Abington Ale House & Grill

I have eaten here twice, and both times, the food was fantastic! I just recently ate here again. We had the BEST Waiter!! His name is Ryan "from the North Shore"..lol. He was very professional, personable and had the best customer service! He was a delight to have apart of our dining experience.

Love coming here, Cindy and Laura are amazing! They make the best espresso martinis on the south shore kid you not! Food is great too! Very welcoming. If you need a quick bite and great service definitely stop in !

The wife and I stop here once in a while. While I bounce around the menu.l trying new things as I have a tendency of doung. My wife she loves the Kung Pow Chicken 🐔 wrap. (See the picture I attached) she loves it. It is one of the few things on the menu I would order again. My salad tonight was a boring house salad with plain grilled chicken. I didn't think anyone wanted to see a picture of it. Even though it was a great salad 🥗

I love the Abington Ale House! I've been there enough now to know that I'm going to get great food and service every time because I never experienced anything different. Most recently I was in for lunch with my daughter and our server was so friendly and sweet and funny! We ordered 2 sandwich plates and split them. One was a brisket special and the other was a pastrami. The brisket was out of this world and the pastrami was as good as any deli worth it's salt could serve up! A gentleman possibly a manager? Owner? Stopped by our table and asked how our lunch was going and I was happy to tell him much of what I'm telling you now. He was a really good natured guy and was thoroughly pleased to hear it. The decor here is also really cool. But you've got to see it for yourself. I've gushed enough already!

We enjoyed a dinner on a Friday night , the food was really good. JB was our waiter and he was nice and attentive. We got the fried pickles for an app, and the steak special for that day for $28 and the brisket dinner for $21. Everything was very good.

Awesome experience, came in with a big group and our server named Luke was excellent. He was very kind and super efficient in taking a lot of orders at once. We had a great time for my brothers birthday and appreciated our servers patience and attention to detail! Definitely will be coming back soon. Food was awesome!

Haven't been hear in many years. Food was good, service was great.

Service:

We had a party of eight and was paired with John Brown as our waiter. John went through drinks and difficult food substitutions throughout the meal with zero mistakes. John was also amazingly personable and welcoming without feeling fake or over the top. His checkin times on the table was almost psychic. There was not one complaint about his service and can honestly say absolutely perfect.

Kudos to you John Brown, you just made the Worth it or NUH Server Hall of Fame! Congratulations on being our first inductee! I know who to ask for if I ever return and the name was pretty easy to remember which definitely helps!

Portions:

There were eight different meals so it was great to see the variety. The appetizer sizes were great. It took multiple people to complete one by itself. Two people tried to finish one by themself and couldn’t do it. The main course meals were well portioned too. It was nothing that was unbelievable but there was definitely more than enough and beyond average. Everyone who had appetizers did not complete their entrees. Those who had no apps completed all of their meals and joined the clean plate club. That in itself should give you a good gauge.

Taste:

We ordered a wide variety off their large menu. Firecracker cauliflower, Irish tots, bone in wings, chicken tenders, chicken clubs, mashed potatoes, salads, vegan burger, vegetables, of course steak tips and cornbread. Zero complaints. The only two things that came up were the stingy burbon after taste on the steak tips but it was the marinated flavor and some pieces were stronger than nothing so nothing out of sorts. The other was that I personally didn’t like their pickles. It was that pickle that tastes like a cucumber instead of the sour pickle flavor. If I want a cucumber I want a cucumber, if I want a pickle I want a pickle!

There was a lot of food to discuss so I’ll jus touch on the main favorites. The steak burbon glaze was different but in a good way. They were also grilled great. They were cooked longer than requested but were so good couldn’t complain. The mashed potatoes were of good consistently and even better loaded. I would have liked a baked potato instead but not going to complain on that one. One person order the steak instead of the tips and said it was the best steak they had ever had. Personally think she was exaggerating but I have to give credit where credit it due. Again, no real complaints here. The taste was on point but wouldn’t say it exploded my mouth into shockwaves of multicolored rainbows.

Value:

This one is tough because some items I was oh man that’s expensive but then when the food came with the portions and taste it lined up. I think they are pretty in line with standard pricing other than maybe a dollar or two more on certain meals but nothing to crazy. They also are one of only two places that I know of that give you a free meal on your birthday! When I hear free I am there!!

Overall:

Are you looking for a sports bar to watch the big game while eating and drinking and not feeling like your in a closet? The whole left side of the restaurant is a restraint and bar type setting. Tables, high tops or actual bar they have it. The walls surrounded by tvs next to each other all the way around not just in a few corners? Oh they got that and more! What about if you just want to eat in a quiet setting without the tv drinks or possible noise of people enjoying their life? They have that two on the right side of the place! Great scores of fours across the scoreboard with no real complaints plus great taste, variety and atmosphere this place has been added to the “regulars” list of local spots. If you are near by this and looking for somewhere to sit and eat than this isa no brainer. Also we have our first Hall of Fame service, of course this was .... WORTH IT!

We had an excellent dinner. The portions were huge. We left stuffed and had plenty of leftover. The Taco Nacho is surreal. One of the best I have ever eaten. It was enormous and had so much filling. Everyone should try it. Our server Matt was amazing. Everything came out quickly and he checked on us constantly without being overbearing.

Incredible food. We had a party of 18 and Colin did an outstanding job as a server. The kitchen sent out food for our large party in good order. Rave reviews of the Sheppard pie skillet and brisket burgers.

Celebrating my wife's birthday! Fantastic time! It just doesn't get any better than this! The food, the drinks, the Service!!! All get 5 stars.

Great food!! Had Kung Pao wraps, Country chix meal, Meatloaf burger and Ghost pepper wings. Amazing food!!!! Even had halloween theme drinks and food with real creepy crawlers in them that you can eat if you choose too. Will definitely come back and tell everyone how good they are!!

Always enjoy going here. Booths are comfy! Food is fantastic and the menu has a good variety. The kids enjoy looking at all the decor.

Great spot for families. Appetizer I recommend are the tots and meal I recommend would be the chicken pot pie. My husband and father got it and loved it.

Such an awesome place for the family, a variety of menu items that's always consistent and always some new items to experience so it's always a delight.

My opinion, the Buffalo wings are REALLY good, I get them all the time.

Their build a burger options are somewhat limited but enough to get a satisfying meal.

Seafood options are great as well.

This place has it all.

P.S. for parents with picky kids, yes, the Mac and Cheese is Kraft.

Really nice staff, good food. I loved the firecracker cauliflower appetizer. Great place to eat before or after the haunted house in the fall. They also have a function room and an outdoor bar area.

We used this place for a bereavement luncheon. They did a fantastic job. Food and service were excellent. Thank you.

The food was great, we had an amazing server. Name was Ayah- super sweet and personable, lovely smile and attitude. She was very attentive, pleasant and made the experience. Will be coming back.

Just had a 18th birthday party for my daughter at the Ale House. John Brown is a fantastic server. He's just a great guy knows the menu and is just very friendly. Food was superb. I've had numerous functions at the Ale House the last 20 years and they always are top notch.
