Sanford-Yake Campground

Best State Park we have been to! The views from sunrise to sunset are just incredible! We had a campsite with electric and water. You’ll pass a Dumpstation on your way to your campsite. We had site 3 and couldn’t have been happier with it! There are restrooms and showers within walking distance. They are decent if your not that picky. They would be cleaner if people would clean up after themselves. There is a furnace running in the bathrooms so it’s never too cold.
Perfect place to stay for a few days or a week !

Clean, easy to maneuver with a small camper. Lake is not easily accessible, but great views. A few sites with electrical/water hook up, mostly sites with just picnic tables and fire rings.

Very nice campground no reservations needed. Was pretty loud at 7pm when we arrived a ton of boaters drinking having fun but it all settled down by 10 and we had a quiet night. Tornado style winds just about wiped us off the cliff but I can't blame the campsite. Awesome views. Shade shelters.

A lake in the middle of nowhere! Huge views. Widely separated sites. Nice showers. Some water/electric sites. Many free dry camp sites.

Awesome views of the lake, beautiful sunsets. Perfect for photos, showers are nice and hot bathrooms are clean. Garbage close to all the campsites as well as a dumpster. Love this place can't wait to come back here

No entrance fee. $24 a night to camp is reasonably priced for 45 ft long level cement pad with electricity, water, and a shaded picnic table nearby plus shower house above with flush toilets. Saw 2 dump stations well situated. Beautiful views of the lake. All personnel were helpful and pleasant. Stay on the paved or gravel roads or plan for you and your dog to pick up a ton of burs. Have a long haired dog. Fun picking and combing out the burs. Park is well maintained. Trash cans every where. There is no reason for people dropping their trash on the ground or leaving in burn pits. Show some respect for yourself and fill the trash cans instead. Maybe prices can be lowered if less labor is required to maintain the park. Wish we lived close to the park. Would consider to help pick up litter for exercise and to show thankfulness for the resource.

Very enjoyable stay. Stayed one night at Fritch Fortress and intended to move on, but upon exploring, found Sanford-Yake campground and a great spot. Fritch Fortress campground has some high bluff beautiful views of the lake, but the dispersed spots are basically just pull offs and we didn’t feel comfortable extending our slides. Sanford-Yate is just the opposite with roomy spots, covered picnic tables, trash receptacles and, did I mention free?

Great place for family fun! Whether it is for a long weekend or even just the weekend. Campsites are well kept, clean and perfect location to Marina and docks.

Great place to relax and unwind... Great open sky for storm and star watching. Free and pay spots. Quiet but not isolated.

finding the marina to check in was a bit challenging as the directions on their website takes you to a campground a few miles from the marina. Other than that it was a great place. The marina staff were absolutely fantastic. Very friendly and made us feel like veey welcome. Fishing was good. I would definitely recommend this place.

Great FREE camping spot ! Electric & water hookup for an extra nominal fee. Clean restrooms with flush toilets and SHOWERS ! Lots of sites with shade shelters and picnic tables. VERY windy !

Beautiful site, view of the lake. Campground has showers and dump stations. Very windy when I was there. Also had a wildfire burning, waiting to hear if being evacuated.

Unfortunately too many idiotss drop trash, junk, clean fish on dining tables, leave nasty mess in bathrooms etc.....
SO SAD.

Please behave like kind human beings & clean up like we had too.

Yes, it is not our job. But make it a better place when you leave then when you arrived.

We cleaned up cans bottles wire boots fish mess trash & just discussing garbage. Two big boxes, so sad people are completely blind to their failures.

Please lead by example & this place will be nice when you return.

Great place for primitive camping. Grounds are well-kept and the views are beautiful. Showers are warm. *Lots* of mosquitoes though, but they can’t do anything about that. Make sure you bring mosquito repellent !!!!!

What a nice campground! Clean, quiet and beautiful. The sites are spread far apart from each other, giving much privacy, despite very few trees. The view of the lake is stunning, especially as the sun sets. Wow!
We could only stop for the night but wish we had a little longer to enjoy the views and lake.
Thank you to Alyssa at the marina who helped with our reservation. She was polite and efficient. Very good at her job! And the park was very clean and well-maintained; thanks to the rest of the staff as well.
If you are near Amarillo and need a nice place to stop, definitely make the few extra miles to do so at Sanford-Yake campground!

Located just five miles from Fritch Texas in the Lake Merideth National Recreation Area, you'll find plenty of free camping and hot showers. The Inner circle has RV Hookups but must be reserved with Reserve America. Trash pickup and bathroom are cleaned every three days. You may stay here fourteen days free Camping. Sanford- Yakes is the bigger camp on Lake Merideth.

This campground has great clean bathrooms , great views and you can dry camp for free or bring your RV . Is very close to the marina and a the closest store has ice and everything you could need while camping. Make sure you dog is has a leash during our night there a skunk spray our dog , keep an eye on those

Very large lake. Plenty of room for camping, boating, fishing or just spending the day wading in the water.
