River View Lodge, LLC

We were very satisfied with our rooms. Clean and hot showers and right on the trail. Reasonably priced and Michelle is very friendly! We will return.

Good place for gun season and also summer. Right in Darlington downtown, beside the majestic courthouse. Fits the definition of cheap n best! Pretty view in the backyard. Only thing that needs to be worked upon would be to the owners to answer phone calls. Goes to voicemails most of the time. But the owner Michelle is a very sweet, friendly and courteous lady. Good Wi-Fi, hot water, decent clean bathroom with a cabinet shower (the ones we find in condos). Soap, shampoo, lotion. Towels look old but still clean. Very Good heater in the room, specially during gun season. Fan. Cable tv. Fridge, microwave, coffee maker. Compared to super 8 room I rented was small but good for me. Felt like I'm in my room. Near bed with a Real Tree print comforter!

Enjoyed our stay. Everything was fine, but can use more parking. Did not go on trails and ATV's, trailers and cars took over

A great river view

I tried to book a room with the folks at River View Lodge and it was a nightmare.
First, I called and spoke with Michelle, stating that I was looking for accommodations for myself, my husband, and our three large dogs. I explained in detail that my dogs are very well behaved and we would be happy to kennel them when we were away from the room so they could be at ease that their room would stay in excellent shape. Michelle said that would be just fine, so I said I'd speak to my husband and call back to officially book the room.
I called back at least 5 times within the next 6 days and left voicemail after voicemail. I sent messages via Facebook AND the Lodge's website and got no response. I even tried calling from different phone numbers in the off chance they were purposefully ignoring my number.
After complete silence for nearly a week, I got a call back from Scott, stating that he and Michelle had deliberated all week about whether or not they wanted dogs at the motel and of course they decided that they did not, which is inherently fine.
The problem is that I spent an entire week trying to contact a business, and that business purposefully ignored my pleas for contact. What they should have done was call me right away and say that they were having hesitations about the dogs. I would have been more than happy to engage with them, either to reassure them or let them know that I appreciate their honesty and can continue looking for other accommodations. Instead, they let me worry in limbo for days on end after telling me I could definitely book a room for us and our dogs - days that I could have spent finding another motel that allowed dogs.
