Abbeville First Baptist Church

My Family's first visit to this church was in 2014. Since then we have attended many times. It's a good church. It has very nice people there. Recently a new Pastor took over and it is very nice. I like the direction the church is going and in today's world its important to me that my boys have good examples to follow. Today's sermon was on being meek. I say this was the best sermon on meekness I have heard.
How nice to go to church and get the strength to go forward.

My wife and I are going on about 10 yrs being at Abbeville First Baptist and we are still as much in love with the church, people and spirit as we were the first Sunday we walked in the door. Contrary to what "Brother Smith" who chose to use a pseudonym rather than have the courage to use his real name, and Adam Hill , said about AFB, they are not about how much money you have. We are a school teacher and a blue collar employee at Eaton. We have never been shunned or snubbed based on our economic level. Thats just a lie. As far as not wanting to put the effort to contribute to the food bank, thats a false statement. I know it to be a fact because my Sunday School class took the opportunity to be the churches contributor to the food pantry, we saw it as an opportunity for our class to give to the community, and we made sure the church knew that we wanted to take that responsibility and opportunity.
As for it taking so long to find a senior pastor, We were working on Gods timing, not our own timing, it was a learning and growing experience. waiting and following God's timing and leadership yielded an amazing dividend in Pastor David Green, Robin, Beu and Bridget. Pastor David is leading us by the spirit of God leading him and our staff. He is the man God had chosen for AFB and we are growing and thriving as a body and an instrument of Christ.

I love this church. It feels like family. The people are always there for you! They work on projects around town like building ramps and fixing roofs. And they minister to other states and countries.

The First Baptist Church is one of the largest churches in Abbeville but also a very friendly atmosphere. They have a very active youth program and they also put on a great Bible School every summer.

The Fist Baptist Church is one of the largest churches in Abbeville witch is true. The people can be very friendly at first until the find out that you do NOT as money. Then the ALL look down there noses at you. The , Pastor is all about money. Seen him, ask about peoples parents income and he passes judgment about the people on about money. Sunday school teachers do talk to the pastor before teaching the classes. They change the Words in the Bible to sute there needs at the time. I have see a whole Sunday school class turn against someone when they point out that the bible says and not what they want it to say. I thought Sunday school was about learning and asking questions not condemning a person for reading the words right in the bible. Stay a way from this church is you a blue collar worker your not wanted. They do put on a good show at first until you start seeing there true colors. Church does little to NOTTING for the local community they more worried about out of the US then there right outside there door. How SAD a big church like that and they do not care. It is just a matter of time before the church will loss everything like so many has before or hopefully they can change something's around. finding a better pastor would be a good start. they say he is one of the best out there. I hope not because if he is we are all in trouble.
