Really interesting tour given by the USPark Ranger. We also "went into town" to see the associated exhibits and destinations. Plan for about 4-5 hours for it all. This park might be better for older kids and of course adults.

Great opportunity to step back in history and walk in the footsteps of Elizabeth Cady Stanton. Standing where she stood and looking out at the neighborhood she called home, you cannot help but be in awe of the world she helped to change.

What an honor to see this place and since it was Convention Days there was an awesome Cady Stanton character at the house.

It was closed when we visited but it was worth it driving by to pay tribute to an important figure in the women's rights movement. You can walk around, read the historical markers to learn more about Stanton and her life-long advocacy for women's rights, and even take a peek from the porch to see what the rooms inside the house look like. There's a small parking spot close by and you can take a short walk to the nearby lake and enjoy scenic views.

Visiting was extremely worthwhile! We had a very enlightening discussion with two "in character" actors representing Elizabeth Cady Stanton and Lucretia Mott, and learned a lot about the developments that led up to the 1848 Seneca Falls convention. It gave me a real sense of the temper of the times, and what it must have been like to be part of those world-altering events.

Sadly, the house has closed for the winter, waiting only a few weeks to open on March 1st. The view of Van Cleff Lake from the front porch makes a good place to contemplate civil rights, which very well might be the foundations of all rights, including property rights. I doubt the lake existed when Elizabeth Stanton lived on the gorgeous prominence. The locks and the canal existed and so existed the post Civil War industrial might of this town so quiet on a Sunday. I hear the caws of crows and the cry of a bird in flight. To this add the trill of a bird I cannot see.

House was closed while we were there. But peacefully sat on the front porch soaking in the women's movement energy from almost a 100 years ago! Women's right to vote 1920. Wouldn't it be something to elect a woman to the presidency 100 years later in 2020. Vote!

The house wasn't open the day I went to visit because it was Indigenous Day. However, the yard, garden, and general area is beautiful. If you enjoy history this is the place for you to visit.
