Grand Coulee Dam Visitor Center

Most off-beat under-rated place we've been to. Grand coulee dam may not seem as grand but it's so wide that it generates 5 times more power than Hoover dam (which is far more popular). Amazing beauty with a lot to learn in the visitor center. The city itself is too scenic, reminded us of Grand Canyon, Kings Canyon National parks with a hint of Sedona's landscape. All in one.

I highly recommend checking out the "Balancing Act" game they have on display. I have a newfound respect for the monster of a challenge it presents. The museum experience was incredibly interactive, making it engaging for visitors of all ages. The staff were super helpful and knowledgeable, adding to the overall positive experience. If you're looking for a fun and educational outing, this museum is definitely worth a visit.

Educational and informative. Many interesting videos and artifacts about a little know incredible feat of human creation.

Great spot to stop. Lots of olden days photos and a spot to take a break with cold water and restrooms. Make sure you come back for the dam laser show at dark! One recommendation, turn up the volume or add a speaker in the park for us tourists with no data. Thanks! Loved the laser show!

Great place that shares the stories of how one of the largest contruction projects in America was formed. Highly recommend you take a look. Afterwords head up to the East side of the dam for a 1 hour Dam tour. Oh it’s free too!

Great views, everything you would want in a dam. It’s got a dam parking lot, dam seats, dam grease, dam deer. It’s got dam everything!

The visitors center closes at 5:30 while the laser show doesn’t start until past 9. So keep that in mind when you show up!

Great free experience, it was fun to see how the dam was built, staff was very friendly.

The GCD visitor center is well thought out, very informative, and kid friendly. I have been there several times over the years and enjoy it every time!

You really need several hours to take in everything the Visitor Center has to offer. Fascinating exhibits!

Cool place to visit to learn the history of the Coulee Dam and surrounding areas. Incredible stories by the people who settled in the area to build this amazing dam during the depression! Several movies to view are offered at times throughout the open hours. Incredibly beautiful park is adjacent to the center with views of the dam. At night during the summer season there is a laser light show that is projected onto the dam with amazing stories of the dam and local native tribes. Definitely a place to visit!

Impressive exhibits of the Grand Coulee Dam. Free admission. Nice to learn about the construction of the dam. Of course, it is nowhere near as cool as the tour of the dam itself, but it is a good intro. Take some time to visit.

A comprehensive location to get educated about the Grand Coulee Dam! Lots of models and displays showing the history along with the planning and building of the dam. Really cool hands on exhibits for kids and adults alike that show the inner mechanics and how the dam produces electricity. Along with regular restroom facilities, they also have a family restroom available for groups with kids. The parking lot would have a wonderful view of the laser show!

My family and I came here last weekend. The center was closed for the season. But we didn't mind. We got pretty good views of the Dam. They have stone picnic tables there. A small section where people can sit for the light show. I would have to come back when the center is open.

There was so much information here at the visitor's center, about not only the dam and how it was built, but the native history and geological history as well! There are videos you can watch by request, and the guides were helpful.

Must see for all ages… if you are within driving distance come late and see the 30min laser light show after dark! Sit on the bleachers or in the park—They turn the water up on the spillway to show the production images sharper…. If IMAX and Disneys Fantasia….it’s like that!

Super cool. Spent night boon-docking at top of dam. Went down in morning to see the magnificent work. Cool yo know it powers so many places on my trip. Highly recommend PK’s Culinary in Grand Coulee for a meal following. Great place for a picnic by dam.

So much information and a light show in the evenings! Many parking levels to choose from. Stop at them all! There is a tour available as well. More water processed into electricity than at Hoover Dam! May not be as high but much wider. Lots of information about the history or the area.

Great place to visit. Remarkable history and lots to see plenty of photo opportunities. The visitor center is closed but the park and grounds are open for a nice walk.
