Gilbert Street Cafe

We just had breakfast here with a large group (7 people) and holy smokes it was awesome! The service was excellent from the minute we were seated and everything we all ordered was wonderful. I thought the prices were also great for the amount of food received. Keep up the great work!

We went on Sunday morning for breakfast, and it was hard to find parking. My other friends ended up using the parking lot of the other building beside it. I had to circle multiple times to wait for others to leave. We had to wait for 10 to 15 minutes. There wasn't really a waiting area. The waiting area was upfront with chairs. You give your name, and then they call it when you are ready to be sat down. The place was super busy. The server was very friendly and interactive. The food arrived fast and fresh. The staff did a great job cleaning as soon as there was an empty plate or glass. Mimosas were amazing, especially when they used freshly squeezed orange juice.

The food was very reasonably priced with generous portions and great service. They also had a wonderful selection. We had a lunch special, parmesan tilapia, liver and onions and pecan pie. It was all great. The plate of liver and sauteed onions was a full plate, a large serving. And it was very good. I forgot to take a photo because I was eating it. LOL

Staff is nice and friendly. Breakfast is always good. Wide variety to choose from. Quick service. Lunch/Dinner is really delicious too. Usually order online for dinner. Easy setup to order online. Overall I highly recommend.

Our waitress Hanna was very attentive and friendly. Our food was ready quickly and tasted delicious. We ordered 2 salads, Greek + grilled chicken & Grilled chicken salad, a burger, and country fried steak. Prices were very reasonable and the place wasn't overly crowded.

When you start your day with freshly squeezed orange juice and really good coffee the rest of breakfast is certainly going to be great. This is the case at the locally owned Gilbert Street Cafe.
The restaurant was Saturday morning busy but we were seated quickly and drink orders taken. The Corned Beef breakfast featured a generous portion of corned beef hash (maybe the canned kind with tiny potato cubes), with hash browns, 2 eggs cooked to order and toast. It was easily enough food for two and was very tasty. We also enjoyed French Toast with sausage links, and eggs scrambled with ham and cheese, with bacon and toast.
It's easy to see why this is consistently voted Danville's Best Breakfast.

We love the Gilbert Street Cafe! Last time we were there my husband had biscuits and gravy. I had the strawberry pecan chicken salad. Everything was delicious. The service was good, the waitress brought us anything we wanted or needed. Prices were reasonable.

Nice atmosphere. Very friendly staff. Jenny was our server today and did an outstanding job. She provided me with her opinion on a couple of options I asked her about and she was right on it. I ordered the Seafood Fettuccini Alfredo and it was great. Served hot, cooked perfect, great taste and plenty of it. My wife ordered the Walleye and she loved it. We were too full to order dessert but they looked great also. I would definitely recommend this cafe.

Extensive breakfast options

I was treated here for breakfast this morning with friends. Never been there before. The food was great. The waitress was very nice. And the atmosphere was very great. Very clean and the portions was big. I had the ham and cheese omelet with hashbrowns.....Now I'm ready for a nap! 😉👍

Absolutely delicious food! Modern, yet homey atmosphere.

We both got rib eye steaks, French fries, baked potatoes and house salads. Service was quick and friendly. Kara was our server and she was so nice and kept our drinks filled the whole time.

We felt right at home, and the food was cooked to perfection. Everything was seasoned well and when we asked for extra condiments and such it was brought out immediately. We will definitely be going back again to eat here, and would recommend it to anyone!

Really tasty breakfast! I had French toast with fresh blueberries and strawberries. Food was excellent. Service was excellent. Bathroom was clean. Definitely recommend!!

Food was good, waitstaff attentive costs reasonable!
The beef vegetable soup was soo delicious, we all tried it and took home an 80oz container for the week!

My waitress Annette was AMAZING in every way possible oh and the food was purty good also 😂 Naw food was amazing as well oh and almost forgot when I sat at above my head someone needs to clean the cobwebs off

Since new owners took over food and service amazing. Food helpings enormous. Chicken fried steak with eggs and hashbrowns requires 2 plates. Now eat there 2 times a week. Accept door dash delivery
