River Rock Cafe

We ate here for dinner and breakfast in early June while on a bicycle trip and found it to be a charming place with a wonderful atmosphere. The staff was short-handed but everyone hustled and was friendly. The food was excellent and there were good choices for local beer. This is absolutely the best place to eat in Walden.

This is a hidden gem nestled in the Rocky Mountain backroads. The decor was dripping with mountain old country charm. The food was awesome, and Karen, our waitress, was very accommodating, Their Reuben was one of the best I've had. They even had sweet tea (which is hard to find this far north). Even the wood beams had fine hand carving. We had some blackberry cobbler that was incredible.

We had the dinner size salad, which was beautiful and tasty.
We also had French dip with sweet potato fries, which was also tasty.
Our service was exceptional.

We had the best burgers there and the service was awesome! We have two toddlers and Karen was amazing with them. I don’t think we would have lasted as long had it not been for her. The kids loved their chicken, Mac and applesauce. They also loved the ramps that go up and down. Thank you to the staff that allowed this. You all were amazing, especially Karen.

Wow! Amazing place …. Burger was the best I have had in a long time - cooked to perfection. Charming atmosphere, VERY friendly and attentive service. A MUST VISIT if you are traveling through town.

Absolutely loved this place! OMG...you HAVE TO TRY THE CARROT CAKE! Meat is all fresh and locally sourced. Proces are reasonable, and the staff is friendly. Wife even wanted a well done burger. It was super moist and full of flavor. Great jem in Walden

I asked to gravy the whole plate. Beef sand with mashed, mush, and bacon. Mmmmm.

It was super packed when we visited, so we opted to place a to go order.
We waited quite a while before someone took our order, but everyone was super kind and made sure to periodically check on us.
We ordered a Walden burger and a chicken fried steak. Both were so delicious.
Definitely plan on returning.

This little gem is tucked away inside this small town. It is a gorgeous restaurant with amazing food. Steaks were cooked to order and delicious. I would definitely recommend stopping in and trying this place out for yourself.

This is my first time staying in Walden and it's been pretty great! I tried the Blackened Swai (which I had never even heard of) and it truly is my new favorite fish. The way they prepared it was not only tasty, it was juicy and perfectly cooked. It was served with fresh green beans cooked with bacon,yum!! Our table also enjoyed the chicken fried steak, sweet potato fries, onion rings, mashed potatoes with white gravy, and the grilled chicken salad. It was all delicious and nobody left hungry. They also make a pretty great Bloody Mary. The staff are friendly and attentive. We will return for sure!

We really enjoyed our lunch here. Didn't expect much but it far exceeded. We had burgers and they were delicious! Also enjoyed the onion rings and cobbler. Want to return for that chocolate cake that looked so amazing.

Service was fast and friendly.

Good food, nice atmosphere, nice people. I was just passing through but will definitely stop here again next time I'm around. They serve breakfast until 10:30 then lunch at 11.

This place was a pleasant surprise while staying in this more remote area. As a vegan I was pretty sure there would be nothing to eat, but when I asked they told me about the Mediterranean Delight that wasn't on the menu yet even though it is available. It was way better than anything else I have had in such a small town - eggplant, artichoke hearts, sundried tomatoes, and seasoning on a flatbread. Definitely exceeded my expectations and it is great to know that there is a place here that can accommodate vegans and vegetarians. For breakfast they made me oatmeal without milk which was so kind, because again it is not a regular menu item. Beyond the fact that I could actually eat here, the atmosphere and staff were even better than the food. They let me and my brother work there multiple times and did not mind that we needed outlet access or that we stayed for quite a while. Bottom line, if you are a vegan or vegetarian and find yourself in Walden, CO then this is the place to go.

Very charming place, the decor was awesome, I felt like I was in an expensive log cabin. I had the prime rib breakfast special, medium rare, cooked and seasoned to perfection. Staff was friendly and the place was spotless. If I'm ever in the area again, I will make it point to stop in and eat.

Fresh meat , 5 stars service and cute atmosphere. Mallory was very sweet with us and recommended the most popular items in the menu , she made our experience even better . The 🍔 are from another planet , juicy and taste like homemade burgers . If you go there ask for Mallory and get the best service !!

1/2# Green Chili Burger w/ Sweet Potato Fries. A very tasty meal!!!

We were camping in the State Park and decided to go into town for lunch. We loved this place. Their beef is delicious. I had a French dip and my son had the hot beef. We cleaned our plates. Limited menu but had just what we needed including cold beer! Definitely check out this cozy spot.

We all had burgers and a whiskey after a long day of fishing, staff was friendly and helpful, food was fantastic and service was quick and easy. Could use some music to help the atmosphere in a very cool place but would highly suggest the place overall.

We had the special, pork roast. It was cooked perfectly and full of flavor. The service was very attentive and kind.
