The owner came right out to our car and shared expert tips to my husband about his fly line and fishing. Very impressed with the prices at their store too.

The owners are some of the nicest people you want to know. If you are lucky enough to stay at one of their rooms they realky know how to make you feel like family. We were lucky to stay in the outside Alaskan tent with woodstove and all 👍. Shout out to Chris & his wife, thank you so much for having us.

Love this place they gave me a great deal on a new net because someone had stolen mine that morning. The guy behind the counter is Chris i a very knowledgeable fly fisherman willing to share advice or teach you how to cast 80* yards with your fly rod. If that isnt enough they have a small cafe serving better-than-average food at a fair price downstairs

The lodging was great it had everything I needed, the fly shop had a great selection, but most importantly the customer service was excellent. They really went above and beyond to make my stay worth while. I would highly recommend booking with them!

Just got our fish smoked, filleted, and cut to steaks. Perfect. Had lunch, their cheese steaks were good, beer selection great and their wine list small BUT 4 reds among the choices. Staff was good with tips on where the fish were.

Overall, good folks to deal with.

Hit this place last week and the entire staff made us feel very comfortable.....Love what they did with the store...can just hang there and play darts, or drink a few beers, or eat a meal, or buy fly fishing equipment, or get your fish smoked, or or or or or!!! It really has it all...Very cool fly shop....We hung there for a while, and spoke to the owner, Chris about the best flyfishing holes in the area...TWO THUMBS UP! Awesome place.

Salmon River Outfitters is an A++ establishment! You have everything you need in one convenient spot a stone's throw away from the river. Chris, Jackie and Charlie are some of the nicest and knowledgeable people you'll meet up there. Great food, great price, great people. A must if you make a trip up there!

Nicest tackle shop around with the absolute best customer service. I came to town stopped at all the famous tackle shops and not one person would help me out. Stopped at Salmon River outfitters and they were the nicest people with some of the best selection around. I was looking at getting a new steelhead rod and I was looking at the expensive Saint Croix and they actually recommended me the Okuma connoisseur and I’m extreme ole please with the action and weight of the rod. They also tie all their own egg sacs on site and clean fish as well.

I gave it five stars, so it's obvious I don't really have anything bad to say, which is why I stay here. If I had bad things to say, I wouldn't stay here.

Anyway, here are the reasons I like it.

Proximity to the river:
It's literally twenty yards from where the rest of the river meets the lower fly stretch at the Altmar bridge. That means it's prime water for either spin or fly fisherman.

The rooms:
The rooms are reasonably priced. They also have great hot water and televisions. Some of them are more like suites, meaning they have separate bedrooms and kitchens. Regardless, each has a microwave, coffee maker and access to the common area.

The common area:
The common area has snacks, a big screen tv, coffee, a wood stove and couches. There's also a friendly dog that hangs out there a lot. It's warm and a good place to come back to at the end of the day.

The restaurant:
There's a bar and restaurant downstairs. Everything is reasonably priced and the food is delicious. They do their own rotisserie chickens, as well as great burgers, steaks and seafood, like steamers. The beer selection is solid, it's a great place to hang out and all the drinks cost what they should.

The tackle shop:
The tackle shop is open early and stays open late. It is also attached to the common area, which is directly below most of the rooms. What I'm saying is that it is convenient.

As far as stock, they have everything you need for spinning and fly fishing. They have a big selection of flies and all the terminal tackle you need. They also sell egg sacs, beads and anything else you need for drift or float fishing. Aside from the terminal tackle, they also have all the other stuff you might need, from things like pliers and clippers, to waders, fly rods, spin rods or even center pin rods. They also have the reels to go with them.

Other services:
They have a fish cleaning station and smoker, so it's very convenient to process your fish.

Staff is nice and helpful--most people who stay here regularly develop some sort of friendly relationship with the owners Chris and Jackie. The bar/shop staff are also very friendly.

They'll also give you good advice or set you up with a guide should you want one.

Overall, this place is close to the river, clean, has all the tackle you'd want, and is attatched to a bar. If you don't see the value in that, I don't know what to tell you.

Anyway, that's why I like this place.

and it's literally twenty yards from the lower fly stretch, which is some of the best water on the river.

Chris, the owner is who you want to deal with .Very knowdgeable, great fly fisherman and offers great products in his shop and reasonable priced. There also a friendly dog who seeks love attention. My brother and I purchased two St. Croix fly rods with slamming reels Kraken, and Allen. Chris provided a few lessons on how to handle the St. Croix fly rods and reels and put us on fish.
