Lakewinds Motel The Beach Getaway

What an amazing find. Planned a rather last minute trip to Lexington and found the hotels and B & B's on the expensive to ridiculous price scale. A family member suggested we check out the Lakewinds, saying it had been recently renovated. Contacted them and quickly received a response that lead to a one night booking at a reasonable rate. We were greeted with smiles and given a tour of the property. The motel is an amazing piece of history and that it has been given a modern refresh is a welcome site. The room was comfortable and decorated with a very cool theme. All the rooms have a different theme which is very neat. Overall, this was a great place and just a short walk from the beach to which guests have access. Look forward to staying again! Thank you!!

So clean, cute and comfortable with an amazing host!! The bathroom is tiny but completely adequate. We loved having 4 pillows on each comfortable bed. Lovely private beach access just a good walk away.

We took a last minute trip to Lexington and found this little gem of a place to stay . The room was cute and the staff was wonderful. They were very knowledgeable about the area. It was quiet and peaceful. I wish we could have stayed longer . The beds were comfortable and the room was clean . We will be staying here on our next trip . Thank you 😊

This weekend was just what my husband daughter and I needed. The motel was very cute and we stayed in a nautical themed room. The bathroom toilet is too close to wall but I'm short so it was fine for my daughter and I. The bonfire pits and BBQ grill and tiki sitting area in the back is cute and quiet too. Loved swimming in private beach!!! We will be back again!!!

The owner is a very friendly person always made sure u had everything u needed. When she seen me outside, she always made conversation, Now room, it was down right gorgeous, I have never seen or been in a room like it anywhere, and I'm sure u never will. So please if r ever in the area do spend a night or 2, call ahead because she stays booked. Brenda Manuel

My husband & I came to Lakewinds for a little getaway. The room was really cute. Very clean & well kept. Lots of towels/facecloths, dresser to put your clothes away, little fridge with waters and creamers, a little coffee machine w-K-cups, microwave & Tv. If you’re tall, the bathroom may be hard to maneuver in but it was fine for us. You have a little sitting area outside your room. Beach was nice & close & very private. The weather unfortunately wasn’t on our side so we couldn’t enjoy but it looked lovely. Renea couldn’t do enough for us and surprised us our first night by having the fire pit already going for us with all the fixings for s’mores & roasting sticks. It was so sweet & made our night. We would definitely recommend for a couple night getaway. Thanks Renea!!!

Renea was very welcoming ! We had a great bonfire ( thanks to Renea for letting us use her paper and lighter fluid!) Very comfy room and bed.

What an absolutely wonderfully maintained piece of Michigan history. Renee has done a great job at maintaining the integrity of the motel. The rooms are very clean, the walk to beach is delightful, and her customer service is great. I especially loved when she told me the history of the motel before personally checking me in. I will definitely be staying here again!

My son and I came up for a few days and stayed and it was by far the best motel we have ever stayed at. I have been going to Lexington since I was a baby so we are really familiar with the area and this place will be the only place we stay at from now on. The staff is extremely nice and accommodating to our needs and also very helpful. The rooms are all themed differently making it a more comfortable stay. Perfect location perfect staff and perfect room. We will be seeing you guys soon and thank you again for the amazing experience.

This was our first time staying at Lakewinds Motel in Lexington and we were so pleased with the accommodations. Renee made us feel so welcome, the motel was clean and very comfortable. The beds were perfect, especially for someone with chronic back problems…. I would definitely recommend the cute beach getaway for anyone looking to spend sometime in the thumb area …..

Two of my friends and I were in need of a room for the night and were able to obtain one at the Lakewinds Motel. The owner couldn't have been more hospitable and accommodating. The room was amazing with a refrigerator stocked with water and there were plenty of coffee K cups. There were 3 beds which were extremely comfortable. In the morning, we took a nice short walk down to the private beach and enjoyed looking out on to the water. It was an extremely pleasant stay and would definitely book a room there again.

My fiancé & I wanted a little getaway from home without spending too much money. I must say, we were very happy with our stay! Renea greeted us with a hospitable smile & gave us a mini tour of our room, which was surprisingly clean! There is also a little coffee machine with K-cups so we could easily enjoy our morning cup of coffee! The beach was easily accessible, being less than a 1/2 mile walk from our room! We will most definitely be coming back here within the year. Very satisfied!!!

wow, what an experience! came down to visit Lake Huron last weekend and found this quaint little motel, very charming and cozy and within a short walk to the lake! the location is great as well, Dollar General is just down the street if you need anything, and the town of Lexington (cutest little town I have ever seen) is only a few miles away as well. Rooms were clean, cozy, it was nice to wake up and be able to make a cup of coffee in the Keurig and sit outside and visit with our neighbors who visited as well. Very affordable as well! Our hosts were very gracious and nice, and this is a place I would highly recommend to stay at if you are visiting Lake Huron or Lexington! it was very quiet and peaceful! we had a wonderful weekend and plan on visiting again next summer! The themed rooms are really cool and add to the ambience of a weekend getaway! Perfect vacation spot!

Our family really enjoyed our stay here. Super cute rooms - each with different fun theme. Beds were very comfortable, rooms were very clean, had micro, fridge, coffee maker and wi-fi. Host was super friendly and helpful. Private beach was only a short walk away. Wish we could have stayed longer. Strongly recommend.

Ok, be prepared for a little on the small side. However, this place was renovated from an iconic small town motel with tender loving care. Very very clean with excellent service. The grounds are well kept and there is an adorable backyard with firepits, swing, and cornhole game. Lovely private beach you can see from motel. Cute and thoughtful details and amenities everywhere you look. I would stay again.

Stayed there with my family and can't wait to book for next year. Kid friendly. Rooms were clean and had everything we needed. Picnic tables, grills, fire pits for guests. Short walk to private sandy beach. Great walking seeing all the cottages. They have a little store with all your needs! Loretta was the best!

This is my favorite spot. A short walk to the lake and your weekend is complete. I am looking forward to returning this summer.

Edit: The motel is under new management. Very pleasant over the phone, have not had the opportunity to meet the new owners. Prices were slightly higher than past visits.

Super Clean Motel - with access to a beautiful sandy private beach on Lake Huron within (2 block) walking distance. Perfect for a place to watch the morning sunrise without being in the crowded downtown area. It's only 3 miles south of the main hub of Lexington. Loretta (the owner along with her husband) is so nice and will greet you with a smile and coffee in the lobby/office in the morning.
