Stayed in the Caboose overnight on our way to Florida. The hosts were friendly, quick to respond to our questions, and helpful in suggesting nearby restaurants. The single beds were comfy, and the experience for railroad enthusiasts was awesome. Wish we had thought of this when our children were young.

This place was perfect! My girlfriend and I drove to Folkston to kayak the Okefenokee Swamp. We spent the night at Railside Lodging and it was lovely. Our little cabin was cute and clean. The service was impeccable. Our host was very responsive. I highly recommend Railside for your stay.

I came down here to watch a baseball playoff game, and had to spend the night somewhere. When I found these train cars, I had to spend the night there. The caboose itself was very well maintained. However, it is the size of a caboose. There were four bunk beds and a fold out couch, but five people inside this thing would be tight.

Fortunately, there was a huge deck built on one side. I spent most of my time out there. What I didn't realize about Folkston was that there is a double main railroad line called a funnel that runs through the middle of town and right by this caboose. If you are into watching trains, then you can just sit on the big porch and one will come by about every 10-15 minutes. I admit, that was a lot of fun.

What wasn't fun was that the trains didn't stop coming by when I decided to go to sleep. The walls of the caboose do not block out much sound, and since it is located right next to the main lines, there is a lot of sound to block out.

If I go back, I will definitely stay here again. However, I will bring some earplugs for sleeping.

Outstanding location to stay if you like trains. One of the best. Outstanding service. You won't be disappointed.

I absolutely loved everything to do with Folkston. I stayed in Peakes Cabin which was a bit small but still a great place to stay. Only things I would suggest are better pillows (the ones that were there were very uncomfortable) and some lights to shine onto the tracks for night train watching. For railfanners, great place to stay

My kids and I stayed at Peake's Cabin on a Saturday night. We showed up at check-in time, and left the next morning at check-out time. In that time period, we saw (or heard...at night) close to 30 trains.

The cabin itself was immaculate. No issues to speak of. The cabin is somewhat larger than it appears in the pictures. It's cozy, but still plenty of room to move about.

Just to be clear... The cabin sits very close to the tracks. Every passing train makes its presence known, so you will hear and feel every moment there's train movement outside. I got very little actual sleep that night, but I'm not a deep sleeper, so I knew that was a risk. My kids, however, slept all night without a stir!

I'm planning a longer stay later this year, but this time we'll upgrade to the caboose.

We spent a night in the Caboose with our two young granddaughters and had a wonderful time. Be advised: The bunk beds are very comfortable but the top bunks do not have safety rails. The covered deck is spacious with fans and lights and there's a nice sized yard should young ones wish to run about. The 'Folkston funnel platform' is within sight across the tracks. Several of the engineers waved back at my granddaughters which impressed them greatly. /Update July 2023: My wife, granddaughters and I just completed our third stay in the Caboose and once again had a wonderful time. The loveseat sleeper seemed new (since our last visit) and was very comfortable. Georgia's barrier islands are only an hour away so we have made a night in Ms. Chessie the perfect start to our Ga Golden isles vacations.

Mr. Peake's cabin is our tiny home among the trains! So clean and cozy, with everything we need for a fun evening of train viewing. (We love the horns and the thunder!) After we check-out in the morning, we head straight to Whistlin' Dixie. It's fun shopping for gifts and goodies, while we wait for a delicious meal to be served-up from the cafe. Lord willing, we'll be back soon with more family members and put them up in the Ms. Chessie caboose next door.

We just finished a long weekend in the Chessie cabin and it was lovely! Bigger than we expected, clean and so much fun. We met with the grandparents to celebrate Christmas and our son loved it. The trains weren’t as loud as I was expecting, the caboose does a good job of keeping a good bit of the sound out. And honestly once the engine passes honking the horn it’s really not noisy. We can’t wait to go back! I do wish there was more comfortable seating on the porch for extended train watching, especially for those of us that were blessed with wide hips. 😆 Be sure to bring cups for coffee though, I was a little disappointed because I did remember to bring my k-cups but didn’t realize I would need a cup.

The only change would be a bigger foldout couch. Othahn that, we had an excellent time. We will definitely be back!!!!

