Interlochen Center for the Arts Reviews

Interlochen Center for the Arts is an absolutely amazing place for your student to spend some or all of their high school years!  My daughter has just completed the first semester of her freshman year and we are already certain beyond any doubt that she is exactly where she is meant to be! If I could have given Interlochen 10 stars I would have, 5 isn't nearly enough..

The facilities at Interlochen are a perfect blend of their nearly 100 year history and a concerted effort in the last few years to dramatically update every 'majors' main facilities.  The older buildings are incorporated wonderfully within the campus setting and the modern buildings are gracefully situated to heighten their beauty and utility.  It all speaks to Interlochens desire to create the best learning environment possible for their students.

The only thing better than the facilities on the Interlochen campus would be the faculty and staff, they are brilliant.  Having gone through the process of both applying for Summer Camp, one year virtually and the other in person, and then applying for Interlochen Center for the Arts High School, I can guarantee you will not find more helpful and knowledgeable staff anywhere.  These people know their stuff and are always willing to help, no matter how silly of a question I asked...

Once my daughter started attending Interlochen for high school, and I got to meet all her educators personally, I was so impressed at how wonderful the people teaching my daughter were.  If every child could have people such as Interlochen has found, in their classrooms all across this country, this world would be a far better place!  The faculty at Interlochen deserve every one of the many accolades that are heaped on them and far better praise than I can set down here.

The dorms at Interlochen are exactly that, dorms.  That is, except the newest dorms that have recently been finished which resemble an upscale apartment and are highly sought after of course though not what I would call 'dorm living'.  I think the kids that get those rooms miss out on something fundamental about the experience of dorm life, but my daughter would disagree I believe.

The students at Interlochen are about as interesting a group of teenagers as I could imagine throwing together in a school setting.  They come from wildly varying backgrounds and from all over the globe, but all have one important thing in common and that is a burning desire to make art in their own special way.  I believe Interlochen Center for the Arts is the best place for them to do just that, while being taught by brilliant educators and guided by caring staff, all in an idyllic woodland setting...

The location is beautiful. The cabins for the overnight campers are very sweet. The whole energy on campus is so welcoming and easy. I'm looking forward to seeing what's in store in the next few weeks for my camper.

Nice location for Band, Choir and Orchestra camps. Housing in the cabins is more for the students than the adults. Facilities are abundant for different group sizes. Food choices are plentiful but not always the most tasty.

Enjoyed our stay at a nature cabin even though the concert we were planning to attend was cancelled.

Incredibly magical experiences during my years attending the 6-week summer camp. I learned so much through the intense program.
It gave me so much courage and confidence every time I sang, danced & acted.

Best ever concert venue. Easy to get to and leave from. Great facility. Have been coming here as a camper, counselor, and patron for over 50 years.

Truly an amazing venue for classical music, and other arts. They offer musicals, Shakespeare, and Orchestral performances. They also have a summer Artist series. If you live in or visit Michigan you need to check this out.

Incredible and beautiful location to pursue your art or craft! I attended as a bassoonist and worked at the summer camp as a counselor, and the experiences I have had there changed my life for the better and made me who I am today. It is a lovely venue for seeing artists and concerts as well.

Spectacular to say the least! With the Beach Boys headlining this venue is the best ever bar none.

A bit pricey to go to school here, but a lovely campus to work on

My daughter loves the camp! She loves being able to focus on her art. I asked her what made camp different than her other performance experiences. She said the instructors really teach you how to hone your craft in depth. Instruction she hasn't had anywhere else. The money is worth it if you have a child that truly wants to go far in their art.

I read a review about kids doing chores & have to respond to the review. The kids at the camp do chores called capers & get points creating a competition. I think this is fantastic. As a high school teacher, I can attest that a lot of students don't clean up after themselves. When asked why. They say "that's the janitor's job". I think having kids do capers is great. It creates a sense of community, self respect, and helps them become more independent.

I'm glad my daughter is at this camp having fun and learning. Thank you Interlochen.

Lived the place as a kid in the 1940's. Even washed dishes a few times.

Interlochen Arts Camp was such a fulfilling experience for me. I can already feel myself being strengthened in my Musical abilities. Everyone there is so kind and polite, and the food is not very important, but i just wanted to mention this. It is not like normal cruddy camp food. It isn't quite mom's cooking, but it isn't half bad. The orchestra program is especially wonderful. The conductors are so welcoming and helpful, no matter what your skill level is. I took a class called instrument exploration, and now I can play Trombone, Baritone, Trumpet, Cello, and viola, which prior to camp I could only play Ukulele, Violin, and Piano. Overall, Interlochen was a life changing experience.

Went here back in middle school (06 or so) for choir camp. Location is gorgeous. So much beautiful nature kids get exposed to. Guys cabin found a chipmunk in their toilet, it was super cool. Our cabin found a brown recluse spider in the sink and some girl killed it with her flip flop. Another girl tried to jump off a bunk bed and sprained her foot. Daddy long legs in all the showers so you were never lonely. super fun, I will never forget those fond memories.

Easy check in for summer program- good communication and streamlined sites, presentations and emails.

Signage could use a little work, but there is a lot packed into a small space.
