What a treat! 3 adorable cabins along the Machias River. Beautiful setting. So quiet and peaceful. Very clean. We did not use the kitchenette except to make coffee, so can't comment on how well it's equipped. Note that cabins are small--would be a tight fit for four people. Breakfast options in Machias are limited if you don't bring your own. The owner recommended Tom's Mini Mart which was surprisingly good.

Highly recommended! The host was very kind and hospitable. We stayed for one night and wish we were booked for a longer visit. It is just far enough out of town to be very peaceful and quiet. In the early morning the hosts served us her own blueberry scones that were amazing along with an egg and cheese omelet. The locally roasted coffee was also so delicious that my husband had to stop on the way out of town to purchase a pound to take home. We also recommend it to any history buffs. My husband and I felt as if we stepped back into the late 1700s as we sat in the library and enjoyed reading over a family history album of the home. The hosts also really enjoys sharing any historical facts that you may want to ask about.

It was an excellent experience. The host was very very friendly and hospitable. And I love the scenery. And there's not many places you can stay in Maine where you can wake up drink a cup of coffee and watch seals playing in the ocean. The rooms are clean and very very nice. And it has very cute and comfortable cabins with an excellent view. I recommend it to anybody. It is a must-see must go to place to be.

Cozy, comfortable, quiet and super clean!
My husband and I stayed three nights in one of the cabins. I was surprised at how clean everything was, cleaner than any lodgings I've been to in the last few years!

The cabin has two queen-size beds with smooth, cool bed linens that are sooo comfortable!!! We both slept really well. The cabin includes a small kitchenette that was great for breakfast and even dinner on the nights we got in after the restaurants are closed.

There is a small porch and a beautiful view of the river. Although there are two other cabins and a guest room in the Gardner House, the is also great privacy. We slept with the sliding door and window open, enjoying the cool, fresh air and the gentle sounds of the beech trees rustling in the breeze. (We didn't worry about insects because the doors and windows have excellent screens.)

The cabin, though rustic, also has satellite TV, wireless and internet service.

Bonnie, our hostess, is a great source of local information and recommendations on things to do in the area.

Loved it! So quiet and restful - more like visiting family than a business. Bonnie is so welcoming and warm. The careworn 240-year-old homestead still has the massive fireplace and charm of yesteryear. Original artwork throughout the home is surprisingly good. And best of all, it is incredibly quiet - well off the road and isolated, its large riparian meadows are a quaint setting.

This place is amazing! It's the perfect quiet retreat. The cabins have been recently renovated with all modern admenities, and are privet from the other cabins due to landscaping. We were right on the water and were able to watch seals play. I'll definitely go back. Wonderful country retreat close to town!

A yearly tradition for our family. Beautiful sunset views over the Machias River, and in late summer you can expect to find wild blueberries around the property, yours for the taking. Great purple lupines to be seen for those who enjoy flowers, and the area has lots of deer, often seen on the property, most abundantly in the woods that border the main driveway in. Much historic charm is abound here, and the main farmhouse on the property was built in 1776! Great owners/hosts, accommodating and friendly, much enjoyed and cherished each and every time we stay here. A very calming place to get away.

Thank you, Bonnie! We loved, loved, loved our stay. My husband and I are so grateful you shared your beautiful, historical home with us. You were gracious and accommodating, and provided the MOST delicious breakfasts and coffee! Our suite in the Gardner House was private, exceptionally quiet, and clean. Our own porch overlooking the water, king-size bed and adjoining bath exceeded our expectations...we wouldn't have changed a thing! All the best to you and your family, Laurie & Thomas Reckendorf, New Harbor, Maine

Stayed in cabin #3, cozy, comfortable beds. Small kitchen, we ate in most meals. A queen bed and double bed. Amazing views of the Machias River, that ebs and flows with the ocean tides. Watch osprey, eagles, loon and seals right from your cottage. Super private!

Hidden gem. Delicious breakfast and pleasant host. Bonnie was fantastic about welcoming us late and being accommodating in the morning. The house is older but that is the charm and beauty. Saw an eagle in the morning along the river. Mosquitos are inevitable in the area but that didn't take away from a healing night of sleep. Highly recommend Micmac Farm.

Charming, little, very clean, very functional cabin. This was our 4th stay at the Micmac Farm Guesthouses. There are nice meadows and woods with a view of the tidal Machias river. We saw osprey, seals, and a bald eagle from our chairs on the lawn. The Dunns are exceptionally gracious and diligent hosts. The area offers terrific outdoor experiences. The only negative aspect of this serene place is having to leave at the end of one's stay. We will be back, for sure.

Historic Maine salt water farm on a tidal river, surrounded by fields. Within 2 miles of the Downeast Sunrise Trail. Comfortable room with cool breezes and a private deck, very pleasant host and a lovely breakfast to boot.

My adult son and I just spent a wonderful week in a Micmac guesthouse cabin. Our gracious hostess Bonnie presented us with a neat, clean, quaint and charming rustic cabin that had a beautiful view of the tidal salt water Machias river inlet. During our entire visit we experienced a very private, undisturbed week. MicMac farms was our home base and from there we made day trips to hike in Acadia National Park, as well as hiking trips to the most eastern point of the U.S.,West Quoddy Heat State park, Quoddy Head Loop trail, and Hamilton Cove. We also took delight in eating in several fantastic local seafood restaurants that are near by. If you are looking for a reasonably priced, rustic place to stay while visiting beautiful Washington county Maine, you owe it to yourself to check out MicMac Farms!

This place is seriously the best. We have family in the area and wanted to stay in our own place with our 10 month old daughter. Every hotel we looked at was wayyyy overpriced and nothing to rave about. I was feeling discouraged until I came across this place. It was super affordable and offered a peaceful place to stay with a view. A week before our trip I called to see if there was any way we could stay there. She set us up in the guest house for our first night and the cabin for the next two nights.

You drive down a lonnng driveway into the woods and find the guest house and cabins tucked away from the world. The guest house was quiet and we had our own private space to relax. We had a porch overlooking the Machias River and felt comfortable and welcomed right away.

We woke to the smell of coffee and ventured out into the kitchen where she poured us coffee and offered to make us breakfast. We had fresh blueberry muffins, an omelet, and fresh fruit! She even propped our daughter up in an antique high chair to help us enjoy our breakfast without her in our lap!

She had our cabin ready for us early to move into and when we got there we were surprised by the size! It was so large inside and had everything you could need: shower, fridge, cooktop, coffee maker, pots and pans/utensils, large closet, extra blankets/pillows, citronella candles on the back porch, deck of cards, TV and WIFI! It was so perfect. There was a pair of Adirondack chairs in our back lawn to sit and view the birch trees and river.

We didn’t hear a peep from the other two cabins and felt like we had our very own private space which was just what we wished for. If you’re going to spend money on lodging in this area I highly recommend you skip the hotels and opt for this beautiful place. They truly care about your comfort and privacy. It was peaceful to come back to after a long day of traveling around. We can’t recommend this place enough! We absolutely love it here and will be back!!!
