Mexico Viejo Mexican Grill

The atmosphere of this place is awesome. There was a lot of money spent to make this place look extra cool inside. Staff was very friendly and professional. Menu is large and has many things to choose from. We ordered our food and it did not take long to get our food. Food tasted great. If I am in the area, I would love to eat dinner here again.

12/23/23 1st time here. Just walking thru the door, invites the eyes to such artistic imagination. The mouthwatering aromas throughout is intoxicating as well. They immediately get you seated and chips and salsa arrive soon after. Now, the menu is abundant with a HUGE variety of items, I MUST 😊try. I had the enchiladas Supreme! Was so delicious. BEFORE i finished my soda, another arrived. My Family and my Friends and myself will be frequenting this. Thank yall for an amazing experience 👍

The food was great, and the service was excellent! I especially loved the cucumber jalapeño margarita.

Definitely a must stop if you driving by the are. Food is authentic and delicious the carne asada is on point the drinks are mild and authentic also

Wow, what a gem! The menu is expansive, and includes many dishes I have never seen anywhere else. All of the dishes I have tried were delicious. The camarones aquachiles was my favorite. Full of flavor with just the right amount of heat.

We discovered this hidden gem while passing through the area. Not only is it very nicely decorated inside & out but this was one of the best Mexican meals that I have ever had! I highly recommend it! I had a spinach, black bean & chicken burrito that was fantastic.

Nice Mexican Restaurant in South Boston Virginia! I can strongly recommend freshly made Guacamole 🥑! They were fantastic! Also if you like spicy food 🌶 🌶 🌶, i can recommend no 49. MAHI MAHI TACOS

marinated in special seasoning,
with romaine lettuce, red onion,
fresh jalapeños, mango salsa and
cotija cheese with rice 14.99$ ! Fantastic!

I've been to dozens of Mexican restaurants all over the country and have found that for the most part you can expect more or less the same experience. Of course many people like knowing what to expect, as evidenced by the success of chains like Applebee's, but I have become a little burnt out by the lack of variety.

That said, Mexican Viejo was a nice change of pace from the typical Mexican restaurant. They took more of a neo Aztec? approach to decor, which looks great. They have a nice bar with some reasonably priced mixed drinks. However, perhaps most importantly, the food is good. They don't completely deviate from the standard burritos with rice and refried beans, but there are some unique options as well.

Overall, I went in expecting another typical Mexican place, but came out pleasantly surprised.

Manager stopped by our table to collect dirty dishes, I like how he chipped in with the work. No dusty light fixtures when you look up too. We will definitely be back! Also, people were spaced out, nice to see.

Nice place to eat. Great location, nice decor, and atmosphere. The food was delicious and reasonably priced. I had the quesadilla and tres leche cake. Sooo good. I definitely recommend this Mexican restaurant if you are visiting or passing through South Boston.

Great place to get your favorite Mexican dishes! I was surprised about how good their prices were!

First time here on a business trip and as soon as I walked in the place was clean, open and warming. We were immediately recognized and seated for 10 people. Started off with chips and soda and ordered a pastor burrito. It was delicious and the service was wonderful. Drinks were always kept full without asking and chips came like no tomorrow. I highly recommend to give this place a chance if you haven’t tried it. You will not be disappointed. Great times…

Presentation of the food was superb. The seasoning was a tad salty for my taste but still good.

Food and atmosphere were awesome. But my favorite thing was that every single table had a dedicated outlet right there. With the 2 regular plugs and a USB and USBC port. That's a lot of work to put one in for each table, I appreciate it and thought it was really cool.

Surprisingly great restaurant in the small town of South Boston. Great staff, very friendly! The guacamole dip is freshly made and a very large portion. The shrimp tacos were fantastic! The bartender was awesome!

We were in from out West where we have wonderful Mexican food. We haven't found good Mexican food in this area in the past. Mexico Viejo was amazing!

The decor was really cool. Very unique. And all of the booths have a power outlet including USB!

The service was fast and friendly. The drink menu and the food menu have so many options!

We each got a margarita, which were really good. The chips amd salsa were good. They also provide a white sauce which is very specific to this area (we've looked it up)... it's just not something we enjoy personally...but if you like it, they have it.

I got the vegetarian delight (a combo of your choosing from a list of options) and my date got the carnitas. Everything was perfect.

If we lived nearby, this would be a go-to restaurant for us!
