Janine's Hair Studio

I can't say enough good things about Janine. She's amazing. My color is always perfect, and after years of searching for someone who actually knows how to cut curly hair, I've found her. Her studio is impeccably clean, bright and welcoming. She is sweet and friendly and always offers great advice on my hair and products to try. I always look forward to my appointments. I would follow her to any salon! 5 stars!

Another fantastic style by Janine! I have been going to Janine for over 5 years, she has always been super nice, knowledgeable and very professional.

When I first met Janine she was at a salon where she had been for nearly 6 years, and it was clear she was a leader there asssiting the owner with many things not just another stylist. I believe it is that experience as well as her previous salon (over 5 years) that gives her the experience to have opened her own place.

I love her salon, it is in a professional location easy to get to with plenty of parking and other professionals surrounding her for a complete experience. I also like that it is quiet with no hurrying you in and out that you find in a lot salons on a Saturday morning, it is truly a relaxing experience.

I like her so much I have referred many people to her who all continue to go to her!

MOST TALENTED hairdresser? JANINE GILL. I have been with her for years. For so long, I had been looking for a professional hairdresser who would truly listen to the kind of style and color that I wanted and understand my hair type. Janine is an artist who goes about her work with great precision. Ever the professional, she has a charming shop that is warm and inviting - just like her. Make an appointment with her! You will be glad that you did.

I have been highlighting my hair for several years and unfortunately it was quite damaged when I went to Janine. Janine spent nearly 5 hours in one session to repair my poor damaged hair cuticles. I am so happy to report that I love my new hair. Janine spent hours meticulously foiling my hair and adding demension to my brassy blonde. The cut is impeccable and she spent time carefully placing interior layers to add bounce and texture to my wavy hair. Janine also gave me some amazing tips on how to keep my hair healthy. Janine's prices are more than reasonable and I will never go anywhere else again. Thank you Janine, for making my hair beautiful and giving me confidence. Janine is a bright, positive, and beautiful individual who has turned her career into an art form. Her salon is clean and bright and exudes positive energy. I can't wait to go back.

Janine listens to exactly what you want, and delivers! Even if she thinks it wont work, she gives awesome suggestions. She is worth more than five stars. Not to mention i love her non chaotic enviorment she gives with her adorable studio salon. I suggest her to everyone looking for a stylist. And ill add, her haircuts are the best!

I've been seeing Janine for 5+ years. Janine is talented, professional, accommodating, and an awesome colorist and stylist.

First off, I don't like to write negative reviews, and I'm easy going and pretty relaxed.

I just recently moved to the area from Seattle for a job with a technology company in Boston, so of course I'm looking for a new hairdresser. I live in Norwood, I'm 38, professional, and I'm used to spending money for superior hair services.

I was asking around with my new coworkers for recommendations. One of the ladies told me she's been going to Janine's for several years - I guess the story is Janine has been in her small studio for just a short amount of time, but I guess she did some short stints at several other area salons, then quit and brought her accumulated clients with her to her studio rental setup. I was skeptical, but decided to go on her recommendation.

Well I took the plunge. Saturday morning appointment a little while back. Walked into the lobby of the studios, and it was pretty quiet considering there are several independent hairdressers in there. I sat for a few and Janine came out to get me, and introduced herself with a smile, and motioned for me to follow her. The place is like walking down a hotel hallway, with studios on each side. There wasn't a lot of energy in there though.

I sat in her chair for a chat about what I was looking to do. I didn't want anything to drastically change, just freshen up my highlights and a trim. Janine made some odd recommendations, which I didn't agree with, as I had tried them before with other hairdressers, and know they don't work for my hair and face shape. Janine seemed to get a little standoff-ish and annoyed that I didn't agree with her, which made me uncomfortable because I had just met her and felt kinda trapped in her little studio, with her about to touch my hair for the first time.
I decided to just freshen up my color and no cut or trim today, mainly because if something went wrong, I can fix a color a lot easier than a bad cut.
So she went to the corner to mix my color and returned to apply it. Her hands seemed a tiny bit shaky, like from when someone is hung over, not saying she was, just an observation.

To make a long story short, my color came out average, but definitely not upscale or amazing.
The overall experience was subpar, and I just didn't like Janine's aura or the vibe of those small suite salons. My hair looked like I just did it myself with a box of L'Oreal from CVS. Fine, but for $60+...
I won't hold it against my coworker, but I think her friendship with Janine clouds her judgement regarding Janine's actual skill level.
Will NOT return!
