Fun museum exhibits, not just focused on Billy but New Mexico. Informative, and well laid out. Spent a lot of time just wandering. The gift shop was fun but typically touristy

Loved going through here. I was on crutches, due to a knee surgery, so couldn't stand and read everything as much as I wanted to. Can't wait for another return visit again. See more things I didn't see the first time through.

This was a really cool stop. They offer a treasure trove of historical information and artifacts on not just William Bonney but the area itself. It's definitely a must-see.

Fun museum, super nice owners. Plan to spend about 1.5 hrs here. Some interesting info and artifacts from Billy the Kid plus a whole lot more including the history of eastern NM. Impressive gun display including the Kid's rifle. Old carriages, cars, and you name it....typewriters, tools, wood stoves. Well worth the $5 admission.

We visited the museum in July 2022. It was pretty late in the afternoon but they welcomed us in. It was the most amazing experience because we kind of got a personal tour by the son of the man who originally opened the museum. It was so unreal to speak with the owners son who personally heard the story from the man who carried Billy the Kid's dead body to the barber shop! He said he was probably around 8 years old. This place is definitely worth a stop!!! Great gift shop as well!

Got some great pictures, books, souvenirs, and information here. I'm a super huge fan of Billy the Kid. So happy that I was finally able to visit. Worth the drive. Owner was very friendly and knowledgeable. Although I still want to believe that Billy was a lefty, like me. :)

Incredible museum! Plan on spending several hours here. There is so much history and a ton of rooms to go through. Inside and outside exhibits. The 90 year old that runs the museum is the soon of the man who founded it in the 50s. I've been to a lot of museums, this one takes the cake.

Lots of Billy the Kid, lots of everything else. If you're into retro- from the 1850s to the 1950s- you'll find it here. Minimum 1 hour, not to see everything but to pick and choose what appeals to you. For instance, just the Billy the Kid stuff. Seeing everything would take at least a day. Super friendly and hospitable staff.

As someone who didn't know who Billy the Kid was (i know, I heard you gasp 😝), this was a very interesting place! All the memorabilia and all different kinds of things from his era, had to be the coolest! There are uniforms, buttons, money, typewriters, buggies (no horses), mock graves, old cars, etc! If you're in this area, STOP HERE! Even if you don't like/know Billy the Kid, it's awesome to see what life was like back then!

We were blessed enough to be the first ones to visit that day so we got a personalized tour from Mr. Don Sweet, the founders son. What an honor it was to spend the morning with him. The museum is full of amazing items and wonderful history. This place will forever be in our hearts. We visited during our 2 yr anniversary

23 Dec 2022 I passed through NM bound for OK and saw this pop up on the map. I detoured off of I - 40 and made the drive down, and was glad to see it open. There was a ton of stuff to see. Lots of firearms, knick knacks, and well-planned displays. The small auto museum was a bonus, and the gift shop was great. There are outdoor sections, so if you come in winter bundle up for those.

Based on the museum's name I figured the place would be some tiny hole-in-the-wall, with little to offer for the price of admission. I was very pleasantly surprised. Though The Kid does factor into several displays in the museum, there are a multitude of artifacts, weapons, and vehicles from well before and after Pat Garrett took his quarry. This museum is well worth a visit.

One of the most amazing collections we've seen for an incredibly low cost of 5.00 a person. The gift shop is huge.

We visited the 24th of September. I was definitely not expecting the museum to be as large as it was. There are vast amounts of collections, (period clothing, imported China, guns and knives, furniture, vehicles, buggies and stagecoaches, all kinds of great stuff).
The owner is very nice and helpful. The gift shop is huge. The museum is well maintained and organized. I highly recommend this place, especially if you enjoy learning about history.

Great place to visit if you appreciate old western history and the story of Billy the kid. They've got a bit of everything here and it's a bigger museum than I expected.
