Covenant was a huge blessing to us when we lived in Reidsville, NC and were looking for a church. The Lord used Pastor John’s teachings to convict me of sin I had never before recognized in myself as well as the forgiveness I receive in Christ. There are a lot of mentions in reviews about the lead pastor’s twitter activity. I cannot speak to that as I am not on twitter. However, we were welcomed to the church with open arms, respect, and kindness. Pastor John was passionate about Scripture and faithfully preached truth to his congregation every week. Although we have relocated and are unable to attend Covenant anymore, I am frequently reminded of the work God has done in me through this church and Pastor John’s teachings.

We're a family originally from Macau, and we've settled down in Danville VA.

Thanks God for leading us to this church. Pastor John and his wife Mary are truly dedicated to their calling,
interpreting the Bible with truthfulness and in harmony with biblical teachings as they "feed His sheep."

Pastor John's sermons are not only passionate and sincere but also deeply insightful and inspiring. He always makes sure to pay special attention to the needs of the vulnerable members of the community, making everyone feel seen and cared for.

The worship experience at this church is also incredibly uplifting and moving. Our worship of God is rooted in our love for Him, and it's that love that brings us together in praise. To truly worship God with our hearts and sincerity.

From Bible study groups and prayer meetings, this church also offers programs and activities to people.

I am eternally grateful to the Lord for guiding us to this church. I extend my heartfelt thanks to Pastor John, Mary, and brothers and sisters for making this church feel like a true home for my family. If you're looking for a place to worship and grow in your faith, I highly highly highly recommend this church.

While in college a short distance away, I was growing in Godly discontentment with the churches I had been attending because of the watered down Gospel being preached and the overall lack of maturity and seriousness about the things of God. My mom found this church through a Google search and encouraged me to visit.
Since I was in college and intended to move back home for work, my stay was not long, but I had very sweet fellowship with the men there who were all willing to disciple me as a young believer for the year I was there.
My most prominent memory is membership class with Pastor John on Sunday evenings when I learned and formed my understanding of the true nature of the church, its purpose, and some of the distinctives that set obedient churches apart from disobedient and even false churches. It has helped me to be wise in searching for Godly churches since I have moved more than once. I am grateful to pastor John for that.
I also appreciated the singing of the Psalms, the dedication to praying together regularly, and the expositional teaching.

This church, full of sinful people like every other church, and with a sinful pastor like every other church, will have shortcomings. But they are dedicated to the truth and to seeing people love the true Christ of the Bible.

Biblically centered; this church is built on members who live and act like they are what they say they are - a family. The pastor is not ashamed to preach the gospel in truth and in love. Truly a welcoming place with a heart for the gospel and helping the surrounding community. The church hosts activities for neighboring kids and even has a bus system for families who cannot afford their own transportation. They really care and keep the saving power of the gospel at the center of their ministry. A blessing for the city of Danville and Caswell County.

One of the most remarkable churches I've ever attended. John and his family have so much love for the people they serve. John would give the shirt off his back for anyone. I have personally seen him and his family care for the poor, the sick, and the elderly.

I have experienced love and gentleness from the community of believers at Covenant. I appreciate the care and humble service we have received from the pastor, his wife, and the members here.

The Church is not a Building
The Lord Jesus mentions the local church in Matthew 18:15-18, holding each other accountable. A church is not a place we attend but a body to which we belong.

Commitment to a Local Church
If you can’t answer the question ‘Who is your life committed to, who are you with, spurring on, submitted to?’, you are living contrary to the life of the New Testament.

Reformed
Since sinners are totally unable to save themselves, or even muster up true saving faith, salvation depends on God’s unconditional election of the lost sheep Jesus paid for and irresistibly appointed to save and will preserve to the end.

Being “Reformed” also means keeping the “Regulative Principle of Worship” which means we follow scripture (not tradition or the calendar) about what we do in church. Hence, “success” is measured not by numbers but by faithfulness to the Word of God.

Inter-racial & Active
Being open to all kinds of people should be a natural part of being a true church. Translation into Chinese is available. Because every true believer is gifted, not everyone has to do everything but everyone should be doing something.

Pillars

Expository Preaching
We preach through “the whole counsel of God,” seeking to make the main point of a passage of scripture the main point of a message.

Psalms
We read, sing and pray the Psalms (Ephesians 5:19; Colossians 3:16). Twice the New Testament commands churches to sing the Psalms. Psalm-singing used to be the exclusive singing of Biblical churches but over the last two centuries that’s faded away. We’ve revived that.

We also sing hymns and sound contemporary songs. We have the Lord’s Supper once a month. The Bible doesn’t command us how often to have it but it does command us to sing Psalms.

Meaningful Membership

Church Covenant
Biblical churches have covenants which express the members commitment to the Lord and each other. Elias Keach (1666-1701) wrote, in 1697, that all members “must solemnly enter a covenant to walk in the fellowship. . .”. While that Puritan practice declined in the 20th century because of spiritual decline, antinomianism and individualism, we’ve revived it.

Confession of Faith
Our statement of faith is based on the Nicene Creed and the 1833 New Hampshire Baptist Confession. The pastor generally subscribes to the 1689 London Baptist Confession.

Constitution
Our church constitution was originally copied from Capital Hill Baptist Church (Washington, DC), then revised.

Great Bible based preaching with an emphasis on letting the scriptures speak for themselves. Small friendly congregation .Easy atmosphere to worship in.

The people of Covenant are very welcoming, loving, hospitable, and kind. It was a great place to attend while I was living close by, and I look forward to visiting again.

The times I've had the displeasure of interacting with John Carpenter have been some of the worst interactions I've ever had with a pastor. He is cruel to anyone who disagrees with him on anything, especially women.

Scripture says that a REQUIREMENT for pastors is to have a good reputation with outsides. Whereas John has been kicked off of multiple social media profiles due to his harassment of others. He may be kind in person, but from the overflow of the heart the mouth speaks, and his speech to those who aren't under his thumb is evil, cruel, unchristlike, and spiritually bankrupt.
