Minnie's Uptown Restaurant

Worth a few minute drive off our route from SW Florida to Birmingham. Go hungry and enjoy huge portions of homemade comfort southern food. Had catfish, flounder and hamburger lunches with 2 sides. Mashed sweet potatoes, mashed potatoes and gravy with collard greens. All was so delicious. Flounder was a bit dry so the wonderfully accommodating manager happily offered another dish. Their tartar and hot sauces were on point too. Off veterans near Hwy 280 in the historic district of Colombus near Ft Benning. I love Minnie's and try to visit whenever I'm in Columbus. Most recently, I got baked chicken, green beans, and collard greens. The chicken was moist and flavorful. The green beans and greens were so yummy. That day, they were offering collards and turnip greens. It was a difficult decision. Maybe next time I'll choose the turnips. Either way, everything I ate fit my low-carb lifestyle.

I love Minnie’s. The food is so good that I would eat here no matter what. However, this place is run by some of the nicest people in town. I ordered a pan of cornbread dressing to bring to our work thanksgiving potluck. I picked it up frozen the day before and after 20 hrs in the fridge and an hour in the oven, it was time to leave the house and my dressing was still not ready. I called Minnie’s in a panic to ask if they had another hot one I could pick up right then, and they did. Even though it was not their fault, they were incredibly accommodating and refused to let me pay for the second pan. They were so kind and absolutely saved the day. And most importantly, the dressing was piping hot and absolutely delicious. Thank you, Minnie’s. 💕

Minnie's exists as a staple in Columbus, GA. Anytime there are friends visiting, or there are prospective students for the music school coming to town, this is THE place that we visit. The portions are heavy-handed, the food is absolutely delicious, the service is prompt and always incredibly welcoming. In my mind, if you enjoy southern comfort food, you will not find a better place to eat lunch in all of Columbus. I hope to visit this establishment for years to come!

Great food. Have to hunt for parking but is well worth it. Buffet style where they put your food on your plate. Plenty of room to sit and eat. My favorite place to eat in Columbus, Ga.

I used to be stationed out here so I drove 745 miles to come to Minnie’s for a good meal! I miss this soo much I didn’t even get a picture before I went in on my plate my first time trying the fried steak and it was great. Still love the fried chicken and baked chicken more! I’m one satisfied customer!!!

Nice meat and three cafeteria style restaurant! Food was good! Take your lunch to go and walk a few blocks down to the Chattahoochee River!

The food was ok a bit on the salty side, and I'm not a fan of vegetables. The service was awesome it was my first time there, and I would definitely go back because the friendliness of the staff.

Awesome southern cooking. Your usual meat and three veg kinda spot, perfect for lunch and simply delicious. No pretention here, just good food and good folks.

A wonderful experience of a down home southern lunch. Cafeteria-style seating and delicious meats and sides. The catfish is fantastic (watch out for the bones, of course), plus the grits and collard greens will win over anyone uninitiated to their majesty. Looking forward to returning soon!

A group of about 24 from church went there for lunch. Great experience!! The group size did not scare them and the ordering and serving was very quick and efficient.( Cafeteria style). The eatery is very clean and quite large inside. Doesn't look like much from the outside but makes up for it in the quality of food!! The best fried chicken ever. The fried okra and broccoli casserole were great, as was there salad. If you haven't been, you owe it to your stomach and taste buds to try it!

An institution in Columbus. Minnie may have passed on, but her spirit lives on in the fantastic southern faire served up hot and fresh everyday. The chicken, greens and jalapeno cheesy mac are incredible. Get the cheesecake, if they have it, and thank me later.

Minnie's has the best macaroni and cheese, fried chicken, and the dressing is delicious too. This picture is of the meatloaf; was good, I think I will try the chicken and dumplings on my next visit.

Minnie’s is a gem in Columbus! The smell of home cooking hits you as soon as you get to the door. Homemade cakes and meat and veggies…what’s not to love?! Cornbread…peas…and more!

Amazing food!!!! Sad we were only visiting town and don’t have this food closer to home! Highly recommend!!!
