This was an experience not to be missed. Joe is so knowledgeable about the plants, animals and Apache history, as well as the general history of the area. The landscape is stunning, places you might never get to see. His horses are well looked after and a pleasure to ride. If you are anywhere near Silver City, New Mexico you should plan a trip with Joe.

Had a great ride with Apache Joe in the Gila National Park. He is very informative about the history of the American Indian and ingenious plants and animal species. I will ride with him again the next time I'm in Silver City New Mexico.

My wife and I really enjoyed our horseback riding adventure with Joe and Bailey from Wolfhorse Outfitters. Joe led us from his place into a pretty juniper forest filled with blooming yucca trees. We planned the trip together (via email) to be in the late afternoon to be out of the summer heat. Our trip meandered on and off trails, across streams, up to view petroglyphs, and made our way to a ridge surrounded by a colorful sunset. We learned a little about riding and also some about the local plants and their uses along the way. After pictures and sharing some snacks, we then rode home mostly off trail under a half moon silhouetted by yucca's and stars. A really nice afternoon/evening out riding...!

Joe is an excellent and caring person and guide. His horses are well taken care of and he makes an effort to tread lightly on the landscape while riding. Joe was sensitive and capable with our group’s varying comfort level on horseback. I was able to experience the freedom of riding without the nose to tail, passive rider that’s typical of guided rides, while my friend was able to feel that her horse would stay with Joe and behave kindly under her. Great horses, beautiful landscape, and a guide who is passionate about sharing the history of his people and the many uses of the vegetation around us. This was a great value being a bit over 3 hours, and it was a highlight of our trip.

Joe the owner is a great guy. He was so accommodating. He put us in the schedule the day we called. I felt bad we showed up a tad late because we were in Arizona and forgot about the one hour time change as we crossed into new Mexico. Nonetheless his calm demeanour was very welcoming. This man clearly has spent his life around horses. He is an accomplished rider and I wish I had more time to listen and learn from him. He has a beautiful little spot just down the street from some national forest land. He got my daughters and I situated on our horses and then one of his Ranch hands guided us on our ride. The ride was through the trails and hills around his place. The horses were so well trained. Obedient to the slightest command. A pleasure to ride. Joe has done an amazing job with his animals. Just watching him handle and talk to them was neat. He also was happy to share some of the Apache history of the silver city area to round out the entire experience. I would highly recommend a tour with him. My daughters say it was the highlight of our entire vacation. Well worth it his reasonable rates.

Joe and his crew were provided a great horse riding experience and were very friendly. My wife and I were visiting from Switzerland and just passing through. His website has been having issues and we ended up having to call him to make our reservations. We suggest giving him a call for bookings or send an email. Highly recommend and next time we are in town we will visit WolfHorse Outfitters again!

Wonderfully trained and responsive horses, obviously treated with kindness. Joe is a great guide to the beauty and archeology of the Gila, complete with local lore and native american history.

We had a great ride today with Joe and learned a lot about the plants and trees in the area and how they were/are used by the Apache. If you like to learn and ride horses, he’s your guy. Thanks, Joe!

We took a full moon ride guided by Joseph. It was about 3.5 hrs of riding, starting at the Dragonfly Trailhead. The horses were very sweet and well taken care of. Joseph taught us about the geography and wildlife of the area. Riding and seeing the landscape at night was a relaxing and memorable experience. Thank you Wolf Horse Outfitters!!

Joe Saenz of Wolfhorse Outfitters provides clients with an immersive experience in the Gila. His horses are amazing, capable of serene trail riding and more adventurous excursions, too. Joe know the wildlife and history of this place like few others. He draws from his Apache heritage to bring history to life. We saw rock art and ancient stone shelters from millenia ago. Highly recommend the experience for anyone looking for an off-the-beaten-path adventure.

I called last-minute, and Joe was very accommodating with getting me in. I didn't ride with Joe for my trail ride but one of his hands, Corbyn, who was great! He was a pleasure to ride with, and he was knowledgeable about the area and showed me petroglyphs during our ride. Great experience! I will be back.

Joe is great. Don't hesitate for a second to go ride with him. He's super laid back and easy going. He's a pleasure to chat with and to learn from about local Apache history and traditions. He also showed me some petroglyphs. His place is easy to find. You'll be happy you went.

Joe was amazing...knowledgable, humorous, competent, peaceful. He shared insights into how his people used different plants and how they lived, and where and how other indigenous people lived in the area, as we rode. We sometimes rode on defined trails and many times were encouraged to ride on our own, but keep within eyesight. The ride was great and never boring. We rode up and down hills, in and out of gullies and creek beds, and in tight places. The horses were well mannered and responsive. We saw plenty of plants, wildlife, including a herd of elk, and petroglyphs. Would do it again in a heartbeat!!!
