Sheila Smyth loves to start fires with her words over the phone. Absolutely no phone etiquette at all. She could truly benefit from a communications or customer service course. I called slightly agitated because I was charged twice by what seems to be the City of Quincy listed on my credit card. She thought it would be appropriate to correct me saying it’s not “you guys” charging you. So your using the wrong words. Listen I don’t work for the tax collectors office I don’t know about their third party websites they’re using however she could have nicely said I understand this frustration we utilize a third party website to collect payments and they’d be the ones who accidentally charged you. So dam simple I can’t stand a woman who doesn’t know how to talk with people nor render CUSTOMER SERVICE. It got messy just because she couldn’t do her job in a nice and understanding way.

They are not just rude they are also incompetent. How hard it is to look at the records of made payments? At first the lady that answered the phone did not want to give to me that information. her - "You have to come in" me- "Why" her-"Because we have to figure that out" me- "figure WHAT out. You have the records - there's nothing to figure out". Now that is the rude part she was extremely rude and annoyed. Hello, lady - THAT IS YOUR JOB! Now, I explicitly asked for the payments made in the calendar year. She gave me the numbers but seeing how rude, ignorant and incompetent she is (she needs to FIGURE OUT things to read 4 numbers) I wanted to double check. Realized that I can probably get payment history from Unipay and sure enough what she gave me was NOT what I paid. She gave me the bills not the amount actually paid - I prepaid the first quarter of the next year and she did not give me that. Rude, useless, ignorant. What a shame.

I want to just give 0 Star. The operator is so rude and is not willing to help. I wanted to double check my current real estate tax because I were not sure if my bank pay it or not. The operator checked and told me the number. When I questioned again, she said you ask me to check, then I check, here is the number I saw in the system. What???? I paid so much tax to the city every year and that's the attitude I deserved to get???? It is so bad.

Operator was curt and wasn't willing to allow me to break up payments on the excise tax. Not everyone can come up with $600 in 3 weeks.

I’ve been trying to contact the office for over a month. No answer and no one has called me back. Extremely upsetting.
