The Wind River Heritage Center is a must-see when you're in Riverton, Wyoming! It offers a fantastic exhibition showcasing the significant animals that have inhabited the area over the past century and continue to do so today. You'll find captivating information about the city's history and traditions, as well as insights into the life of Jake, the last mountain man. The center also features a Waxcaninet exhibit, depicting stories and individuals from pioneer times. The collection includes paintings, old books, and intriguing facts that enrich the experience. My visit there was thoroughly enjoyable! Also the lady working there was an awesome help and showed us around the animal expositions. Very sweet and nice atmosphere!

This is an awesome museum for area wildlife, it's up close and personal. Super extensive collection of wild animals from Wyoming. Bonus! Place also has a wax museum of early American settlers, a must see. $5 admission but so worth it , I got a personal guided tour of the entire museum. Staff are wonderful. GO!

It doesn't seem like much from the outside, but it was amazing! Jacob did a good job of telling us about the animals and I was surprised to learn quite a few things. Then Harold gave us a tour of the rest. He was awesome! We asked tons of questions and he always had insightful answers. He knew what he was talking about and gave us lots to think about. We are excited to go back in the future. I can't stress enough to get the guided tour and soak in everything Harold tells you. I wish I could remember it all.

Hi Iva. So wonderful you and your family are preserving the Center. What a wonderful and historical exhibit. My in-laws lived in Riverton about 20 or so years ago and I visited the center and met Jake. Just caught his doc on Prime and took me back to those days visiting there. Be well. Paul

The Wind River Heritage center is a wonderful historical place to bring the family and see and learn about some of the history around our area.
They have many animal mounts and traps to see from a true mountain man, Mr. Jake correll.
They have a wax figure museum and the staff tells a wonder tale of past times that almost takes you back and puts you right in the middle of it all.
Two thumbs up for the Wind River Heritage Center. A must stop place on your visit to Wonderful Wyoming.

Family owned, personal guidance, clear and easy to read info and excellent displays about settling and developing the American west in the pioneering days. And they have displays of about every wild anamal to ever live and roam the same American west!

You cannot get a better glimpse of the lifestyle and knowledge of the trapping trade than through this museum and the old fashioned hobbies and passions of the volunteers who run it.

We really enjoyed seeing the museum. We had a private tour for $10 for the family. We spent the night there in our motorhome as part of Harvest Hosts. We had a very level spot for the night. Great hosts.
