Great Beer and laid back atmosphere. It was their monthly open Mic night. Lots of awesome local talent showing off their skills. Always run into friends I know when I visit.

This is a great place with a friendly atmosphere that is a gem for Amherst, VA. Sitting just off of Route 29 makes this either a great hit and run spot, or a place to hang out for several hours! Which is just what myself and a group of four friends did!

At the time of this review they have 11 beers on tap, and a non-alcoholic root beer on tap as well. My friends and I got two of their "mega" flights. At a current cost of $12 for twelve 3oz pours in a flight it's a steal for those that are both new to the craft beer space and those with more discerning taste buds.

Something that separates this brewery from many others is the option of a "half pint", which is exactly what it sounds like, an 8oz pour!

Their taproom is full of great horse and pony show artistry which will make many folks have a good laugh. And, for men specifically, the toilet has a very funny gag piece that is a collage of toilets in pubs across Ireland!

I could go on about how cool this little place is, but why spoil the whimsy for everyone. If you have a chance, go give them a visit. You won't be disappointed!

Are you looking for a brew that hits the spot? Look no further. Loose Shoe has everything a beer filled heart can desire. So, if you find yourself on Route 29 around Amherst be sure to stop by and have a pint or two. The great beer is complimented by great service and super friendly Loosesholigans that make the experience grand. Cheers!!

We stopped here after hiking and enjoyed a flight on the patio with our dog who made dog friends with a few others. The other dogs were bigger than ours and fit through the wider fence gap but it is awkward to have the dog on the patio without us while we go around to enter from inside. But our dog and those inside the patio were super friendly and had a great time. We enjoyed comparing very different beers and found our favorites. The patio view isn't picturesque but the fun relaxing atmosphere and affordable flights of craft beer made it a five for us.

Loose Shoe is our all time favorite brewery. We moved to Amherst a few years ago and were kind of skeptical about a brewery in a shopping center and didn't try it out for a while, but once we did, we were very sorry we waited so long. The owners are super friendly, the atmosphere is relaxing, and if you go again and again, you'll be treated like family by everyone. The beer is great and rotates often. They have a crowler machine so you can take beer to go, they offer snacks and you can bring in food! We moved away in August and miss it terribly.

Great brewery! Reasonable prices and the brew master is a really nice guy, too. Favorite beer today was "Hey Blondie"!!

My husband and I just stopped in on a drive through (visiting from Colorado). Friendly, relaxed atmosphere. Very responsive service and knowledgeable people. Every beer on the flight was good quality - very enjoyable. If you're in the area and love to find owner operated and brewed product, this is a fantastic example of that.

If Cheers was ever set in a brewery, this would be the stage for it- everyone ended up knowing my name by the time I Ieft. Tremendously friendly atmosphere, and more importantly, about a dozen great beers on tap. I told the brewmaster on my way out after buying a crowler that Loose Shoe Brewery is a gem and I'm putting a huge pushpin on my map to make sure I come back, but with a crew of IPA-thirtsty beer drinkers next time. And tere will be a next time...

The beer was unique and exciting, the staff was very attentive, the music was lively, and the atmosphere was welcoming. If you haven't been you need to go, If for no other reason than to try a flight and see how solid fundamentals lead to great experiments in flavor and craftsmanship.

Best local brewery in Lynchburg and Amherst County. Owners are fantastic and offer a cozy place to drink a cold beverage. If you have to drive, stop in and pick up a growler for the house. You won't be disappointed. Voted best brewery by me!!

I was down visiting family last weekend. Stopped here, and definitely was not disappointed! Great beer.. especially the Habanero Stout.. and a chill, laid back atmosphere. I'm moving to the area in August and I hope to be back many times!

We stopped in Friday night and had the Vienna Lager. The beer was outstanding, the staff was very knowledgeable and friendly, and the atmosphere was great. The have a patio for your dining pleasure. They don't have food but they welcome anyone who wants to bring in their own food, takeout or homemade. We are coming back soon with a group from our family reunion.

Excellent nano-brewery. The beers are quite ambitious for the local market and all the flavors there belong, even in the 'pepper' beer category which I never seem to take seriously.

The room is small but it's clean, well kept, and has a nice buzz about it for a weekday evening with a pint.

This brewery also has the most gorgeous, functional, and well crafted flight paddles I've ever seen.

Wanted to try out a new brewery with my wife and folks and I happened to see signs and hear about this place a few months ago so, we stopped in. I was very impressed with everything. It doesn't look much from the outside, but these guys have done a nice job creating a trendy, nice atmosphere inside as well as offering a patio with cornhole out back. Good theming and they stick to it. Classic rock playing on the speakers and gritty (clean) biker bar style. Staff (there was one gentleman) was very friendly and welcoming as well as the patron sitting at the bar. As for the beer, I can't say there was anything I really disliked. They were all fairly smooth for their respective genre. The one that caught me the most off guard, though, is their habanero beer. Not quite my taste buds for a whole pint, but very unique to try. They offer a 3 or 6 (full) course flight, half pints, whole pints, and growler fills. Highly recommend stopping in!

On a Summer ride along US 29 my wife asked suddenly to stop at an exit. She surprised me with this absolute GEM of a brewery. I got a flight and went away with a growler of the Winter Blanket! This place was a home run!!! The decor was unigue, with horse shoes visible under the glass bar. I will return for a horseshoe pretzel and more great brew. Darren was a spectacular server, and gave us a thumbnail sketch of this establishment's story.
