McKinley Elementary School

I currently have 3 Children that attend this school. Originally we came from the LA school district and moved here a couple of years ago. At first I wasn't use to how open the school is...meaning you can wait in front of your children's classroom to drop off and pick up before and after school. The teachers are all very involved in equipping you as a parent to strengthen your kids skills in all things school. The rest is up to you of course. There is always things they do as far as involving the community. The fundraisers they do are great...Shakeys(25% of all Purchases go to the school on a set day)...Cafe Rio(same deal)...Barnes and Noble...(my kid did a small poetry reading there for Christmas last year! They even sold cupcakes there for whoever wanted to support. This is all not to mention the Carnival they have each year; which is located on the Historic Olive Street...famous on Halloween. and the field trips they have of the Orange Grove they are neighboring next to. The Owner and Keeper of this Historical grove is also the Kindergarten teacher and has been there since he was attending( Abraham Lincoln days??) . Crazy right? I am now in the PTA, I didn't really want to involve myself that far before but hey might as well. I won't be leaving the school anytime soon..I got one more kid left to start school there. Its Surreal...especially with how the city is booming in the last year..it gives a sense of how things use to be before fast food chains and digital phones. Its an actual Pleasantville...the part after they all started retaining color... =)

i went here from kindergarten to third grade. I loved this school but was so sad when i had to leave. I wish i could see or talk to the teachers i had like ms. edberg, ms. solberg, mr. smith, and mr teeter

I am doing my last year at McKinley and I love this school!

Great school. My son has enjoyed attending.
