We visited this monument on the Nez Perce reservation in the late 1990's. A family field trip to help with oldest son's school project.
It was very humbling to see someone's Letterman's jacket sheltering the marker.

I was told as a young one that Chief Joseph was originally buried there and moved later. I learned in grade school the he was buried there only to find out he was moved before I was taught that. Still very proud to have that part of history on my Reservation
