Rusty Hooks Bait & Tackle

Came in here to buy two fishing licenses and some fishing gear. The staff was friendly, funny, and pleasant, and the store was clean, organized and exactly what you'd want in a fishing store. The process was quick and easy, and the location is absolutely perfect! Being a Niles local, I know we'll be coming back here!

These guys are great! They got my rod repaired in less than two hours as a walk-in! Their knowledge of the local fishing is extensive and reliable. And friendly no air of holier-than-thou fishermen here. I told them my fly fishing level and didn’t treat me like the rookie at the all-night Texas Hold’Em table and take me for every last cent I had.

You will find everything you need for fishing at Rusty Hooks! I couldn't believe how much stuff they have in the store! They have a lot of stuff to make your own fishing lures! Very cool!

Great selection and even better staff. Every staff member was quick and knowledgeable on every fishing matter. They helped me select the perfect rod and reel, and even lined it for me the right away. With their suggested bait and my new rod I managed to catch a nice 16” bass. Would recommend the rusty hook not just for the products they provide but for the textbook customer service experience.

Great staff/owners, very welcoming, not know it alls like most tackle shops you go into lol. Sharing and exchanging tips and advice, they’ve got their tackle selection honed/dialed in for the targeted species in the area, and a great selection at that. Incredible deals and starter combos for people wanting to get started in Steelhead fishing, and you are also supporting a local business, which is and should be the goal when you visit an out of town economy. Just stopping in for a visit to look around, or going to grab something for your arsenal I would highly recommend paying them a visit.

I'm new to the South Bend area, and couldn't find a decent place to get fishing equipment. I was happy to find Rusty Hooks down the road in Niles! They supply name brand equipment at a very affordable price.

Awsome home town place for bait and tackle. Both gentlemen, their older employees, and the owners' son were awesome and very helpful. I will be shopping here from now on.

Very knowledgeable and helpful. I was heading to Benton harbor to try steelhead/salmon for the first time. I called ahead to several shops, and these guys answered all my questions and gave me as much guidance as anyone could. I then stopped by and had the same experience with a completely different employee. Top shelf knowledge and inventory.

First time here since the move. Great location and plenty of tackle. Owners and sales staff are awesome! Stop by and see for yourself. I did ask about adding more bass fishing tackle and they were very interested in doing so. Great people!

Love this place. I've always taken these guy's advice and each year I've taken more steelhead than the year before. I've purchased everything through them, bait, rod, reel, terminal tackle, and even have them spool my reels for me. They have a good ear on the water for what's biting, and I will be sure to do my best to keep them in business.

Update May 2022 - had been chasing Coho with no luck, finally called up Rusty Hook and asked how to run my tackle while trolling. The very next day I landed my first ever Coho.

This will forever and always be my #1 tackle shop.

Went there to pick up worms (a family member is starting a compost) and I had called ahead to make sure they were there and they were super friendly and when I told them when I was gonna be coming into the store to make my purchase they invited me to their fish fry. The staff is so incredibly friendly and helpful. It was a great experience (even for a non-fisher)...

Wish I could give it more than 5 Stars, Me and my girlfriend decided we wanted to get away somewhere for a few days and went to St. Joseph, Michigan to visit the lake on our way back to Indianapolis we stopped in Niles for breakfast and to get some fishing in. I’ve never been to this city before and was looking for somewhere to grab a 24 hour fishing license. We quickly found this and went in and was blown away by how nice this place was and how friendly all the gentlemen were! They knew of an exact place where we could catch our first river giants. They also tied me a steelhead rig and entered us in a drawing even though we were out of state! Didn’t get anything while fishing but we still had a great time!

They have all the fishing equipment you need and live baits you need to fish with 👍🏾.