We stayed an overnight in the Chessie System Caboose. It was my son and mine first overnight trip together. He had so much fun exploring the caboose, making train sounds and turning on the wheel brake. He is only 3 and 1/2 but he wanted to sleep on the top bunk so I let him. The Place has 2 bunk beds so it sleeps 4 there and a small fold out sofa will probably fit just 1 on. The place was very clean and was stocked with everything we needed for linens. I love the HUGE porch and fire pit, even though it was too hot out for a fire, It was still nice to have for the next time. I like how close it is to town and the Folkston Funnel viewing platform, we were able to walk everywhere. The only thing I can say that wasn't perfect was the shower head. Overall, this was a very minor inconvenience, and in no way will affect our return to stay. I will defiantly recommend the Chessie to every train fan I know.

The caboose was so clean, well maintained. There's a huge covered deck attached, with a charcoal grill. Two sets of bunk beds and a pull out sofa. Added on bathroom so there's more than enough space for 4 or 5 people. The grandkids loved being able to sit outside and watch all the trains pass by. We saw 28 trains in 20 hours!

Wonderful place to stay. This was our 3rd time staying In Peakes cabin. It has always been very clean. Stocked with everything you need. Excellent place to view trains. The people are really nice. Dixie and her family are great. Can't wait to go back.

We had a great stay! This is as close to being on the tracks as you can possibly be. The cabin is comfortable and clean, although you'll need to bring your own coffee cup and water glasses, plus K cups and cream/sugar if you need that in your coffee. It is outfitted with a corkscrew and utensils to use the charcoal grill that's also provided.

I stayed at the Chessie System caboose (Ms. Chessie) over the weekend and I just thought it was beyond amazing! Just like the FLS caboose by Roadmaster's Lodge, the Chessie is a beautifully restored caboose that was renovated into an amazing living space. The caboose is located less then 100 feet from the tracks and it gives you excellent train views! The caboose is very clean, with a kitchen, 4 beds, a couch (foldout), and a place to set up your laptops! There is a bathroom extension to the caboose which was great. AC in the Chessie felt great during the hot summer hours! The Chessie also has its own private covered deck with a table, grill, trackside lighting, and fans! The only thing I did have trouble with is connecting to its WIFI. But hey, still worked! The location is great, located just "across the tracks" from the Folkston Funnel. This place is great for any die hard railfans. I look forward to staying here at the Ms. Chessie caboose again some point in the future!

Wife and I stayed at Peaks Cabin which was very clean. I thought bathroom and shower seemed bigger than the pictures, plenty of room. Even had a grill. We went to local grocery store a bought a steak, potatoes, bag of frozen broccoli, tin foil, plastic utensils, paper plates and some charcoal. Cooked a steak, baked potatoes and broccoli and watched trains. Life’s good when you do what you enjoy.

Staying in the “Miss Chessie” caboose was so much fun!! The Chessie has everything we needed - linens, good hot shower, refrigerator, and best yet, a great view of the trains!! It is within walking distance of good restaurants and the shops in the town of Folkston. Hoping to visit again soon!!

Super nice little cabin! Full amenities and comfortable. Spacious front porch with great view of the railroad tracks. Railroad scanner inside, so you can listen for approaching trains, along with DirecTV, WiFi Internet, microwave oven, minifridge, private toilet and shower. We stayed for two nights, and mom, Fenris the wolf and I thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. My only critique is that the shower water pressure is rather low...perhaps a new shower head? We will be back in the future; this is the best way to experience the Folkston Funnel!

Up to 60 trains per day. If you're a railfan, you will enjoy staying here. They have a cabin and a caboose located across from the train viewing platform. You may wake up many times overnight due to the frequent train horns. They also have a cabin at Shady Ln. This is my new favorite. It's at the north end of the funnel where the tracks split. Also I was able to get more sleep there, because the trains don't blow their horns in that area. Some notable trains are the Tropicana juice train and six Amtrak trains daily, including the AutoTrain. Small town + lots of trains = a great experience.

This is possibly the coolest bed and breakfast I have ever found. It is in a very small town but that seems to add to the charm. The train car I stayed in can easily sleep 6. Words will never do this place justice. Staff is great and everything you need is provided. I will be back!
