This place is amazing, from the service to the food. If you are going through Marietta, it is a must to try this wonderful restaurant. Also make sure you try any of the desserts! I would give more stars if I could.

We stopped here as we were driving on I-35. We were trying to find something to eat that was not Fast Food. Their Brisket burger was delicious... so delicious. They were worth getting off the Interstate. The owner was also serving. She was so gracious and welcoming.

When we stopped in for lunch, we had no idea that this restaurant had been featured on Discover Oklahoma and owned by a chef from the DFW area. (We found that out after the fact.) The menu changes weekly, if not daily. The staff was friendly and attentive. When we arrived, we were one of the only ones there but tables quickly filled up. The samples of the daily soup were fantastic. I ordered the Chicken Fried Chicken with mashed potatoes and side salad. The breading on the chicken had a unique flavor that paired nicely with the gravy, and I truly enjoyed this meal. Mrs. Flip Out had the fried chicken club sandwich and agreed that the fried chicken had great flavor. Little Flip Out and Littlest Flip Out shared their kids burger and they loved it. We didn’t save room for dessert but the options sounded great. The atmosphere is very warm, comfortable, and it’s easy to see why this place is a local favorite. Definitely worth the stop!

You're going to love the food, atmosphere, and folks running it!
Located on main street in Marietta, The Taste is a family run business.
We were welcomed at the door and had a pleasant lunch with great service.
The quality, and taste, of the food was far beyond my expectations.
The atmosphere is decorated with antiques and feels a little like going to Grandma's for dinner. Very nice and relaxing.
Go once and you'll go again. We did!

A truly unique and excellent restaurant. The food is exceptional. The staff are very friendly. The atmosphere is nice and inviting. This has quickly become one of my favorite places to eat. Highly recommend. Pictured is the Chipotle Pulled Pork sandwich with homemade chips, dessert, and pics of the inside of the restaurant.

When traveling near Ardmore to visit family, I always try to make it to the "taste". I have never been disappointed. The food is great. Everyone including the chef greets you with a smile and a welcome .

I don’t know if there’s treasure on Oak Island, but there is certainly hidden treasure in Marietta, OK. It’s “The Taste,” a masterpiece by Chef Rodney. We had pulled pork tacos, the best pulled pork we’ve ever had — and we’re from Houston. Black bean soup and beef stew were equally perfect. The restaurant is clean and comfortable; restrooms immaculate. And chef Rodney is just a good guy. If you’re ever driving between Dallas and OK, DON’T MISS IT.

Small town family restaurant with an experienced chef that knows his business and is helped by other family members. They take pride in quality service and just good food.

Had an awesome experience and enjoyed our visit. Chef Rodney was very hospitable as well as Mrs. Chef and the rest of the staff.
Excellent food and awesome dessert menu. Have some menu items that stay the same and some others that change. Open for dinner only on Fridays, closed on Saturdays, but open till 2:00 on Sundays. Lunch through the week.
Highly recommended. Very upscale decor in a small town atmosphere. Spiritual overtone. Thanks Chef!

TWO WEEKS LATER,
UPDATE; UPDATE; For the life of me, I don't know what happened today. We came back today and brought a friend. We had bragged so much on this restaurant. We got in the door at 25min. after 12 o'clock on Sunday. There was standing room only just inside the door. We assumed it was a church crowd based on the time. Ok. A party of six was ahead of us, and a second party of six, and then us, a party of three. They finally seated the first six and we were left standing without even being spoken to. The second party of six was left standing also. During this time there were two empty tables. The second party of six asked if they could be seated at two separate tables and were told no. After waiting 20 minutes, I asked the hostess if we, party of three, could be seated at one of those tables since she was not going to seat anyone at them and was told no, because that party of six was ahead of us. I said, but you're not seating anyone at them, you're waiting on a larger table. She still said no. After 30 minutes some tables had cleared and the second party of six was seated. There were now four empty tables. We were still standing at the front door. I once again asked the hostess why were we not able to be seated and was told it had to be ok'ed by the waitresses.
During this whole 30 minutes of standing at the door, not one other person, waiter, or Chef spoke to us. Chef Rodney went around table to table and did not bother to make it a point to speak with us. The hostess did nothing but stand there in front of us saying nothing. We stood another 10 minutes without being seated and we opted to leave. I've never seen a more ridiculous situation. A major portion of the tables had cleared and yet we were still standing. We were told by the young girl hostess that the waitresses had to take those other people's orders before she could seat us.
I think the young hostess had no idea of what to do. She really looked confused. The actual waitresses never even so much as gave us a glance. At one point I had planned to talk with Chef about the situation, but I believed I might never get a chance. I have such high praise for the food and Chef, I will absolutely give them another try. We drove over from Texas just to eat here. After seven years in business, I can't see this as a work in progress. I was not only disappointed, in not getting to eat, I was embarrassed to my friend that I had brought with me. As a final note, I reccomend to give them a try. I understand when a place gets swamped and everyone is jumping through hoops to get everyone taken care of, but, this doesn't explain what happened today. Our first visit was fenominal. This second vist could not have been worse. Only time will tell when we try our next visit.

Drove from Tahlequah, OK (220 miles) to meet our son & daughter-in-law from Waco, TX (182 miles) for lunch, party of four. 😋 The delish bean soup sample resulted in bean soup for everyone! Chicken Alfredo Lasagna, Grilled Cheese sandwiches, and Chicken Salad Croissant were all sooo very good! But, dessert... DESSERT... was the cherry on top, specifically the strawberry on top! Chocolate Covered Strawberry Cheesecake was the table favorite! Pecan Coconut Cheesecake was another favorite, Italian Cream Cake was my favorite! If we are ever this way, THIS is where we eat, period. And, meeting Chef Rodney was a bonus! He welcomed us, talked to us about the food and dessert and wished us a safe drive home. If you are not nearby, this is worth the drive!!

The Taste is always very good. I really like how Chief Rodney comes by the table and says hi. And the atmosphere is so chill that my boys actually behave...lol

This restaurant is superb. Can't believe there is such a good homemade food in a small town. I like the omg burger. After a night camping, eating here makes our vacation perfect. And the chef is very nice, he talks to everyone when he get a chance. We do like the Christian theme environment. Thank you chef Rondy.

What a gem of a place! Incredible food hand prepared by a Chef who cares about. Rodney even came out to ask about it. The prices are better than fast food and the wait staff are just fantastic. Friendly, delicious and fast. They give you samples of their soup before you can even think to ask. A must visit!

The cutest little small town place with out of this world hand cooked food, and the sweetest staff. Would highly recommend getting a dessert too!! Prices are super reasonable. Gather the fam up and head on over to this little gem in Marrieta.

Great tasting home style food with great service. They set a different menu every week. Unique antique atmosphere with tables and chairs that aren't matching sets. The owner came out to chat. When we walked out, Chef Rodney came out to chat. Great folks!

What a treasure!! Wonderful atmosphere and service. Can't say enough about the food. Mouthwatering. The chicken crossiant and hommade chips were the best. And I've had a lot of chicken salad. Wanted to lick the plate. Hubby had the Brisket Burger, couldn't stop saying yum. Chef Rodney and his crew are delightful.
So worth the trip.
