Had to renew my driver's license. Ive been to this location before, service is always fast and excellent and today was no exception. I was the only person in line, renewal was quick and easy, staff was friendly and knowledgeable, able to answer all my questions. Super pleased as always at this location. Will definitely be back again.

I went this morning to get my tags for my cars and then I walked through the security. There was three police officers. Just as nice as they could be and very friendly at that. Thank you for being so friendly on this cold morning.

Having had to wait in line for three hours in the past at Jefferson County for tag business, it is extremely nice to go into this courthouse and finish business in just a few minutes. Everyone is extremely friendly and works quickly. There is a website for matters that can be handled online, like tag renewals. There is a small fee online and at the courthouse for using credit/debit cards. However, concerning the DMV, having teenagers drivers who took their permit and road tests here, I can confirm that there is often only one person working permit tests, road tests, out-of-state transfers, replacement license, motorcycle license, and everything DMV in the basement (except for renewals which are issued upstairs). As you can imagine, it's a lot for one person, but she has a good sense of humor and has always been kind despite facing numerous rude people. You should get there early and realize that you will have to wait in line and there are specific hours for road tests. Bring a book, laptop, or other device to keep you preoccupied. It's always best to call ahead of time to verify hours and information required, as opposed to taking time off work or school and having to go back later because you are missing documents. And why not try taking a good attitude and smile with you when you go? You do need to sign in when you get there (after she arrives). It would be nice to see another full-time employee down there helping her and it would benefit everyone to have an office with some windows. I can still say that I have never had to wait what I consider an unreasonable amount of time, even coming in last to a room full of people.

I have been coming here for years. I make the drive from Birmingham any time I need something done on a state level. It is quicker to make the 45min drive there and back than to deal with Jefferson County. These folks are always fast, always kind and the drive is well worth it.

I don't really want to let everyone know how great it is. LOL I noticed that a lot of people from Jefferson County or starting to come up here. Just hoping it doesn't gum up the works. As far as people's complaints about not taking their insurance. Blount County doesn't make the requirements for insurance. All the counties have to follow Alabama Law, if there's something that upset you take it up with the state of Alabama. Blount County provides a room for the state downstairs in the courthouse. Alabama has provided us with only one officer to reissue suspended licenses, administer both the written and driving test, and a whole bunch of other stuff that I haven't even thought of. The lady downstairs is very polite and friendly, just follow her instructions exactly. Do research and find out what you need a head of time. Don't get mad at her if you show up empty-handed and have to go to the back of the line after waiting. I honestly don't know how she sits in that basement and does all that work. It's got to be overwhelming. She's quick to the point and doesn't have time for stupidity. She will help you the best she can the rest is up to you.

Exceptionally nice employees. Not busy when I was there. What impressed me was the nice employeewho help me with a gentleman outside of the courthouse. The gentleman had an oxygen tank and was having some issues walking a to the courthouse. He went to get a wheelchair and help me get the gentleman up off the steps. He then took him inside and said he would make sure he was okay leaving as well. I wouldn't have to worry.

Everything is fast and easy and most employees are nice..Cynthia Faile is especially nice, helpful and polite. There are a few in the DMV that could be more polite.

Blount county courthouse doesn't generally have ridiculously long lines like most metropolitan courthouses do. I got my tag renewed, in and out in 5 minutes and parking is free (no meters). Try doing any of that in Jefferson county and you'll be there for two hours and pay five bucks for parking.
