Tavern on Main

Came here for dinner, have passed by here on occasions but never had a chance to come in. Decided today was the day. Took a look at the menu and had to try the country fried chicken sandwich with the cheesy tots which were delicious. Also go the root beer float. The menu looked really good and will be back to try something new.

Fantastic crab cakes (1/2 price app 4-6 and after 9PM), then had 2 cod tacos 🌮 🌮!

Stopped here one evening when Muse was full up. My friends and I were pleasntly surprised. The menu was small but solid. All of the food was outstanding with generous portions. We plan on coming back frequently.

Kathryn was very attentive and relatable during our lunch, and we had a long chat about marvel movies and disney! Tacos were $9 for two on tuesdays which is a great deal and were delicious. The cajun mac and cheese was good but lacked a little spice. It was a clean and quiet place too. 5 stars!

Friendly service from Patrick. Delicious food. I ordered my salad to have only romaine lettuce, but it was served with arugula. Other than that. All was fine.

Five stars across the board. The service and atmosphere of excellent and the food was phenomenal.

We were impressed by the food, the lobster ravioli with shrimp was excellent 👌 We were pleased that we were able to sit outside on the pleasant late Summer night. We look forward to going back! Wait staff was phenomenal!

We have been wanting to try the Tavern on Main for some time but it was usually full. We lucked out this time with two bar seats available for my wife and I.

Typical tavern atmosphere, relaxed and inviting. They were pretty jammed being 7pm on the eve of July fourth which is one of the busiest weeks down here. Service was a little slow but the bartender apologized in advance. Gave us time to look the menu over.

We decided to share the sausage platter and the salad with black bean hummus. Both were fantastic. We finished with the chocolate chip bread pudding which was equally good. I was frankly a little surprised at how good the food was.

When things wound down at the end of our visit the bartender had a few minutes to chat. Knowing that I no longer drink alcohol she offered up a virgin drink of my choice, on the house. I had a mojito which I have to say was excellent even without alcohol. When the check came we also saw she comped us our sodas for the long wait. I did not expect that.

I know we will be visiting again. It made the list of our top handful of places and we have been to many as we eat out often. Hopefully the other dishes are as good as the couple we tried.

As to the wait. Not the end of the world. We weren’t ignored and I suspect they were backed up in the kitchen likely short staffed. The food and out friendly bartender made up for it. I wish I caught her name, but she was a sweetheart.

The staff and chef go the extra mile on every order. Overall the best restaurant in South County. If you're looking for lively conversation at the bar, this is the place. With that comes the best fish tacos in Rhode Island, hands down.

We went here for dinner Saturday before the Improv show at the Contemporary Theater Co. and loved it. Vibe is super comfy, staff very nice & attentive and food was good! Had the sausage platter & crab cakes. Both were good. Sausage was delish!

Tavern on Main was a fantastic ending to our Rhode Island trip. We sat at the bar and the service was outstanding, the bartender poured a stiff drink and had a great personality. Had the scotch eggs (unique and amazing), smoked tomato soup (just needed that grilled cheese), the meat charcuterie (oh my lord!!!), short rib taco (holy hell)…everything we ordered was simply ridiculously amazing! Portions are plentiful and priced just right. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!! I’d give 10 stars if I could!

Amazing food and drink. Very friendly, knowledgeable and courteous staff. Really cozy atmosphere. A little pricey but you are paying good price for good quality. I recommend the honey mustard chicken breast, three cheese tater tots and spicy grilled shrimp.

I just had the pleasure of enjoying the house made sausage plate. The flavors of the three sausages were outstanding. I used very little mustard as I wanted the natural flavors to shine through. The staff was very friendly and attentive. I'll be back to delight in more dishes.

My friends and I visited Tavern on Main after having a little hiccup we had last time. We had a bad experience and the owners gave us a gift card for the inconveniences we experienced. We were really hesitant but we came for a second chance. This time was way better. The service was amazing, the food was amazing, the atmosphere was amazing. I am so glad we came back. This is one of my favorite places and this time was fantastic. The owners made a huge effort to come over and check on us. We weren't rushed and overall had a great experience. I would 6 stars if i could.

Great service, killer food! Well worth a little drive from the beach! Fish and chips was different and done perfectly. Great sauces with the scotch eggs and fish and chips.

Edit: went back a year later, and the food again is OUTSTANDING, wish I lived closer!!! You gotta try the three cheese tater tots, and the wings, and the fish and chips....great place , looking forward to another round!
