Excellent hike, took our dog - we were staying in woodland park and the weather was threatening rain/sprinkles so figured we'd stay close & did not disappoint! There are some small trails that go off path so I recommend googling what the trail path looks like on alltrails etc beforehand so you feel confident to not take one of the accessory paths. Although it's closer to 5.5 mi total from trailhead to loop, the terrain is fairly easy.

Nice loop hike. Watch for trail markers to that you don't end up on the wrong path. We hiked to the right of the loop first so that we ended with more downhill. Parking lot is decent sized, but has a lot of pot holes. 5.5 mile round trip hike. We saw several deer, an Abert's squirrel and lots of birds. It's a lot of up and down climbing with loose gravel, so probably not a good hike for small kids. Took us about 3 hours at a normal hiking pace, but stopped to take photos a lot. We hike for the experience, not to finish as fast as we can (: There were several runners and a few bikes on a Sunday morning. Good workout with about 1,110 feet of climbing.

Good trail with plenty of parking. It’s a fairly easy hike that would be good for kids or pets.
There’s a great view of Pikes Peak from the parking lot actually. The initial climb isn’t very scenic since you’re hiking behind the city’s utilities/road department equipment yard and some outlying homes, but once you get up into the trees it’s very beautiful. There’s a stream and several panoramic views.

Beautiful trail with some great views and some really neat hidden places. We went clockwise and had some great climbs (made more challenging by my husband who insists everything is a ruck march). Lots of shaded areas to escape the summer sun!

Breathtaking views!!!!! Come ready to hike there was a feet to a feet and a half of snow in places at the time, took us close to five hours with a eight and ten year old. We would recommend going to left once you hit the trail head sign and then looping that way. Download alltrails app, helped us at the time. Not many people out here, very very peacful take your time and pace yourself if you need it. Just beautiful!!! Cheers

Beautiful and not too hard or long, good for any beginner in shape. The elevations can get a little challenging at times but plenty of shade to rest. In mid March, the path kept varying between snow/slippery ice to dry. We crossed the river while it was frozen.

Awesome trail with plenty of great views. Well marked and easy to navigate, and there were only a few people out today, so it was a nice peaceful hike. Great hike!!

This is a fairly easy hike right outside of Woodland Park. Most of the hike is a loop through pine forest and aspen meadows. If you walk the loop counter clockwise the uphill portion is steady but never very steep. Clockwise the walk has a few steep uphills but also some flat and downhill sections where you can catch your breath. The views at the top were fantastic except for the power lines.

Well marked trail, great views from the back side if you can ignore that the cut out for power lines is the reason the views are so great. Saw a few people with dogs off leash, which doesn't bother me, but may be problematic for others. We took a little over 3 hours, did the loop counter clockwise, had lunch on a rock at the top. Was a great day!

Great trail. Top 5 in the COS area. Not steep although you will get above 9k feet. Counter clockwise is the way to go when you see the 3.5 mile sign.

First time back in Colorado in over a decade and this time I got to explore the mountains more. If you love forest trails this one was pretty fun and has a great overlook of the mountains especially if you can the "hidden" spots. Absolutely loved this trail! Can't wait to get back and find more trails.

This is a great place to hike. It has beautiful views. You have a good mix of steep and mild slopes. There are shady areas and sunny areas. It's very peaceful. There is still some color left (as of Oct 10), but most of the aspens have dropped their leaves, leaving a trail of gold on the forest floor. Lots of dogs on leashes. MOST but not all dog owners are responsible about cleaning up after their pups. Some still wrap their poop bags on the ground though, which is senseless. If you are not going to clean it up and take with you, it would be better to just cover it with dirt and let it degrade naturally then to wrap it up in plastic to sit for years.

Multiple trails that will take you to the same location. Once past the private home we took a right at the fork. This option is a bit steeper than taking the left trail as you come up a ridge before going back down and intersecting with the main trail. The scenery is awesome as you come towards the top of the ridge. Great views to the south and west. Great trail for kids and dogs.

A great easy trail, that is very close to Woodland Park. Some elevation gain, but overall an enjoyable walk through the woods. Parking is limited but there is a designated lot.

Went there in March. It was an easy walk, with lots of snow still around. This is a great place just to walk and enjoy nature, easy fir the whole family. Access is very easy, with an small parking space close to the paved road.

It’s muddy in places and icy in many spots as the snow is melting and refreezing at night. Wear spikes on your hiking boots and you will be fine.

I’m visiting Colorado Springs from Philadelphia, and I wanted to hike a good trail higher up in elevation, with the promise of some wildlife. I discovered Rampart Reservoir was closed for the season, and I stumbled across this trail on my way back down the mountain.
It seems well-maintained, with enough other hikers that the snow is sufficiently packed down. I’m not accustomed to the elevation, but I did fine with the rises in the trail.
Identified at least a half dozen winter birds, and found a number of prints from various animals. The friendly puppy dogs were a bonus in my book.

Good lollipop loop just on the edge of Woodland Park. It’s lightly used mainly with hikers. It has 1,009 of vertical at 5.27 miles.

Really great hike. The loop has around 1k feet in elevation gain so it's a good workout with nice views.

We enjoyed this trail a lot. We went in and went on the loop counter-clockwise. I feel like we made a good choice. Lots of loose gravel, which is annoying. But it was a good trail. We would recommend.
