Watonwan WPA East Parking Lot

This is a wildlife protection area. I come here for one reason, birds. There is a nice body of water that is just right to draw in shore birds. There are not very many areas like this in south central MN, so many a local birder will be found here looking at the special wildlife.

This is a fantastic Waterfowl Production Area for wildlife viewing (great birds), but like most WPAs, there are no trails. (You can however see quite a lot just from the gravel road along the side.) The 'parking lots' are just roped-off grass which is mowed infrequently, but it's also safe to pull over along the gravel side road.
