Cafe Evangeline

Absolutely amazing!! We stumbled upon this quaint little Cafe and were blown away!! The building is an old bank; beautifully restored. The service was very fancy(something I’m definitely not accustomed to). I don’t have words for how good the food was. Absolute perfection!! Definitely will be going back.

I loved the atmosphere here. It’s a small but well kept upscale dining room. The wait staff was very knowledgeable and helpful. I had the stuffed pork chop which was more like two pork tenderloin chops sandwiching this wonderful stuffing. Totally not what I was expecting but it was a big bang of a surprise eating it. It was wonderful! And that sauce, so good. The potatoes were cooked well like I like them, they had a nice crunch. And the corn grits were a great addition. The owner came over and asked how I liked things and was very nice. We had a great conversation like we knew each other from long ago. Everyone here was no pleasant. I wish it wasn’t so far away from me it would be a go to place for me or when I want to impress friends. It is definitely on my list of places to return to so when I’m in town I will try my best to come back. Give this place a try it’s definitely a winner!

Food was excellent...very nice atmosphere, kinda of reminds me of new Orleans...service was very friendly and welcoming, price is good for the great quality of food and service..The bonus is the very tasty cocktails at a very reasonable price ..highly recommend this for a date night . 👍

This is a great little spot to grab lunch if you're not in a rush. The building has a lot of history and it sets the atmosphere. The food we had was excellent. I'm keto so the wedge salad with blackened chicken was perfect. My friends both had the Cuban sandwich and it looked amazing. Definitely will have to return soon!

Chloe and Salina are wonderful. Food was great. The place is historic. If you are traveling through Ville Platte you have to stop here.

Loved being able to relax on the patio and have a delicious meal. I usually try to find locally owned restaurants when passing through. This one did not disappoint me. My waitress Chloe, was very attentive, charming and friendly. The food was fresh, served hot and great!

Amazing food, service and atmosphere.

Fantastic atmosphere and the food was great. Shrimp and fish tasted like they were caught that morning. Our waitress was very attentive. It was our first visit but not our last.

First time to CE. Kudos to Pam Rivers McGee for the beautifully done iconic historic Bank. To the owner, staff, and bar, it was a wonderful experience with great food and martinis and warm welcoming service. So nice to see the extensive efforts coming to fruition. Best of success to all involved!

First time in Ville Platte and I felt fortunate that I was able to find the café Evangeline for lunch.

The service was attentive and quick and the food was delicious.

I had the grilled Brussel sprouts which is one of my favorites and their preparation was perhaps one of the most flavorful I’ve ever enjoyed.

I guess my only pushback would be the portion size; a little on the smaller side which was fine since I had to drive back to New Orleans but if I were hungrier I might’ve needed to order another side.

The prices reflect the premier status of Café Evangeline as one of the top food destinations in town so, I guess, if you’re looking for lots and lots of food this might not be the place for you.

High end atmosphere, though not pricy for eating out. $8-10 entrees. Wonderful staff and attentive owner. The smokey gumbo was not to my liking, though the crab cake stuffed trout was delicious.

A great place to eat! The food is always tasty and the drinks are interesting! I love the blackened redfish and the stuffed trout!

The food is amazing! The fried eggplant with a Tasso cream sauce is delicious! Love the Pomegranate martinis, and the desserts! Staff is very friendly and the whole restaurant is gorgeous!
