The Illinois portion of ‘The Mother Road’ (Route 66) reaches from Chicago to the North and St Louis to the South. Roughly halfway between the two lies the small town of Atlanta. Illinois. A town whose heyday came because of the construction (and presence) of that highway. This small park, as well as much of the town today is a tribute to those glory days.

I’ve seen this place go from kinda “meh” to stunning over the years! My grandpa’s ticket shed from my grandparents house sits in the middle of this park. The town “Flower Buds” group keeps the landscaping here beautiful & pristine! A great little piece of history along Route 66 worth walking through. Just stop & admire all the space has to offer! 🪻🌸🌺🌼👩🏼‍🌾💚

All along the block. Super clean. Very interesting. Brochures available. Great photo ops! Perfect along Route 66.

Pretty nice small memorial park, dedicated to the Historic Route 66. It is located at the central road of the Atlanta town and it is one of the points of interest of the Historic Route 66 road. Many different route 66 signs, a nice spot for memorial photos.
