Really enjoyed the stay. The new bathrooms were the absolute best I’ve seen in a state park. The staff must do a great job keeping them clean, I never had a issue with them, and we all know when people are left to their own devices they can be animals in bathrooms, not the case here! Nice boat launch area and the campsites are very large and provide wonderful oak tree coverage! Will be back, and it helps that Interlochen as a town is also very charming!

What great campground! Lots of spots but spaced enough you don’t bug your neighbors, nice walkways to explore the greenery and lake if you’re feeling adventurous! Close to town so you’re near good spots for breakfast or exploring if you have time, especially Buds down the street. One downside though is the pit toilets had the worst smell ever and no hand sanitizer.

Really cool place, fishing was wonderful and had the entire duck lake to our selfs to fish besides a few pleasure boaters. If you have a water front site you can bring your boat right to your site if you have a shallow enough draft. Plenty of bass and this lake holds trophy size Rock bass as we caught two during our stay. Drift the drop offs around the peninsula and the bullseye hole in the north east corner. Tight lines!

Interlochen State Park is well worth the drive to see and if you happen to be looking for a place to park your camper for a long weekend, well you've found it.

The park has hundreds of campsites all arrayed in two giant loops situated within a stones throw from Duck Lake. The lake provides many opportunities for fun and frolic, whether you're on the water or in it.

The staff I've interacted with have all been kind, friendly and helpful, as you would expect in Michigan. The facilities seemed well above standard for a State Park and the grounds always appeared clean and neat.

There are a number of attractions in the area as well as good places to eat within an easy driving distance. The hidden gem that you'll want to explore is directly across Karlin Road from the park, Interlochen Center for the Arts. Make sure to look at their website for the lineup of shows and performances before you arrive at the State Park so you can get tickets to any of their 'open to the public' attractions, you will be amazed at the talent of these kids!

When all is said and done, you owe it to yourself to take a drive to Interlochen State Park and see for yourself what Michigan's first State Park is all about...

This is a wonderful park to stay at. Very friendly staff. The bathrooms were clean . We were at site 13 which is on the water. Their is a cliff and your elevated from the water so the waterfront sites are not actually on the water. A few sets of stairs are built so you can go down to the water. We went during the end of September and a lot of sites were empty. I was disappointed that the camp store was closed. We like to collect stickers for the camper and magnets and was very hard to find anything. With this being the first state park you would think that wouldn't be an issue to find these items. This park is located close to traverse city and the sleeping bear dunes. Very clean park. Will be visiting here again.

We love camping here! Large, clean lots, and fairly quiet camping with nature all around.

Really nice state park. We rented a trailer and stayed in a nice campsite in the north park, away from the water. I can echo others that it was a tough site to back a 33' trailer into. We stayed Sun-Sat, and it was very much less crowded during the week than on the weekend. Nice beach, nice store/ice cream in the park. Restrooms/showers are large, modern, clean and well maintained. The south park has the newest restrooms, and is more grassy/hilly/tree-y than the north park.

There is a good mix of sites: pull-through, fully paved, rustic, waterfront, private backed-up-to-woods, small, large, etc. Only electric hookups provided at the sites. Central water/dump stations for the north and south parks, not at the campsites. Firepit and picnic table at all the sites.

We enjoyed our time camping in the rustic part of the park. We could also enjoy the beach at the other part of the park to sit or swim.
The rangers were nice.
Not to loud of people during the night, not sure on the busy side.
It also has two boat launches for two different lakes, boating and great to kayak They even rent kayaks at the camp store.
Enjoy your stay.
Beautiful place

Me and my partner have been visiting the state parks across Michigan for the past few years. This was the first park we have camped at in the lower peninsula. We were able to get site 13 which is on the water so to speak but it's on like a cliff so you have to use stairs to get down to the water. Unfortunately when we went camping it rained all weekend off and on. Their are a ton of sites available and a lot of them where empty. I assume this has to do with going in the end of September. I was disappointed that the park store was closed and no signs anywhere said closed for the season or anything that I seen but I could be wrong. The bathrooms where nice. Site was clean. Employees we interacted with all seemed happy. I definitely would camp here again because a weekend is not enough to see everything that is available to see around the area.

My Grandfather brought my Dad and his siblings here for several years as kids. My parents brought me and my brother and our cousins for years. Now I am to share Duck Lake with my son. They have lost some trees over the years however for Modern Camping WE LOVE THIS PLACE💓💓 Plenty of space, the south side is still well covered with trees. The North side is great for those who RV camp. Bathrooms are well maintained and they have private shower stalls that lock. The Arts Academy has a great Ice Cream stand across the street and the fact Tom's Grocery store is right down the road it's okay to not pack absolutely everything you need for a week or two of camping. The fact it is between Traverse City and Frankfort means it has some amazing day trip options as well as great hiking trails. Nothing to intense and it's great for families looking to get into or back to nature. The camp store has all the item you need at a premium price point so just remember there is local grocery, wood and shopping literally 5 miles or less away🤯

Interlochen is always a great choice because of it’s strategic location. From there is only a short trip to Traverse City or Sleeping Bear Dunes. Sites are big. Showers are warm and clean.

Interlochen is beautiful state park! Incredible old growth trees. Nice sites on two lakes. Great proximity to the music camp.

Beautiful park. FYI you need a camping pass for their state parks. $35 for a year. Water was hot. Large campsites. Could have more kid’s entertainment but peaceful and quiet park. Bring off spray!! No cement pads just dirt.

We come here every year and even stay at the same site. I couldn’t think of a better central location to camp at if you want to be able to enjoy the surrounding area and get the most out of your trip. There is so much to do in the northwest section of Michigan. Rain or shine, we could do different things every year for our week long trips. Almost every site at this park is a good pick and it has plenty of shade. We don’t come here for the beach at the park, I can’t say I recommend it. They do have rentals and a boat launch for your use though. The camp store has the best selection of Interlochen merch you’ll be able to find in the area like stickers and apparel. The area is clean and beautiful. It’s always a wonderful time. They have updated most of the park facilities. We don’t stay in that part of the park but we have tried to use the restrooms in the other loops. The one we went in has detachable shower heads and let’s just say we rather use the old, dark showers with the big spiders…. A public bathroom that is not cleaned in between each user should not have a shower head that can touch your nether regions - so bring your bleach wipes just in case. We are tent campers so this just applies for those of you that need to use the facilities. Regardless, we love this park and we will continue to make it a tradition to come here every year.

We loved our trip here. We stayed in the rustic side and found it to be very quiet and not too crowded. The non rustic side looked much more crowded and loud. We used the beach which was nice for a swim and to lay out in the sun for a little while. We will definitely return soon!

Peaceful campground, even at full capacity on July 4th weekend. Nice Beach area. Has camp store. Nice bathroom and showers. Showers have good water pressure and hot water. Lots of families with dogs.

Great campground, big rig friendly! North campground is more conducive for larger RV's. There is just electric at the sites, you can fill your fresh water tank at the dump station. Some sites are paved but mostly are gravel. The bathrooms and showers are a little buggy due to the area, the hot water in the showers are just ok more like warm water. We would definitely recommend this park if you are in Traverse City.
