My family relocated to sandy. My children left their friends and the only elementary school they had ever attended. It was a daunting transition. The office staff, teachers and children at P.P. made my children feel accepted and safe. Their learning experience thus far has been exceptional. The two teachers I have become familiar with are committed to the children success. Nightly homework and reading sign off sheets for parents and weekly emails have kept me in the loop with what my child will be working on in the week ahead. The choir and the chess club are staffed by volunteers. They are incredible and talented people who have given my children opportunities to build self cofidence and learning experiences they never would have had if these volunteers weren't so kind to donate their time and talent. I am so blown away by thses teachers, volunteer staff and their commitment I would not hesitate to recommend this Canyon District school 100%.

My child has attended Peruvian Park for two years. The teachers are phenomenal, the office staff is responsible, courteous, and welcoming, and the parent volunteers are extremely involved and generous with their time. I am very happy with the education my child is receiving.

My son began here in fist grade (this year) in the SALTA program. Mrs. Merchant was his teacher, and we are so lucky to have had her. She went above and beyond to make sure the learning was maximized for every student. She came up with an individual chart for my son, which I appreciate her extra work to best help him stay on task. I am confident that the other teachers will be superb as well.

So, I went to this elementary school only for 6th grade. My friends and I had all been at Ridgecrest Elementary the previous years, but their Advanced Learning Program (ALP's) was ending so we all moved to Peruvian Park to continue our advanced learning, but with a different program called SALTA.
I had a teacher named Mrs. Alexander. From what I remember, I liked her as my teacher. I actually went back to Peruvian Park three years ago to visit with her and ask her a few questions about a story book we made during the school year and she was so helpful. I really did enjoy my time in her class (I know I'm weird, I actually used to enjoy school when I was younger).
One of my best memories were the 6th grade dances. I remember getting all excited for them and learning class dances for them. We also did a Thriller performance for the parents for Halloween, which was really fun! We performed a Charlie Brown play and a recorder performance. I, also, learned how to play the ukulele; Learning how to play the ukulele at a public school is pretty impressive. During the school year, we had a couple big project. We had to crochet/knit hats for newborn babies in the hospital or something like that. We could also keep a few hats for ourselves. I really enjoyed making the hats and I actually used the hats I made for a couple years as well. We made huge candy bar posters. Also, we made actual binded story books. I remember spending a lot of class time on it; we drew pictures and made the story line and everything. The teachers laminated the covers to create a nice book with clean binding and sharp covers. Near the end of the school year, we made a yearbook packet. I still have mine and look at it every once in a while. I'm still friends with some of the people I went to school with in 6th grade and actually I met my best friend, Vivian, in 6th grade. We're still best friends to this day.
One of the most memorable things about Peruvian Park and my time there were the friends I made and the events that happened. Out of all of my years in elementary school that was my most "drama filled year (on an elementary school level)". This might have been because I was in 6th grade and kids around that age are prone to be more into that stuff, but it was my most eventful year. The environment at Peruvian Park did seem a bit more "wild", but of course it was not crazy, it was just more eventful... The people who attend a school always set the type of environment, so it can change year-by-year.
The people at Peruvian Park were kind of different than the people I met in my other elementary schools. There was greater diversity. At my previous elementary school, the "white" population was more prominent; for example, I was usually the only Asian in that class. However, when I attended Peruvian Park, there were a couple Asians other than me and I was even shocked to see them the first day of school. Peruvian Park had a greater mix of races and ethnicities when I went there. I enjoyed the diversity because I did want to find more friends who were other races to expand my horizons instead of just Caucasian friends.
Overall, 6th grade was my best elementary school year. We did lots of fun projects in class, as I mentioned before. My education was advanced, even as an elementary student; I took advanced math ever since 4th grade and this accumulated over the years, so by the end of high school I took Advanced Placement (AP) Calculus AB/BC and AP Statistics. I, also, did orchestra in the mornings starting from 4th grade, continuing through 6th grade, and accumulating over the years, I became the concert master of my orchestra by 10th grade. The diversity in students was a lot greater than the other elementary schools I had been to. The friends I made at Peruvian Park stayed with me throughout the years and I made one of my most valuable friends there, my best friend. The memories I've made have stuck with me because they created an impact on my life. I have only Peruvian Park to thank and especially my teacher, Mrs. Alexander.

It is okay some of the teachers are rude and the kids

Our experience here has been mixed, it has been good for my daughter in the SALTA program but not so much for my son in Kindergarten. One BIG problem we have is that we live outside the school district and the school system wont allow our kids to use the bus. Some of the teachers are rude and the principal puts the teachers first and us second when addressing problems.

The director ALICE PECK is a big danger to families in the area and students. she has given legal advise to unauthorized individuals. One mother whom was in a very dangerous situation and had left an abusive relationship was placed in a very critical situation. When ALICE PECK illegally added her abuser to pick up and visit with a 6 year old child without the permission of the initial parent whom registered the child. This women not only gave herself the right to do this but also gave this dangerous individual illegal advise, regarding his rights as a parent. She did all this, because this individual showed a birth certificate. Which does not give any type of legal rights to a parent without a legal COURT ORDER which would state the rights of that individual concerning the child. This lady needs to be closely monitored as she could possibly be in the wrong field. Many parents have similar concerns regarding ALICE PECK. The mother, in this situation has not been able to return her child back to school due to fear of the father showing up again and taking the child. ALICE PECK not only did all this without the permission of the mother but called The mother and told her that she had no right to deprive this individual from seeing the child, and that she had taken it upon her self to add this person to pick up and visit with the child!!! Parents please make sure you know your rights to make sure a power hungry individual like this doesn't get their power rush with you.
