Happy State Bank

I was surprised by the actions of the bank manager, who declined to provide her last name, during my recent visit to the Happy State Bank branch. I had visited this particular location as my account had been compromised, resulting in a loss of $473.00. As someone who has worked in the Panhandle area, I chose to visit this specific branch.

Initially, the teller was helpful and courteous, reassuring me that the matter would be resolved. I have been a customer of Happy State for over a decade, and the bank has always been committed to customer satisfaction. This is why I have continued to maintain an account with them for several years, only using it for a few regular auto-draft payments, while my husband and I rely on ACFCU for direct deposits and daily banking.

However, upon checking my Happy State account today, I discovered that the overdrafts caused by the unauthorized transaction had still not been refunded. When I contacted the Panhandle location, Melissa informed me that the bank was not responsible for the error and that I would have to bear the costs. Her behavior was unprofessional, discourteous, and not in line with customer service standards. I am concerned that this may become the new norm at Happy State. The bank has charged me five fees in the process, and it is not fair for them to profit from the customer's misfortune.

I promptly reached out to the Amarillo branch, and Isaiah Martinez was apologetic and empathetic. After receiving the email containing the details of the erroneous company that debited my account, he assured me that the fees would be refunded.

It's interesting how one Teller, who claims to be the branch manager, is the same one who cannot explain the *mysterious* withdrawal on your account just that very morning. As in "I can't see or tell why the money isn't there, but I still won't put it back"
Too many horror stories from people who bank at this location about tellers looking through accounts who shouldn't be, much less taking actual action on accounts with no paper nor electronic trail as to why. LESS than one star. DO NOT RECOMMEND. Happy State Bank- do better vetting of your employees and make sure your cameras are aimed in the right places.
