Cafe Zydeco

This is a great Cajun/Creole joint in Billings. It's very low key. It is set up like a traditional cafe (hence the name), and it has great food.

I wanted to try about ten things on the menu. Aside from my gumbo and French Dip, I also got the gator bites, and everything was very good.

Fried Oysters were the best I've eaten since living back in Boston. Very nice lady at the counter. Very impressed. The chips were yummy too. Worth every penny.

Delicious food to feed a family. You get a really generous helping for you buck. I got the chicken and sausage gumbo with shoe string fries. Great service. No wait for dinning in. Great atmosphere. Parking is difficult, street only. Definitely coming back.

Amazing Creole food! Service is quick, with a smile. The alligator beats every other place in Billings hands down. It is tender, and the breading on it melts in your mouth. Just wonderful food, and excellent service.

That Crawfish etoufee was right on point and the coating on my friend catfish was crunchy and very deliciously seasoned.

My wife got the All that Jazz Po' Boy and she said she could eat another!

They even topped the whole meal off.by sending us home with a couple beignets.

We will be back the next.time we visit my sister in law!

The food was wonderful. You best be hungry because the servings are big. I had the small size & still brought some home.

The ladies working here are extremely helpful and friendly.. listening to everyone sitting around me they were all completely enjoying their food to the point where everyone was sharing and several people said there wasnt one bad thing on the menu.. which runs in price from $5.95 to 15.95.. best place in Billings

"Okay. We can try it.," I shrugged. I was not expecting much. I mean, after all, this far from Louisiana, Mississippi and Texas , how authentic could it be? But, oh well. We decided to step in out of the rain, on this cool Saturday night. Our romantic stoll around the shops in downtown Billings was fun and we'd seen many good places to eat. This one was a bit hidden, with no glaring neon or flashing lights. But it looked cozy.

Wow. Were we surprised! Having sampled cajun creole cooking from Baton Rouge to Atlanta, I cannot think of a more excellent meal. The price was surprisingly good, the presentation perfect, the wait staff personable and professional, and of course, the meal was awesome. Very large. Though we were traveling by motorcycle, we made sure to get a "go box" to take leftovers with us. Warmed up a day later when we were home, the food was just as good.

Anytime we're in Billings, you will find us at Cafe Zydeco!

Great Breakfast Beignets and Crawfish Etouffee!
Cafe Z serves fresh beignets on Saturday morning and they are fantastic, especially with the Praline Sauce. Bourbon Sauce also available. The omelet with tasty crawfish etouffee is available every day (but they open early (9 am) on Saturdays!). Crawfish Boil on Thursdays at 5 starting in March or April 2018.

We stopped in late afternoon on a Saturday, so we were the only ones there. The waitress was very friendly and helpful and the food was excellent. Pleasantly surprised to find a Cajun place in Billings. Food is authentic with large portions. Definitely will return. The owner, a lovely Cajun lady, often visits tables to regale customers about live along the bayou.

We had an incredible meal here! The food was absolutely delicious! The waitress was the kindest woman I've ever met and went far and away beyond what was required to make us feel welcome. We walked in at the end of the night and she never made us feel rushed. I'm certain we stayed beyond closing and she had a smile on her face until she said goodbye. Great greasy grub! Best shrimp and grits I've had. I'm not really a fan of shrimp and grits due to an experience of bland shrimp and bland grits. But at cafe zydeco, they fry the grits, fry the shrimp, and add this awesome sauce! Also, the fried pickles were great, and only $3.25. I went to Dickies and paid $6.99 for fried pickles a month ago. Great job on the prices cafe zydeco!

Decided to try Cafe Zydeco on a whim and it was a fabulous choice!! The atmosphere is wonderful, the decor is splendid, and the people are so friendly! The food is so delicious! I truly recommend the grilled catfish po' boy! Super yummy! Worth every penny! I will be back to try more of their food!! :D

All I really care about is the food.
I ate there some years ago after reading about it being the 4th best cajun in the country. I have had people tell me its not as good as back then? New owners? I hope this is untrue.
Anyway, I had catfish tchoupitoulas and bread pudding. It was my the best lunch I've ever had! I have wanted to go back many times, BUT;
1) my wife isn't crazy about cajun food. Not on you guys! 1 star review for her (just on that ONE thing) (...or maybe 2... still 5 star overall!)
2) Your fricking hours man! Every time I'm in town (alone) and hungry you are never open!

I would think that you would want to retain this high reputation. IMO, being open more would go along way. I'm sure you have lots of reasons. Just saying it would be nice if you could do that. And serve some beers

Excellent food, great environment and nice staff. Have ordered from here several times and have never been let down. Today my wife and I went in to dine for the first time and we enjoyed it.

We had such a good time! We ordered the Creole Chicken Philly and my wife had the Spicy Cajun Gyro. Absolutely delicious! Flavors and sauces were perfectly blended with subtle heat level and excellent seasoning. We made another good move by ordering the Hush Puppies! The best food we’ve had in Billings in 4 months, highly recommended!

By far the best cajun food in town. The gator is fantastic and the fried bread pudding is a must. If you're looking for awesome restaurants downtown this should be on your list!
