The Folkston Funnel Crew Quarters

This is a really nice place to stay if you enjoy watching trains. This cabin has almost everything you could ask for... even a scanner to listen to the railroad radio, and of course a great view of the tracks right at the junction. There is also outdoor seating, so you can sit down and chill while a train is passing by. Most of the freight trains that go through here make the bend, and the Amtrak passenger trains and a few other freights go north up the east coast. You can see at least 25 trains per day on a good day... Sundays and Mondays generally see less. It's a really nice peaceful place to relax and watch trains.

Clean, affordable, and peaceful ... Railfanners Paradise! Small kitchenette available for those staying for more than a couple of nights. Easy 2-minute drive into downtown for shopping, food, and gas. Fire pit and charcoal grill available for use; bring your own charcoal and meat. TV with cable inside, as well as a scanner to listen for train activity. Will definitely stay again if ever in the area.
