The Sentinel Marfa

Pretty amazing and unique place to visit if or when you are in Marfa.
I first was impressed with a contrast between the outer view of the building and the interior of the cafe. It honestly felt like I stepped into another dimension - that’s how much bigger that place looked, all that space inside, out of nowhere!..
I also loved it how they combine so many purposes into that one space inside - it’s a coffee shop, it’s an art gallery, a lounge space, a book/esoteric shop.. Simply breathtaking.
I enjoyed their heartfelt service, always very personal and warm to each and everyone; they have a very nice list of coffee drinks (and maybe teas too, not sure now.. I was focused on getting my caffeine that morning! 😆).
All in all - the owners have done an amazing job of creating this place - a proud reflection of that creative, artistic spirit that is embracing and following you when you are in Marfa.

You wouldn’t know how well designed this place was from the street view. But the coffee, sandwiches, and general ambiance is fantastic. A good selection of art books and nick-nacks. Cozy corners to sip coffee in and generous outdoor seating both covered and uncovered.

Great breakfast tacos. Awesome lavender oat latte. Kind staff. Great vibes.

Also, the maracuya sparkling water (can) is 🤌🏼

This place is a must . I went here for lunch and breakfast during my my stay. I had the seasonal strawberry 🍓 matcha 🍵 both times and it was phenomenal. Food and drinks are delicious here . Everyone was so nice and there a good selection of books and snacks to buy . Plenty of outdoor and indoor seating .

First stop every morning for coffee and our favorite lunch spot. The vegan tacos are fresh, with both soft and crunchy textures. They hit the spot especially sitting in the beautiful outdoor courtyard. The vibe is great and the ordering and kitchen service is great.

Very nice architecture and ambience with ample sitting space. Coffee and food both are good.

We had the most incredible GF Clementine Almond cake while we were here! The coffee was good but not outstanding. The interior is beautiful, and they have some really cool local items available for purchase. Also cool how purchases support local journalism.

We went here several times during the weekend for amazing coffee and food! Everyone loved the chicken enchiladas, pozole, and butternut squash tacos!

The Sentinel is a very interesting “one-stop shop” here in Marfa! They sell everything, I even found one of my favourite candle brands here - Na Nin. Food here is also decent, we ordered Barbacoa and sandwich “Italian”, all tasty! Last but not least, they really have some GREAT coffee, worth to give it a try!

This is a coffee shop, bar, restaurant and unique confectionery along with an independent newspaper publisher located in a restored building in downtown Marfa. You can get a Guiness, an espresso and a hand-crafted bandana or leather wallet all in one place, and you're as likely to see a sandal-footed local walk in as you are a murdered-out SUV full of hipsters just arriving off the highway from LA. It feels cool, not pretentious. The Sentinel is a must-stop destination and experience and today is a part of the cultural bedrock that composes up this intriguing and unique, west Texas town. Great spot to stop!

This is the best start to your morning! Friendly staff with great tasting food, pastries, and coffee! Shopping around while waiting for your order is nice and I love supporting the local paper!

The Spanish Latte was excellent. We came back just for that. The atmosphere was also great. We sat and read a $1 paper and drank coffee. It’s a slow space to sit and enjoy yourself and relax.

The breakfast tacos weren’t great and were overpriced for what you get. But still giving 5 stars because the rest of the experience was great.

Would not expect to find a place like this in a town like that. Stellar spot to grab some coffee and boutique clothing or other items.
Decor and music are spot on. I’d have loved to study in a place like this back in my uni days.

We stopped by this place and my husband was very impressive. Their taco was sooooo good. Cute place and also dog friendly, I’m so glad they can have dog indoor so we don’t have to eat food under the Sun.

I was hesitant from other reviews it might be overrated or skimpy on food, but I can say after ordering food two separate times that it is delicious and filling, possibly just pricier than some might want.

There is a ton of space to post up on a laptop and get work done for the day, and a wonderful patio on the side.

Beautiful coffee shop with pastries and some items for sale in Marfa. We had a chai latte (not too sweet and very nicely spiced) and cortado with a pan au chocolat that was so good. Would happily come back

The perfect coffee spot in Marfa! We stopped here twice while visiting the area, and we’ll definitely be back. There’s indoor and outdoor seating areas!

Family friendly and remote work friendly.
