Poplar Grove Golf Club

Poplar Grove is a golf course that you can't believe until you play it. The course is resort quality. The views are beyond beautiful. The layout makes you think about your game. It's challenging and engaging. The staff is friendly and courteous. With all the hype about big resort courses, this course will match them and more at about 1/2 the cost. Go there. Experience it. You'll be very glad you did.

All staff is outstanding! The Pro Jacob Mast is great, the restaurant team is wonderful and the club/cart staff are polite and conversational. Great practice facility and the course is in really good shape. The rough is demanding and as rough should, it punishes errant tee shots. The greens are fast but not lighting fast. They hold well hit iron shots and putt true (when you read them correctly). The bunkers are consistent throughout the course. It would be great if course ownership/members/management considered hosting a couple of high school regional or state matches. It is challenging but fair.

Poplar Grove is one of the best public golf courses in the state of Virginia. The course is challenging for both novice and accomplished golfers and is always in amazing shape. The staff always displays great hospitality and makes the experience of playing here unforgettable.

While fair, the course is challenging. A beautiful setting with great amenities. A super professional staff both courteous and efficient with a keen attention to detail. You really must do yourself the pleasure of enjoying this experience.

A unique layout that can cause extreme difficulty if you miss your target. If your handicap is above ten, play the upper tees. The owner has put millions into this course, so the fee now is high compared to other courses in the area. Unfortunately, I don't have unlimited resources like so many that don't think about such things. Playing in a Virginia State Golf Association tournament gave me the opportunity to play at a reasonable price for which I'm grateful. Being in Amherst, Virginia (away from most towns) makes it inconvenient. I would recommend staying in Lynchburg, Virginia which is about forty minutes away if traveling through this area. It's a fine golf course with great scenery and a very challenging task.

Fun and challenging course. Beautifully maintained. Nice mix of classic parkland with tree-lined fairways and more open holes around the lakes. I played during the week and it was $70 to walk. I will definitely do it again.

Stunningly beautiful and peaceful. An intricate and amazing course that can challenge good players, yet is still easy to get the grasp of golf for amateurs.

PG is a contender for the best course in the state. Great layout/track, beautiful scenery, great greens. I have played this course 25+ times and am rarely disappointed. I wish the cost was slightly lower but the new owners/managers have invested heavily in improvements (most notably the bunkers) and have earned the right to increase the fees. Bridges, bulkheads, cart paths, landscaping, carts and clubhouse have all been significantly improved. Pace of play is nearly always at a private CC pace. Lastly, the staff has been absolutely fantastic. Super friendly and professional. Poplar Grove is a wonderful golf course and is improving daily!

Everything about this course is great! They have put a lot into course maintenance, and continue to make improvements. The fairways and greens are the best conditioned I've seen in the area. The bunkers are well maintained and easily accessible! The staff in the pro shop and the on the course were friendly and knowledgeable. I play golf all around the area (Lynchburg, Roanoke, Charlottesville) and this is by far the best public course!

Everything is in great shape. Enjoyed very much. My cart got a flat tire, and they where there in less than 5min with another car. Had a great time!

Course is ALWAYS in excellent condition every year I play it. Not heavily trafficked perhaps due to location but it's the best course in area and an awesome challenge to play.

Beautiful, Serene Golf Course! I will be back to play the full 18!

Came for kids mini golf tournament...wonderful staff, great atmosphere, beautiful course! Our entire family enjoyed it and plan to go again.

Great Golf Course
Have done a 3 million dollar renovation throughout the course as well as the manor house. A great course to play

good selection of tee boxes, fantastic course layout and very nice greens. some bunkers could use a little work, but now I'm nitpicking.
