that you can meander many ways. The trails are mostly gravel pack, some are dirt, and one has asphalt. The trails are wide and well maintained. Several have stairs that make valley access easier. Really nice nature center.

We love this state park! Hiking and history combined. It was really neat looking and learning about the Indian earthworks. Trails for all ages, plus fishing! There is also calling available. Restrooms at the entrance plus a small nature center.

This is one of our family's favorite state parks. It has easy trails for even young children, more challenging/rugged trails for others, and great buildings and exhibits. The scenery and setting are gorgeous, and we enjoy visiting during all seasons.
At least one of the trails seems reasonably accessible.

We try to visit Mounds every year. We spent the day hiking if you have too much trouble climbing up and down steps or rough terrain this may be too much for you but they have several areas that are ok for every. The park has 4 mounds 3 are close together. We walked out on the observation deck of the great mound which lets you see the roundness better. I love the sounds, sights and colors of nature in this park. Squirrels and chipmunk running, playing, jumping and climbing trees and eating nuts. No underfed wildlife in this park. If you are there at near sunset you may see several deer. Mounds has picnic areas, shelters, playgrounds, benches along trails(much needed) they have events for everyone. We saw people taking pictures, reading their book in a quit area, runners and several people walking their dogs. Mounds has something for all ages. They also have camping. It is a great place for a family outing.

This is a nice little state park, we stopped for one night on our trip. There is a pretty busy airport next door with traffic fron 7:30am to 9pm the days we were here but overall this is a nice spot, we would stay again.

Hey it became Spring fast this week right before our eyes Today is the first day we have even left the campground for anything for a week. Bonus:.Gas saver, wear and tear not just on the vehicle either The trails kept Jett and I quite fit. I think the Raccoons are getting anxious too I saw a few hiding in the trees last night I think they remember I always tell them no. I wonder if they know it's for their own protection not just our own that feedings them is a bad idea me. But I think something dropped in the dark. Lol
Enjoy

First time we checked mounds state park out. I took my 3 kids and a couple friends children (oldest being 10, youngest being 4) they all loved it! I didn't get to see all the awesomeness this park has to offer (with kids) but from what we did see was beautiful. We just moved to chesterfield so I will be back little by little to see all and hope to one day go in the bronnenberg family home..I love historic homes!

Great State Park experience. Nice visitor's center with displays and animals that will satisfy kids and adults alike. Clean bathrooms and a small gift shop. Each employee we encountered was helpful and friendly. There are a variety of shorter trails with a variety of difficulties. A nice shaded playground area is available in the northern section. The south is dominated by the amazing earthworks. The only thing I would suggest is some sort of signs directing you to the various trailheads. Once in the woods, the trails are sort of all jumbled close together, but if you can read a basic map, you won't have any trouble. A lot of the trails close to the mounds were flooded, or had large mud swamps to traverse. Especially in front of the information sign by the Great Mound. It seems like this park doesn't get a lot of state funding for outdoor upkeep, unfortunately, because the trails and fencing all are in need of repair.

This park has good amenities for young children, including a nature center, easy trails close to parking, and a playground. Their playground could use some updates but my 2.5 year old was still able to play and have a great time. The playground was shaded during the summer and early fall when we were there, making it a great option on a warm day but beware it may be damp if you go in the morning. They had recently redone the walking path near the great mound and it all looked great. My kids loved the nature center and all the animals they were able to see up close. Hoping to go back for programming at the park.

Awesome, large, and fairly level sites! Great buddy sights. We stayed on 25 and 33 during our last visit and they were perfect! There are also good hiking opportunities.
