The Black Cow

I have heard a lot of good reviews about the Black Cow so I had been looking forward to trying it out. It did not disappoint. It's located in a good area of downtown; I'm walking distance to Broadway. I enjoyed the chicken and waffles plate. The fried chicken was juicy and tender and not oily. If you like jalapeno jelly, the pimento bacon cheeseburger. It's delicious. It is a small restaurant so be prepared to hear your neighbor's conversations 😆

I absolutely loved the Pimento Cheese Burger with pineapple Casserole as a side. My husband enjoyed his Shrimp and Grits, for the kids, we ordered off the appetizer menu and split it between them. We ordered fried green beans, fried green tomatoes, Meatloaf sliders. They enjoyed trying something other than the kids' menu. We loved their crispy batter for their green beans and green tomatoes. 💚

Food is top notch! Service is amazing! Atmosphere is perfect.
During their busy hours of you have volume sensory issues, might want to wait till less busy hours. It does get boxy here. But it's well with it!

My husband got the steakhouse burger and fries(bacon, blue cheese, onions, vinegar, and (optional condiments) mustard. I got the chicken and waffles with pineapple casserole. You get 4 large pieces of chicken on a beautifully cooked waffle with a sweet syrup and fresh bacon pieces! I loved every bite!! 💜💜
Husband's burger is his second favorite burger!

came in with a party of 8 and was quickly seated (we sat outside). delicious southern style food and awesome staff. definitely recommend to anyone in the area looking for a great meal.

A must stop if ever strolling through DT Columbus! I sat alone at the bar and was treated like a local (royalty). My pimento cheese burger (pictured) was outstanding. I asked the kind bartender to make her favorite drink and it was exquisite! I’ve been a few times.. everything on the menu is worth your money.

This was pretty good. I got a huge peice of fish, and the fries were crisp. Good tarter sauce also. 👌

Went on a Tuesday night, and it was packed. Always a good sign. Had to try a burger at The Black Cow, right? Very good. Loved hanging out here.

Had the meatloaf and yes the black woman who can cook gives the meatloaf a 10/10! Fried green tomatoes and pineapple casserole were ALL DELICIOUS

OK, overall, it's a great place to eat and enjoy a drink. Nate was the best server I have had in ages. Same personality, humor, and reminded me of an old coworker who had passed. Just unfortunate some military f's stiffed him as a party of 8. Anyway, I loved interacting with him, and he had good beer recommendations. The food was good too, just needed better lighting for my old eyes. Lol

This place is amazing!! The food was top tier and the prices are reasonable. The hype about the meatloaf is true, and the fried pork chops were great.

Update: I had to make sure the meatloaf was consistently amazing. The meatloaf is advertised as being the best in the South. It's not a false advertisement!! Men lie, women lie, but this meatloaf is the TRUTH!!!
The sauce is ketchup based, but it is sweet. The meat is so tender and moist. It doesn't have anything extra special about the flavor; it's just meatloaf done extraordinarily well.
The macaroni was creamy, cheesy, and delicious. My only complaint is that it's not served all the time.

Updated update: The peach mules are delicious, and so is the BLT dip.

Tried this local spot - we are from Florida and in town- I had the meatloaf after the reviews kept saying it was awesome and I was not disappointed- my husband had Philly cheese steak!!! Crab cake appetizers were delicious as well-

Uptown did not disappoint. The Black Cow was fun and the food was perfect. We each tried something different to try as first time here. I would highly recommend to make this your choice for lunch or dinner as we would go back when back in Columbus, GA.

Attended a concert at the Civic Center and wanted to eat nearby. 30 min wait on a Friday. Had the fried pork chop dinner it was so good.

So happy we found the black cow! It pimento burger was phenomenal and the salmon sammich was deciding and moist. The greens were the perfect ratio of hot sauce and vinegar. Not too sour or too hot. Their sweet potato fries were perfectly crisp and flavorful. Service was attentive and the atmosphere was inviting and relaxing.

The food was beyond amazing. The fried green tomatoes and goat cheese tower is mind blowing. I had the tilapia it was perfect the sauce was just right also not to heavy so that it over powered the dish. My husband has the shrimp and grits he loved it and it was a huge portion. We also chatted with the table next to us and she surprised us by paying for our meal. We will definitely come back will be worth the 2.5 hr drive.

Absolutely delicious! We learned of this restaurant from the parents of some of the recent army, basic training soldiers. Had dinner there today and it was absolutely remarkable. I had the steak tips, with pineapple casserole, (which I have never heard of, but LOVED) and collard greens. My wife had the crabcakes and she said they were wonderful. Super friendly service. Reasonable prices. High-quality all the way around. Fun casual environment.

Unbeknownst to us, we arrived about 30 mins before closing. We were happily greeted and promptly seated. Since it was our first time, we took suggestions from the server. The meatloaf and collard greens were the BEST!! The fried green tomatoes were large, crunchy, & delicious!! We did try the pineapple casserole and didn't like it. Instead of having the attitude of "you ordered it, deal with it" our server offered another side to try. My bf had the shrimp & white cheddar grits. The tender shrimp and grits were OUTSTANDING!! I also ordered a pork chops plate to go. The pork chops were HUGE & so delicious!! The dishes are VERY reasonably priced. We DEFINITELY recommend The Black Cow!! The staff and food are AWESOME!! The Black Cow will from now on be our GO TO for good old home cooking comfort food!!

While traveling home from out of town we decided to pull over for lunch. We found The Black Cow by searching for restaurants and pulled in. BEST DECISION EVER! The server Tabitha was awesome and so was my salmon BLT. The atmosphere was pleasing and left feeling like our money was well spent!

Love the decor of the restaurant. Very chill spot. The bartender was sweet and knowledgeable of the menu. We started with the blt dip, Mango margarita for me, and jameson with ginger for my husband. My husband had the meatloaf with green beans, and I had the ribeye with mashpotatoes. Everything came out pretty fast. Looked and tasted amazing. Love the atmosphere and food. We will definitely be frequent customers.

We returned to try the salmon BLT and the shrimp and grits. Delicious as always. Great portion size and presentation. Fast and friendly service. All around, a wonderful date night experience
