Square Cafe Hingham

went there for an early Easter dinner. did not have a reservation but they accommodated us very nicely. i had the cafe bolognese and the only complaint i have was no room for dessert. the food was superb! and the staff was excellent!highly recommend trying out if your in the area.

The food here did not disappoint in the least. Be sure to ask for bread! It was crispy on the outside, soft in the middle, just out of the oven, and accompanied by a delicious dip. I had the Arcadian farm salad with salmon. The sweet corn and tomato flat bread was also yummy. Kids menu available.

The sourdough bread is phenomenal. Loved spicy noodle entre, excellent cocktails. Coconut cream dessert has a surprisingly light, shortbread cake like crust. Service was great.

Incredible food and service. Great seafood offerings. The server was more than helpful regarding vegan options and took a lot of initiative to discover more where the menu may not have been so obvious.

Definitely returning. The mussels were my favorite. The bread is super-fresh and so delicious.

The hosts have magical energy which I admire and enjoy every time we come there. The outdoor sitting area has heaters which is very nice in a colder season. Please mention that you’d like to be seated under a heater if you call to book a table since they have tables outside that are further away from heaters.
The food is great! I have had a beets salad, tuna tartar, a burger (on the picture), mussels etc - all great options. My child’s favorite is chicken nuggets (on the picture).

I was in the restaurant industry for 20 years. Now, I love the other side of it but I am super critical of the places I go.
With that, this is my first review on line..
I had an Amazing dinner tonight at the Hingham location.
Started with a Cosmo and rustic bread. Both fantastic! The cosmo put me right in the mood for a Friday night, if you know what I mean.. ;-)
Then ordered the sticky ribs and a glass of Valpolicella. Wine was alright but the ribs were to Die For!!
Next up. I ordered the Cod and my friend ordered the the noodles.
Hers was sweet and delish but mine was... Fantastic!!
Perfect portion of slightly breaded cod over fingerling potatoes, heir covert and carrots, sitting in a lemon beurre blanc that you could drink.
Finished with 2 espresso martini's and the coconut cake to take home.
Yes I was buzzed at this point but boy oh boy.. That was the most amazing cake I have EVER had!
It had a side of Raspberry and semi sweet glace' that I drizzled on top and I was in heaven.. My husband ate it with me at home and he was sober as a judge. He said the same. OUTSTANDING!!
All I can say it ..
Make that resi because it is SOOOO worth it!!
BTW-- The service was fantastic as well. There when you wanted them, not when you you didn't.
Perfect! 10 out of 10!!!

Our meals were very good with a depth of flavor. We especially liked the brussel sprouts for an appetizer. Portions were also very generous and neither of us were able to finish our entrees, after splitting the one appetizer, without pushing ourselves to an uncomfortable point.

Great experience. My second time here. Both times the food, service and atmosphere were a 10/10! Will definitely be back.

This place is a MUST!!!! Stumbled upon this restaurant and it was incredible to say the least. The service was the best I’ve had in awhile, it was so refreshing! Everyone was so attentive, caring, and accommodating. The presentation of every dish was magnificent and all the flavors were to die for! The outdoor dining is so sweet and I couldn’t recommend this place more.

Square Cafe is one of my very favorite restaurants that I have been coming to for years. Whether it’s a special occasion or a nice dinner with family/friends, the service and food are fantastic. Some favorites of mine are the Thai mussels, chili noodles, yellowfin tuna, and salmon. The bread pudding is also to die for!

Lovely restaurant with wonderfully interesting menu. Creative flavor combinations make for a rich selection of sandwiches, salads and entrees. Warm cozy inside seating and plenty of outdoor patio tables. Full bar and substantial wine list. Top notch service.

I have been twice and ordered the same thing twice. I love the homemade dumplings and their yellow noodles. It is a special occasion place for us. The restaurant is in a beautiful part of Hingham, too.

One of the best of South shore. Every meal is amazing. Cocktails top notch. I am incredibly critical and I have never had a bad meal. One of my favorites.

Second visit here and equally as spectacular. Beet salad beyond what you could imagine. Shrimp appetizer amazing. Dumpling appetizer amazing. Pan seared scallops spectacular as well as steak. Great wine list. Ambiance lovely. Service amazing. Our new favorite place. We will visit again and again. ❤

Okay, I hope the owner reads this and respond. I probably have dine at this restaurant 15 times it my favorite place when I leave the city. But this the 3 time I have had a reservation 5:30 for dinner and I walk in to a table for 12, table for 8 . The noise levels are so uncomfortable that I just wanted to leave. I stay eat fast and left.
I watched every one feel real uncomfortable.
I Done it not working with me anymore.
Great place gone bad . I can't tell how disappointed I am. The place is very special and small it not a banquet room for a wedding. If you need that then close for functions only . It was surprisingly outside dinner was totally booked.

Well I must say our time at this beautiful restaurant was just wonderful from the start. There were 3 gals at the hostess/ check-in station but we were lucky enough to get Carol who was just THE NICEST GAL you could ask for. We arrived a bit early and the bar was crowded so she went and got us martinis and brought them to us at a waiting area with comfy seating.
We did not wait long for our table which we had reservations for. Our server was a young handsome man named Nick… he too was spot on. Well versed with the menu he was very helpful. All 4 of us ordered different entrees and all were quite delicious.
We never order dessert but the others in the party wanted one so we got the chocolate lava cake which was a spectacular sight to see.. AND OUT OF THIS WORLD! Got 4 spoons so we all had lots of bites.
All in all it was a 10! If you haven’t been then you are truly missing out on some fine dining! Thank you to everyone who made out dinner out so terrific!

We have been having dinner at the Square for years good for any occasion great waiting service great food
