Tis was a very interesting stop. We had seen the sign several times and decided stop. First, it is “out of the way”. It is worth the time though. If you can get a guided tour, so it. There is so much to learn. Sequoyah was a very smart and determined man. It was good to see the Cherokee Nation in such a positive light

This was a great experience and a wonderful learning opportunity. The grounds are very well kept and left us with a feeling that was a very unique of awe for the Cherokee nation.

Amazing! The most informative tour guide!a must see for a history lesson in Oklahoma:). The kind lady in the gift shop was also very helpful. Try to find buckeye seeds while you are there!

The staff at the museum was so friendly and welcoming. Easy parking even if you have a trailer or motor home. It was a pleasant drive from the interstate to see the museum and cabin. Restrooms were clean. And they have a lovely little picnic area.

Loved this stop. Highly suggest anyone to visit. It’s full of great lessons in history, often a bit different from what we’re taught in school. It’s a shame that the historical significance of places like this is often recognized too late. Glad Sequoyah’s cabin has survived and hope it will continue to educate and inspire future generations.

I'm glad I visited. Very nicely laid out, clean and attractive grounds. I'm glad his cabin has been preserved inside another building all these years.

Wonderful experience for those who enjoy history. Fascinating authentic display makes the history come alive. If you're anywhere near Sallisaw and have the time you should stop and see this self guided display I'll be going back!

Really nice spot, free to visit. Has the original cabin as well as several other buildings on the property. We visited because we were in Fort Smith and wanted to go into Oklahoma. Very educational and beautiful grounds well groomed. Has a nice little gift shop with a lot of interesting items related to the Cherokee Nation.

This museum has beautiful grounds. The displays are well done and the cabin is protected by a larger structure. It is worth the trip out to Akins to see. I will be returning to this place and riding the two lane roads into Arkansas. Come check out Cherokee history you won’t regret it.

Learn about the creator of the Cherokee alphabet. Read about how native land was repeatedly taken by the US government.
