Beautiful hike. We parked at Wash pond and hiked all the way to the caves, the tower around the bluffs and back and it took about 1.8, MI. It's very Rocky and there are some ups and downs so I would consider this a moderate hike. Make sure you wear good shoes. It's very clean and well maintained. This would be good for pretty much any age. And it's dog friendly.

Such a fun hike! I would consider it an intermediate trail. It was not exactly easy. The trail had lots of things to trip on (mostly rocks and roots). Hills and tons of stairs. If there is any rain or mud, I'm sure the trails are closed. If they do not close them, then I would not hike these trails. Super clean area. I will definitely be back! I parked at the cave and walked up to the old pool/wash pond and back...it was the perfect loop! Do not skip Bluff Trail! 😎 I have pointed out in the pictures attached the Bluff Trail that I thought was the prettiest of all the trails. Enjoy!!

Mother Neff is a beautiful state park. We especially enjoyed the wash pond. It was so clear and the ecosystem beneath the water was clearly visible. We were also impressed with the education displays at the park headquarters. Thank you to all the hands and hard work that contribute to our awesome state parks!

We love going to the different state parks here in Texas and were blown away out how wonderful this little park is. The staff called ahead to check us in and make sure we knew how to get in and where to go since we were arriving after dark. The campsites are meticulously maintained and so roomy. We had no trouble at all backing our camper in. The trails are gorgeous and so easily accessible. It is truly a hidden gem and we will definitely be back!

What a gorgeous state park in the late spring! All the wildflowers were blooming and we saw deer, caterpillars, a local cat and a skunk. We tent camped next to an RV and there was a nice gravel area, metal table and fire pit at each spot. Multiple short hikes & two playgrounds (one natural and one for slightly older kids based on swing & slide size). Clean restrooms and a quiet, serene setting.

Super park with nice shaded trails. Tower, pool, and a cave. Campsites, showerhouse and headquarters look brand new.

This was a nice park. Great trails and great history. It's always fun walking around somewhere as important as the first State Park in Texas.
I definitely recommend spending some time to explore the trails here.

Wonderful spot, great kid sized trails, beautiful Prairie/wildflower trail in Spring. Don't miss it;) There are two little areas for kids to play also. Dogs on leash.

First of all I'm a huge fan of all Texas State Parks! Mother Neff is definitely one of the quaintest. The restrooms and showers are very clean and nice. The RV spots looked lovely as well. The hiking is limited, but I knew this before I went. I was actually able to get 5 miles out of it combining all the trails and with a little bit of backtracking at times. The entrance to the park is gorgeous as well.

This is truly an amazing place to visit. The campsites are better than Disney's Fort Widerness and cleaner bathrooms than Buc-ee's

Very nice small park. Mother Neff State Park is the first State Park in Texas.

The staff at the entrance were very knowledgeable, polite, helpful, and professional. The welcome building is nicely furnished with free maps and guides along with other items that are available for purchase.

Trails are very well maintained and clear. A great place to bring children for a day trip. There are a few spots that are very rocky and maybe challenging for the young ones.

Wildlife is there but if there are many people I doubt you will see any. Although I did see a Texas Coral Snake along the Bluff trail.

There is camping with RV parking.

Overall, a nice place for a day trip.

Well maintained trails that are very family friendly! The visitor center has several excellent exhibits and had crafts for the kids. The park ranger also showed them different pelts from animals found in the park. Rest rooms extremely clean.

This definitely a very nice state park with plenty of shades while walking the trails! They offer some nice sites to see. The bathrooms are definitely nice with windows and a fan to help keep it somewhat cool in the heat. I recommend this state park and will be back.

I love this park! So much fun stuff to explore, wildlife always present, cute and fun stickers/memorabilia, easy to use map, and the workers have always been nice!
You can camp and utilize their playgrounds in between trails, and their bathrooms retain a 4/5 (or higher!) stars for cleanliness every time I've come through.

Off the path feel! Full of history and rock formation designs everywhere. Stumbled across a rat snake clinging to the ceiling wall...lol probable hiding spot from the predator birds we saw on the trail, as well. Renovations from flood damage and new additions can't come soon enough. We are ready to return.

One of the best state park park office which is more like a NP visitor center. There was a seasonal craft area for kids and nice gift shop area. Junior Ranger backpacks are also available. Trails are also well maintained and marked.

Excellent weekend park with artifical thunder (explanation below). A deep but not very wide park with a variety of interesting trails. Probably the cleanest and most well kept state park I have been to in Texas. The pad sites are beautiful and well built. The park bathrooms and showers are also immaculate compared to the norm. Plenty of deer, roadrunners and other wildlife to spot. The trails have bluffs, a rock tower and a cave to wander around and explore. Would definitely come back.

An interesting aspect of our stay was the periodic rumbling and booming we heard on and off during our visit. It sounds like thunder but is in reality probably Fort Hood artillery. Didn't bother us much but we heard it about 100 times (see last picture for posted park explanation).

My husband I love visiting state parks. This makes 15 we've visited (it would be more, but we also have revisited some a few times.
This park is nice! The facilities were newer and well maintained, the staff was so nice, and the trails were super well marked.
Only down side was that drought has dried up all the water features. I guess it's just a good excuse to come back.
