Don Ruben's Mexican Restaurant

An excellent Mexican restaurant in Mariposa! The food was outstanding. The service was truly a delight. Our server, Bee, was so kind and took care of all of our requests with a beautiful smile, made us feel at home. I totally recommend you try this place out!

Awesome Mexican and superb service. We stopped by for a quick dinner and were so impressed. Nothing was too much trouble and the staff were attentive, had suggestions for dishes and served us promptly. They also had a non-alcoholic beer on the menu, nice touch! Well priced too 🇲🇽🌮🌯🍺

My family absolutely loved this restaurant! The salsa was amazing. We’ve been to quiet a few Mexican restaurants in small towns and they usually tend to disappoint, Don Ruben’s was a 10/10 🙌🏼 the staff was incredibly kind. We’ll definitely be back. OH and the restroom was very clean and had a changing table for babies.

Great Mexican food at this little outpost to/fro Yosemite - their fajitas are lip smacking delicious and their diablo prawns have a great kick. House chips are a bonus!

My wife and I made a day trip to Mariposa last Wednesday and we just happened to be near Don Ruben's Mexican Restaurant right around Lunch time. The was a wonderful place for lunch before heading into the museum.

Everything about this place was great: the ambiance. the food, the service, even the prices.

As usual I ordered the chile relleno which I, as an amatuer chef), find to be the most difficult mexican dish to make. They happened to have it on the menu as a side order for $4.50 per.> I thought to start with one of those and have a taco or enchilada. Since it was lunch, and I'm diabetic, this was perfect. Had I had dish with rice and beans as well I might have needed to take some insulin.

They have a senior and children's menu, which my wife ordered from, and the portion was perfect. She ordered the taco dish which was $7.50, and it was just a little more than she could eat.

I generally don't like going over 4 stars for restaurants, but this one gets 5 because my wife said the beans and rice were the best, she had in Mexican restaurant for a long time.

Tip: The blended margaritas ($8.00) come in a fishbowl. Recommend foregoing ordering them if you plan on going into the museum after your meal. But whatever you do, do not miss the Museum when you're visiting Mariposa.

Excellent food, and i mean excellent! Be prepared to wait for a table though as they are a bit understaffed last time i was there. But the food made it all up as does the service. Recomended to eat here!

Cute little Mexican restaurant in Mariposa. The staff is amazing and we thought the food was great! The vegetables tasted very fresh. We will be going back here every night of our stay.

We thought it was very fair priced too!

My only complaint would be the guac not being thick enough, it was a little too mashed up for my preferences but I put it on my tacos and it tasted great!

So, we went to the Lemon Drop in Mariposa and I asked where a great lunch spot was….the Lemon Drop owner was spot on!! I had the chicken fajitas, best I have ever had! Everything was delicious the salsa so fresh and delicious (we got two orders to go) as well as the margarita!! My sister said the taco was crispy to the last bite!! Our trip to Mariposa was made complete!! Don’t pass by Don Ruben’s you will miss out!!

We had great time with our family here, the staff is super kind, the food was ready really fast and delicious. We had one soup and three different meals and even our "picky" daughters 😊 finished their meals. The prices are also great and even if you are on budget you will find the right meal for you.

After discovering this restaurant, we couldn't help but make it our "go to" place the entire week we stayed at Mariposa. The staff members are super nice and attentive. The young man and lady who are servers there also seem very hard working. They always seemed to be doing something: cleaning tables, sweeping, or polishing the silverware. This particularly stood out to me because a lot of the staff members at other businesses in Mariposa, always seemed to be on their phone, as if they didn't enjoy their job or where plain out bored. Anyway, here, the workers seemed to enjoy their job so the customer service was outstanding. Let's talk about the food, a Latina born and raised in Mexico, I can without a doubt say that the food here is the best Mexican food you'll find in Mariposa. Is it 100% "authentic?" The answer is no. Their tortillas are definitely not authentic but hey, they were still delicious. Now, if they handmade their tortillas, it would take their food to a whole another level but I understand why they don't. The only thing I would say is a "con" is that they never had any music playing when we went to visit the restaurant. I feel that some Mexican music would REALLY set the ambiance for the entire restaurant. Anyway, the food is delicious, the drinks are refreshing, the salsa and chips are awesome, the workers are fantastic. 100% recommend this place, come support a family business!

Super delicious and soooooo fresh.
Our server came IMMEDIATELY. We had drinks within minutes along with fresh chips and salsa. We added their yummy guacamole.
We ordered our food and it came out lightning fast.
My daughter had a shrimp dish and I had a vegetarian burrito which was to die for.
The staff was super friendly and attentive.
We enjoyed it so much we are going back tomorrow night.
And the price was so low.
We left a great tip and can’t wait to go again.

We had our anniversary dinner at this joint, at Mariposa. The day was Cinco-de-mayo too so the restaurant was jam-packed. The waiters were impressive in the way they handled the crowd and service, food was great too specially the enchiladas with the diablo sauce. Overall experience was pretty satisfying.

An excellent mexican restaurant with special service, good food and excellent value for money. Cocktails are not best but large, huge!

The best fajitas I've ever had. That's not a joke.... flavours, texture and consistency... just.. fantastic.
Same for all other dishes too. Very high quality prepared well, in reasonable time and certainly plentiful.

I came here for the margaritas! My husband and I came here with our kids for our wedding anniversary. We ordered a supreme burrito, with a side of fries and margaritas! We are vegetarians so we substituted the meat for potatoes. They accommodated our request. The burrito was good and the complimentary chips and dip were great! The fries were good as well. The margaritas are the best in town! Hands Down!

I have been there twice. Great food and service. Love the fact that it’s open till late, great place to go after hiking/driving in Yosemite. Portions are good. Service is also good.

Thoroughly enjoyable dinner. This family run restaurant has friendly and efficient staff providing excellent service. The food is classic Mexican food you expect to find state side. Chips were well seasoned and the salsa was fresh and irresistible. Their red sauce enchilada was delicious (I recommend the shredded beef). We wish got a quesadilla that was quite tasty too. Generous portion sizes for the price. The frozen strawberry margarita was good and huge! Was pleasantly surprised to find it was flavored with real strawberries as well as syrup. Don Ruben's is a great place for a meal after a long hike in Yosemite.

We found this little treasure on our way back from Yosemite. It was the only restaurant staffed and open. The food was amazing! I had the burrito supreme which came with melt in your mouth shredded beef. It took me a minute to decide, they have a lot of tasty options. I'm so glad we didn't miss this delicious food.

And top of that good quality and quantity . Definitely recommend for the family. The server(Farnando) who was very friendly and helpful . Staff was very welcoming.

Incredible margaritas, very affordable. Dinner was delicious, and the staff was friendly. Highly recommend it if you're passing through town.
