Effie Cafe

1.14.2023 My first visit to the Effie Cafe. After reading reviews, I took my dad for brunch. He lives 20 miles from here. Our server, Jessica, who is the owner as of this past year, recommended the biscuits and gravy, as well as the French Toast. I had to try them both with the plan of taking some home. Dad had over easy eggs, hash browns, bacon and toast. While we waited we noticed the fresh paint and new fresh look. Jessica stopped by to answer our questions. She is very pleasant and a nice chat. It was clear the new owner was giving the place a new look which she did an excellent job. Our wait was short and the food arrived hot. The biscuits and gravy were excellent. The French toast was the best I've had. Dad really enjoyed his choice too. The price for all of this was under $22. I paid $30 and left the rest as a tip. She earned it.

Fabulous food. I had the super California burger. And I doubled everything. For $15 I got the biggest juiciest baconiest burger I've ever had in my life. And I eat every last bite. So so good.

FOOD WAS FANTASTIC! The burger was perfect. Fries were also great. I have been here several times and this will keep me coming back. Friendly staff and great service.

Quaint cafe with tasty burgers& a great BLT. Small but worth 4 kinds of pie on this day. Good prices and small town charm. They were open more hours than listed on google

I love this place. Having grown up in the area I have a soft spot for it. Service is always a bit slow, but it's worth it. Always great food and friendly service. There's a reason it's been open so long in a town of 80. Stop by if you're passing through. You won't regret it. Have a Jake special.

Breakfast is awesome and the pancakes are huge and it has cheap prices. The only thing that isn't fantastic would be there coffee is really weak and just not very good.

If you want down home cooking at its finest, this is the place for you. It's small and cozy, and the stuffed hashbrowns are awesome. They also have wonderful homemade pie.

On our way out to Ely, I convinced my girlfriend and my brother to hold off on lunch for the Effie Cafe. I had eaten here last summer and really enjoyed it, and this visit was even better! We were ravenous, and the food was amazing. The prices are unbeatable. The breakfast is cooked up with love. Also, try the small pancake for a side, you won't be disappointed. Everything I've tried is delicious and whenever I'm in the area, I will continue to make a point to stop.

I've been coming here for 6 years now! Best fish fry I've ever had in my life! Great breakfast too. They're usually busy so it can take awhile to get your food but it's always worth the wait.

Great food and kept our glasses full! The roast beef dinner was delicious and the stuffed hash browns were done perfectly. We had to be patient because it was busy and only 1 cook and 1 server were working. It was well worth the wait.

Simply amazing, like a home away from home. You remember when you used to visit grandma and she'd fatten you up? Well this is basically the restaraunt equivalent experience. The small pancake was spilling off of the plate, the Big Effie was looking more like 5 eggs than 3, and my only complaint was I didn't have room for pie. We had 3 people gorge themselves for under 30 dollars. All of this talk about portion size, don't think for a second that the food wasn't every bit as impressive.

I had the meatloaf sandwich, real mashed tatoes,and not too salty beef gravy. Also a dinner salad. My husband had steak,hashbrowns,eggs,toast. All was so good,we are heading back today,! Homemade food . Humming birds at the windows, pleasant ,friendly staff,patrons. Its our new place to go ,better than anything around lake vermilion, worth the trip .

Best home cooking in the area! If you are in a hurry this not the place for you. The food does take a bit to get to your table but once it's there you are in for a treat. The lumberjack omelet and pancake breakfast are both epic!

What a great little gem of a place. 5 of us had a great breakfast. Highly recommend it. The boys from Illinois.
