Rutherford Animal Shelter

Rutherford County Animal Shelter is a wonderful place to find a new friend. All of the animals have been spayed, neutered, microchipped, vaccinated and fully vetted. There are some amazing volunteers that run a Facebook page just to help get the animals that find themselves at the shelter some attention and hopefully a home.

I've adopted three cats from here so far. The adoption process is easy and the adoption fees are very reasonable especially considering that they've already been fully vetted.

This shelter is doing the very best they can to help all of the animals that come to them with what they have. Please stop by and consider adopting a new friend that desperately needs a home. <3

I recently adopted a young female - we now call her Winter. My experience with this facility was stellar!! The office staff and kennel staff were a pleasure to deal with. Everything that was done for her adoption was fantastic. She was spayed, all shots up to date, rabies shot, heartworm medication. This Shelter is definitely worth the visit and adoption!

My dog was adopted at this shelter and we moved to Colorado and I can't get them to give me copies of her shot records for nothing. You would think they want the animals cared for they adopt out and no groomer will even cut her nails or anything without those records...please follow through

Getting rabies vaccines is quick and easy. On rabies clinic days, you drive up and someone meets you at your vehicle. That person writes down the pets info and the owners contact info. Someone else picks up the animal and takes it for the vaccine, brings it back and your done! Talk about drive through service! Great job guys. Keep it up!

I am amazed at the wonderful job they do for strays or unwanted dogs. These folks are so under staffed, yet every dog has clean living conditions, fresh, clean water and generous amount of food. All of this is done by four people and a volunteer here and there. I suggest to the people writing bad reviews to go to the shelter and volunteer your time to improve conditions for the animals. Don't down grade these hard working people, go help them. If you are not part of the solution then you ARE the problem.
Foster a dog or cat, bring these animals into your home. If you think these animals deserve better then off them a better place to live.

I was missing my dogs for five days. Searched everywhere for them with no luck. Come to find out this shelter has them both. A gentleman named Terry came to the fence when we arrived after seeing one of their pictures online. He was extremely respectful and kind to us and our dogs. I could tell he cared greatly for each animal and took pride in his job. My dogs were well fed and respected during their unexpected stay. I couldn't be happier with the results and I couldn't be more overjoyed to have my dogs back.

Adopted 2 cats from here. Very clean kennels and friendly staff. Cats also come with full age appropriate vaccines, dewormer, microchip and spayed/neutered 👍

I recently adopted a dog from the pound... And the people were so nice helping me find the right dog to get along with the dog I have now. We adopted a 9 month old lab. He's been a awesome dog... Everyone loves him

I have been to this shelter . The staff is caring and wonderful to the animals there . A good team . And it is clean .

I am thankful we have this animal shelter. Over the last 20 years I have adopted 3 dogs from here and when the kids were young we would go visit the animals that were held here. We always felt welcomed to come and look and talk to and pet dogs. Adopting didnt cost n arm and a leg like it does at other places.
