First time in Rhode Island and decided to stop by here before an afternoon flight and so glad I did! Beautiful beach views, lighthouses, and the weather was perfect. Will certainly be back in the future.

A great state park! Various free parking is located throughout and typically close to the trail heads. There are very clean restrooms on site also. It seems to be a very popular place to fish as the rocks all around the shoreline were full of fishermen. Located at the southern top of the park is the Beavertail Historic Lighthouse with interesting historical placards and history tidbits about the surroundings.

This is a must stop when you are in Jamestown. The lighthouse is amazing, located between Narragansett and Newport. The parking gets pretty busy at sunset especially on the summer weekends. It was one of my favorite stops during my high school, college years and it still is to this day whenever I am back in Little Rhody

This place is perfect for picnic watching the sunset (right next to the lighthouse though it gets super super dark).

Free, ample parking, nice little loops with simple trails. Love the rock formation, super slated. A friend told me about this, soo appreciate it.

Caution: beware of ticks in the trails

A lovely state park, and free to park! Thank you, RI. Several lots to choose from, including 2 flanking the lighthouse and nature center. I went around 6pm and there were several groups set up with chairs for sunset, people picnicking, wading (the water is very powerful here. Be cautious). There were also many people painting and a group doing Tai Chi. I loved seeing all these activities, and yet there was still so much room for walking, observing and taking photos, with none of this being in the way, or detracting from the beauty of this park. I'm so glad it was recommended to me, rather than some of the other commonly known parks in the area.

Beavertail stands as one the truly unique Rhode Island state parks, boasting unrivaled vistas of sunset. Strolling by the waterfront or along the trails is incredibly soothing. It's also a great place to delve into Rhode Island's history.

Great location to watch the ocean and waves. Provides great overlook of Narragansett Bay and portions of Newport to the west. Great for short walks and grabbing a location for picnic. Care needs to be taken approaching the water as there’s large rocks that surround the park that can be slippery when wet. Lighthouse is beautiful as well.

Came back to visit for the first time in years and there was so much more to this park than I remembered. Gorgeous cliffside views along the rocky erosional coastline. However, this state park is just a day-trip location, as no overnight camping is allowed.

Beavertail is a one of a kind exceptional Rhode Island state park that offers unobstructed beautiful views of the sunrise and sunsets. Exploring the park, you will find hiking trails with hidden gems like little coves on the bay, wildlife, coastal plants, war history and a sensational lighthouse at the tip.

We stopped by here shortly while we were in Rhode island and this is a great park to visit. Walking around the lighthouse was nice, and there were fantastic views on both sides of the lighthouse.

Great view. Perfect place if you want to see some splashes. I didn't do the trail itself but only walked around the light house. The markers for trail seemed very clear, at least from the outside

This is my favorite place in whole Rhode island. It is so beautiful.. I love going there and just find a rock to sit and relax. It has great hiking trails too.. And it is the best place for photos. I had my engagement, maternity photoshoot here. Love this place...

Magical place. Great walks to little private inlets/coves. Neat old naval base remnants still around to be seen. Great sea glass to be found as well as very old nautical treasures that wash up in the seashore if you look hard enough and are lucky.

One of the main reasons I moved from CT to Rhode Island is this spectacular place. A true treasure.

Beavertail lighthouse is truly an iconic treasure of our country. The surrounding park is a spectacular place to walk, picnic and simply enjoy the constant flow of maritime activity. One of our favorite places in RI.

I visited Bevertail State Park around the sunset. Parking lot 2 was the best for watching sunset and visiting the lighthouse. Sunset from lot 2 provides good photo opportunities. Park was not busy at the beginning of November. One can easily spend a few hours walking around the park. I can spend easily 3 hours visiting the lighthouse museum and Aquarium and walking around the park. The best part about this park is that you can do all of the above by staying walking distance away from the car.

Beavertail is one of my favorite places! It's a little piece of land that sticks out into the ocean and as such, it was a dangerous area for sailors of the past. Which is why the wonderful old lighthouse was built there! It's great for watch the sunrise, or the sunset, or hiking around and looking at the ruins of the old WW2 fortifications. If you feel adventurous, carefully climb down the rocky cliffs to the waters edge where you'll see tidal pools filled with tiny creatures. During foggy weather, enjoy the monotonous tone of the huge fog horns that are mounted in front of the lighthouse -- just don't make the mistake of getting in front of the horns!!!

Love this place! Beautiful place for a picnic and to watch the sunset. Gorgeous setting for photos (took our engagement photos here years ago). It gets pretty crowded in the summer, especially on the weekends, and parking can get dicey. Marine Biology student volunteers are sometimes posted in the foghorn building and are always super nice and excited to share their knowledge of local marine life. Always a lot if fun to listen to, even my two year old enjoys it.

This a one of my favorite places along the coast. The sunsets are amazing. The walk around the light house and area is beautiful. Fishing is popular here on the rocks. Bathroom facilities are open year round also and free parking off to the side.
