The Briar Patch Restaurant

We love trying local restaurants and diners so we tried this one and loved it. Although we weren't very hungry we wanted something light, so we had the soup of the day (potato soup), onion soup and a Rueben sandwich with potato salad to share, and everything was delicious. The restaurant was cute decorated and the waitress was very friendly too.

We had a fantastic experience for my birthday dinner here. Not only was the food absolutely wonderful, our server Sarah was exceptional, attentive and compassionate in learning of the hard time my family is going through after making conversation. She even brought me a dessert with a candle for my birthday, on the house.
Thank you so much to the entire Briar Patch crew, and especially to Sarah, for making a hard birthday still feel special.

We ate here for the first time this evening after a gymnastics meet to celebrate our team’s win. We had a party of 18 and made an advance reservation. They were ready for us when we arrived. The food was very good even though the place was PACKED. I had the beef tenderloin tips cooked medium and loved it. I highly recommend the Derby Pie… basically a cookie pie with ice cream. I could have eaten two of those!

The star of the show though was not the food but our 16 year old waitress (Savannah) who had a strong work ethic and made sure our party was very well taken care of. I hope my daughter grows up to have her work ethic someday!

This place is a hidden gem and highly recommend it.

This little gem of a place is not far off the highway. The food was absolutely delicious. We had the French onion soup as a starter and it was fabulous. I also had the stuffed mushrooms with the spinach salad. I highly recommend this fantastic little place for a quick bite or a lovely evening dinner.

My wife and I hadn't been to Briar Patch and Saturday was our day!!

She loved her Pasta Primavera. She had bread pudding for dessert and she said it's the best she's had.

I ordered the Pan seared chicken livers (hey, someone has to love them!!). I ordered the most delicious Greek salad and had their macaroni and cheese. Since my wife had to have dessert , I followed by having the famous Briar Patch Derby Pie (with ice cream of course!!)

It took about 5 minutes for the hostess to notice us and seat us but other than that I was really impressed with this place! I got the Sensational Salmon Salad and it was way better than I expected. The fried green tomatoes were also amazing!!

We asked for recommendations on Facebook for places to eat in the Madison Heights/Amhurst area as we wanted to try something new and different! We live in Lynchburg and wanted to venture out a little bit. By far the majority of the responses said Briar Patch! We decided to head over early Saturday evening to beat the crowds and there were plenty of tables still available at 4:45pm. It had almost filled completely when we left at 5:45pm.
We were seated promptly, and a lovely server named Sarah greeted us and told us about the menu and popular items. The menu is huge, something for everyone.

My husband decided on Pan Seared Chicken Livers, Mac and cheese and Greek salad. (See photos) It was all fantastic!!! Huge portions, cooked and seasoned perfectly. He was in heaven!
I decided on Pasta Primavera with Parmesan cream sauce. It was delicious, and another huge portion. Thank goodness as I took 1/2 home for dinner tomorrow! Creamy, flavorful with fresh veggies!!! (The photo does not show all the gorgeous vegetables that were tucked under the creamy pasta!)
For dessert we had Bread pudding with vanilla sauce and it may be the best I’ve ever had!!! Another large serving, I took 1/2 home for tomorrow! My husband had the Derby Pie with ice cream and he ate and loved every bite.

Our server Sarah was so precious, helpful, efficient and met every need before we could ask. Bravo!!! Will request her area when we return.
The prices are VERY reasonable, worth every penny. Totally worth the drive from Lynchburg.
5 stars for SURE. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Had a great time at my neice Maddie's birthday dinner. There were about 26 people. The waitresses handled things beautifully. The seafood I had was awesome! The atmosphere was good, the bar had a live singer with a guitar. The restaurant was clean and inviting. We'll be back for more.

Absolutely delicious! Friendly and sweet staff that took care of us like family. Food was so tasty. Wonderful dinner experience! We will be back to try more of the menu!

The Briar Patch Restaurant was excellent!! The food was delicious and so very tasty. This was my first time going there, and boy was I in for a treat! I ordered the cheesy chicken (w/ Swiss cheese and diced tomatoes on top), and it was absolutely scrumptious! I also ordered a garden salad (very fresh) and sweet potato fries (As I told my husband, I felt as if I were eating dessert on the side). Both were exquisite! It was a real treat to eat such a delicious, satisfying meal on a Friday evening! We will surely be back again. Kudos to the great cooks there!

This place is awesome! So is Adrienne, Holly, Savannah, Dana and Jim….. Not only “where friends meet friends” but where family meets family….. Great food, great service and great entertainment on Wednesday nights. A true Amherst gem!

Some of the best waitresses I have ever had. Food was great. But seriously the nicest workers friendly waitress especially the pregnant one.

Catfish dinner with real smashed potatoes was hot and delicious! The ginormous salad was not only fresh and tasty, it was filling. Didn't need dinner! Can't wait to visit again.

Great food and service

Great service and delicious food. We ordered out and our order was ready in 20 min. No issues and we will be back in the future for sure!

Found this treasure on our way home from West VA to North Carolina!! Home cooked meal!! Beats Chic Fil A or McDoodoo's (McDonald's) everyday of the week! Server was amazing 👏 👏👏👏

So we’re here in Virginia with family for a wedding and found the Briar Patch. The wait wasn’t long and it was a full house. The food was delicious and the staff wonderful. I recommend them if you’re close by.
